“Jonah. Glad she brought a friend. What’s your name?”
“Don’t bother. He won’t remember in a few minutes,” I muttered.
“Oh, come on. Why are you giving me such a damn hard time? I’m just trying to make friends. Do you go to Lakewood too?”
As wild and open as Pixie was, Jonah wasn’t the type of guy she would ever flirt with.
“I don’t. And I would like to spend the evening with my best friend since I’m leaving tomorrow night. So would you mind leaving us alone?”
Jonah wasn’t keen on leaving, even though he had company already waiting for him at another booth.
Two girls, staring both Pixie and me down for no reason.
“Shame. I’ll see you around campus then, June?”
Well, that was surprisingly close to Juno.
Still not my name though.
I waved my hand to dismiss him, and finally, he left our booth.
“What an ass. Does Ezra know about him?” Pixie asked as she grabbed the menu in front of us.
“No, but he shouldn’t have to deal with an idiot like him.”
I pointed at the menu, tapping on an item. “We should get the fries. Their seasoning is amazing.”
“Great, and I’m up for some mini burgers as well.”
Finally someone who’s willing to eat whatever I wanna eat without checking if there are enough vegetables in it.
And although I had dinner with Ezra already, I couldn’t say no to more delicious food.
While Pixie ordered our food and drinks, I checked my phone to read Ezra’s message he sent me.
Text me when you’re headed back home.
Weird.
Why did he have to know?
But to avoid a conversation about it, I agreed.
Will do. I love you.
“So tell me. We didn’t have much time to talk about everything at the Christmas dinner. What’s it like living with Ezra?”
I pushed my phone back into my coat pocket and looked up to meet Pixie’s wide eyes.
“It’s the most amazing thing ever. I love knowing he’s waiting for me whenever I come home from college, and all these nights with him are just…” A happy sigh left me, and my smile brightened.
“He’s perfect.”
“I’m happy for you two. Have you ever talked about getting married or having kids?” she asked, grinning.
“I think it’s a little early to discuss those things, Pixie. Not that I don’t wanna have his babies, but I’m still in college. I don’t even know what I wanna do after graduating.”
“And what about marrying him?”
