I’ve never taken her to a place like that, but from now on, I definitely would more often.
She deserved it, and I didn’t mind relaxing in a hot tub or getting my back massaged all day long.
It was great, but so damn exhausting.
We were on our way back from the spa retreat which was located about an hour from home, but before I turned onto the street which would lead us to our apartment, I stopped at the gas station to have my car ready for when we decided to head over to the island.
I turned to look at Juno, and to not wake her, I got out of the car without making any noise.
She fell asleep ten minutes after starting to drive back, but although she was sleeping, her hand never left my lap.
After I pushed the nozzle in, I took another look at Juno in the car and smiled.
She looked so damn peaceful, and I hated that I’d have to wake her up when we got home.
Once the tank was full, I put the nozzle back and locked the car to head inside and pay.
I grabbed a bag of Juno’s favorite chips and a chocolate bar before heading to the cashier.
You’re doing this to yourself, I thought, looking down at the unhealthy things.
But no matter how much I despised these things, they always lit up Juno’s face.
And that’s the main reason why I bought them.
Once I paid, I grabbed the bag to head back outside, but before I could walk over to my car, Olivia stopped me.
“Weird how we run into each other so often,” she said with a grin.
I chuckled. “Yeah, starts getting creepy. How was Christmas?” I asked.
I’d say we were on pretty good terms, but there was really no need for us to see each other that often.
“It was wonderful. You haven’t gotten back to me yet. Have you decided?”
I frowned at first, but then I remembered what we talked about the last time we crossed paths.
“Ah, shit. I’m sorry, I forgot. Juno’s and my parents came over last night, and before that we were just enjoying some time together.”
Olivia smiled and shrugged. “The offer still stands. Let me know but I need to know before the end of the year. I’ll let you go now. Juno is already frowning at us.”
As I looked back to see Juno awake in the car, Olivia placed her hand on my arm and then headed inside the shop.
Shit.
I headed to the car and opened the door to get inside, and when I sat down and turned to her, Juno was still looking out the window.
“What did you talk about?” she asked, finally turning back to look at me.
“Just asked how Christmas was. I got you something,” I said, holding the bag to her.
She looked inside, and as if nothing ever happened, she smiled. “Thank you, Ez.”
Relieved that she was already over Olivia, I started the car and drove home.
“Still tired?” I asked as she yawned, already ripping apart the paper of the chocolate bar.
“A little. Glad you got me dinner though,” she said sarcastically.
