We all stared at each other for a few long moments without saying a single word. My heart pounded against my chest, threatening to jump out of it. I swallowed hard, my throat beyond dry.
“Laila has medicine if you need it,” Constantino said, breaking the silence. “For nausea.” He glanced at his wife. “She’ll make you feel better if you ever … get sick in the morning.”
My eyes widened, and I snapped my head to the window.
Is he talking about what I think he’s talking about?
“Isn’t that right, doll?” Constantino said.
I could feel Laila’s worried gaze on me. “If she needs it,” she whispered.
I ran a hand through my hair and looked out the window. Fuck, this is dark.
Never in my life had I done something so … so shady.
While part of me wanted to tell her, I couldn’t get myself to open my mouth. She wanted me to stay with them longer than a year, and if I got pregnant, this would bind me to them forever. And … not only that, but she would also have to choose between her friend and her family.
She would have to choose us.

As soon as we landed, I led Laila and Sage to a car and ordered Riccardo and the guards to bring them home and to keep them there for the rest of the night. Laila lingered by my side before slipping into the car.
“Where are you going?” she asked, staring up at me through wide eyes.
“I have someone I need to take care of,” I said, opening the door and ushering them inside the car.
“We just got home,” she said.
After sighing softly, I nodded and shut the car door. I didn’t want to disappoint her, but I needed to take care of that bitch, Bethany. She had hurt Sage before we left—which was one of the reasons I had wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Laila rolled down her window. “Please, be quick.”
But I couldn’t make her promises. I was going to kick the shit out of that bitch and take my time. She would know not to fuck with any of us any longer. All she did was feed into my wife’s insecurities and try to get into her head about me cheating.
We had been so great this week, and I didn’t want that to change.
Especially with the way she treated Sage.
My gaze drifted to Sage, and I grimaced. I should’ve never kissed her last night because, now, I couldn’t get her out of my fucking head. All this morning, she had become my obsession, something I had to protect.
She gave me a small smile, and I forced myself to look away.
Once their car disappeared from view, I slid into another black car with a couple of other men and placed my phone to my ear, calling Pietro. He picked up on the third ring.
“Have fun on your vacation?” he hummed. “Sleep with both of them?”
“Cut the shit,” I growled, not about to be bullied by my own brother. “Bring Bethany underground.”
He paused. “Underground? Why?”
“Do it,” I growled and shut off the phone.
I wasn’t going to answer any of his questions over the phone. I didn’t have time for his shit and really didn’t need to explain anything in my personal life to him either. He might’ve been my brother, but he didn’t know shit about my relationships.
“Drive Underground,” I said to the guard.
