She smirked and briefly looked back over at my friends. “Just heard it thrown around.”

Eros whispered into Sawyer’s ear, then found his way back to Dani. Dani slipped off her chair and dragged Eros back into a Lust Room, throwing the waiter behind the bar a sultry smirk. Sawyer cleared his throat.

“I have to head out, but we should talk later, Acaros,” Sawyer said. “It’s important.”

While Sawyer wasn’t one of my immediate friends anymore, back in the day, we used tosharea lot of things … women included. But he had gotten away from the life of constant hookups a while ago after meeting one girl who ended up breaking his heart.

I had never understood it—or him—until now.

Until Iza.

“You know where to find me,” I said, gaze fixed on Qina.

“Bye, Sawyer,” Qina squeaked, waggling her fingers at him.

As Sawyer departed from The Lounge, I slammed my hand on the counter. “If I find out that you said anything to Iza to scare her away, we are going to have bigger problems than me sucking your soul and killing you.”

“Like what?”

“Your sisters, dead. Your lineage, over.” I stepped closer to her when she didn’t react to the first two threats because I knew what would really get her. “And the crown that you’re in line to inherit in Envy … that crown will be Iza’s.”

CHAPTER

NINETEEN

IZA

With the lights dimmed,I sat in front of a Ouija board with Mikayla.

Jada walked in through the bedroom door and plopped down on her stomach, a bowl of popcorn in her hands. “We summon any shit yet?”

Mikayla had crystals scattered across my floor and sage burning from my nightstand, the smoke making my eyes teary. While sitting in a meditation position, she opened one eye. “It takes a long time. Patience.”

Jada popped some popcorn into her mouth. “Ya know, I’m going to say it again. Demons might be real, but this magic that you’re doing is definitely not.” She snorted and kicked her legs back and forth. “Don’t you think, Iza?”

I pressed my lips together as Mikayla cut her glare to me. “Of course not.”

Once Mikayla looked away, I glanced toward Jada and snickered.

“Laugh all you want,” Mikayla said, breathing in the sage. “You’re getting fucked tonight.”

“Oh, no.” Jada giggled. “Definitely don’t summon a guy with bulging muscles and a hu?—”

“Shh!” Mikayla interrupted. “It’s happening.”

We waited and waited and waited. And nothing.

“I don’t think?—”

Thunder boomed overhead, and then the lights flickered. Warmth pooled in my stomach at the thought of Acaros showing up. We might’ve been summoning sex demons to make him jealous, but he’d show up, right?

“All right!” Mikayla leaped up from her seat and grabbed Jada’s hand. “Now, come!”

Jada stumbled to her feet and grabbed the bowl, popcorn falling out of it all the way to the bedroom. “Where are we going?!” Jada said, mouth full of buttery popcorn. “I thought we were summoning sexy?—”

“You gotta be in your bed for them to come.”

“Oh my Lord,” Jada said from the hallway, and I could justhearthe eye roll in her voice.
