“Oh boy, what now? I see that look in your eyes. Whatever it is, I hope it has a quick fix. We have hours of planning to do for this retreat in Texas.”

“Funny you should mention Texas. I have a person of interest there,” I say.

“A problem we need to handle?” She lifts a brow at me and becomes more serious.

Out of curiosity, I decided to do my own digging into this Cameron Perry and his wife. I still plan to do as Symphony has asked, but I needed to know who we’re dealing with and who we’re potentially bringing into the fold.

I learned a few things about Cameron and Maribel Perry. They are not a problem, but they know of one we once had and could have in the future.

“No, not at the moment. Actually, let me state that properly. Sim came to me with a request. She wants Nico and Uri to offer a job to a batter named Cameron Perry.

“I looked into him and his wife, the friend she’s asking the favor on behalf of. On the surface, he’s a family man, but he’s very particular about allowing his family to be in the public eye.

“I found this to be interesting, so I did some more digging. I found the connection between our Sim and this wife. She was one of Symphony’s clients.

“She lived in Boston with Sim for a bit at the estate. She was actually in hiding with her for about six or seven months. But you’re not going to believe who she was hiding from.”

“I’m listening,” Tasha says as she narrows her eyes at me.

“Dez Demarco.”

“As in Alejandro Demarco’s younger brother?”

“One and the same.”

“Do as Sim asks. This will be interesting,” Tasha purrs.

“I thought you would say that.”

“Now, about this retreat. It is a business trip, but I want everyone to have fun. I also want Brad’s brother to feel like family.

“Bradley has asked for this favor because his brother Trevor needs a hand up. His soon-to-be ex-wife has made his life hell and he has four kids he’s done everything for. That’s our type of guy, LaSalle, and I want everything to work out for him.”

“Did we decide on whether or not I should just kill that bitch?”

I’ve never liked Brad’s sister-in-law. I wanted to take her head off years ago. The way she looked at my children and sized up my husband was enough for me to offer to kill her.

“No, there has not been a decision made as of yet,” Tasha replies.

“Oh, you will decide in my favor. I know you will. Let’s get this planning done. I’m ready to head to Texas,” I say with a smile.

CHAPTER 50

Come Work for Us

Cameron

I’m sitting outside of my Texas home, watching my boys play in the front yard. Amina comes out of the house and sits on the porch swing. My family is picture-perfect.

My throat turns dry and it’s not from the sun baking through the windshield. I swallow hard and look down at the offer that guy placed into my hand. He said his name was Uri.

I remember receiving the call from Nico a week ago. I looked up M.H.D. Group. They have a nice roster of agents. I heard some good things about them, but this offer.

I’d be able to stay at home with my family. They would be paying me more than my worth. The only problem is, one of the coaches I asked about them mentioned probable ties to the mob.

“I can’t bring that back into her life,” I breathe out as I drag my hand down my now sweaty face.

I’ve been sitting here trying to get my thoughts together so I can talk to my wife. I don’t even know if I should bring this up. We both want me home in New York. Working with Justice Mack and Tim Essex would be career changing.
