“We should get her a new bed. She’ll get bigger, and I don’t want her to think she can use our bed when she’s all grown up,” Ezra said.

We stood in front of the dog toys in the pet store with Ferris sniffing every single thing in front of her.

“I wouldn’t mind sharing our bed with her,” I told him, grabbing a stuffed chicken from the shelf.

“I’d mind. How am I supposed to make you come with her staring at us?” he said, keeping his voice low.

I chuckled. “She can stare at us from the floor too,” I pointed out.

Ezra sighed, placing his hand on my lower back. “She’ll get a bigger bed.”

I wasn’t going to complain about that.

Whatever Ferris needed, I wanted to buy for her.

“Which one?” I asked, looking down at Ferris and holding the chicken and a burger in front of her.

It didn’t take her too long to decide that she liked the burger more, biting into it and taking it from my hand.

“Good choice,” I grinned, putting the chicken back.

Ezra laughed. “You found your soulmate, huh?”

“You’re my soulmate,” I told him, looking up into his eyes.

He smiled and kissed my forehead before nodding toward the next aisle. “Let’s get her the food she needs.”

As we stood in front of the dog food, we tried to figure out if we wanted to keep her food the same as it was when Olivia’s parents fed her, or if we wanted to change it to organic.

“My moms would definitely go for the organic option,” I told Ezra.

“You think she would like that?”

I shrugged.

“Maybe we can just try and see if she likes it. If she doesn’t, we can continue getting the one we have at home already,” I suggested.

“Sounds good to me.”

We grabbed a small bag of the organic dog food, but also chose to take another brand with us just to make sure we get Ferris enough options.

After putting everything else we needed into our cart, including a bigger bed, we stopped at the treat section where—surprise, surprise—Olivia was standing.

She’s literally everywhere, I thought.

“We should really stop running into each other. It’s getting creepy,” she said with a laugh, smiling brightly at Ezra.

“Nice surprise, hm? I wish a guy would get me another dog,” she added, now looking at me.

I nodded and smiled at her, knowing she was no threat to me now. “I love her.”

“We named her Ferris. Well, Juno named her.”

“That’s a great name. I’m glad you love her. And I’m sorry if me bumping into Ezra so many times made you feel uncomfortable. It took him too long to agree on taking her.”

Ezra chuckled and placed his arm around my back. “I shouldn’t have kept it a secret for so long. But we luckily didn’t start an actual fight last night. She saw you leaving the apartment,” he told Olivia.

“Oh, no! I feel bad now,” she said, covering her mouth with her hand. “You must’ve had the worst thoughts running through your mind.”
