“Sorta.”

“I don’t know,” she hummed, snorting. “Have you thought about Mrs. Dawson?”

“Why would Mrs. Dawson kidnap me?” I asked, but she was the second person to bring it up to me today. And while I didn’t think that Mrs. Dawson had the damn strength behind that harsh force that had knocked me out … I didn’t know.

She shrugged. “Because I always see her flirting with freshmen who don’t know any better. She probably has a thing for you too. And she’s blonde.”

I scrunched my nose. “Ew.”

“Yeah, ew.” Sandra slammed her locker. “It’s gross how handsy she is with kids.”

“What would she want with me?” I asked. “I have never once shown interest in her in my entire life here. She used to flirt with me, too, in freshman year, but I had always had my sights set on Maddie that I ignored her most of the time.”

“Don’t know,” Sandra said. “And it’s not my problem. But rumor has it that she’s gotten possessive and jealous of guys she used to flirt with in past years. I heard that she slept with a couple of students three years ago and … paid them to keep quiet.”

That wasn’t even the worst of it, especially if Maddie had walked in on her and Spencer …

“Anyway, gots to go,” Sandra said. “Class time. Have fun with your little investigation.”

CHAPTER65

MADDIE

“Finally,” I whispered to myself on Friday night, settling into my plane seat. “Some downtime.”

These past few weeks, Redwood had been nonstop drama. We both needed some time away from everything. And I was ecstatic that Alec wanted me to come along to oversee practice with a professional hockey team!

While I wanted Alec to have the full support of his family and I had even encouraged him to mention to his parents that we were leaving, they hadn’t seemed to care. I mean, his parents said that theywantedto come, but their responses sounded so dry. And if they hadreallywanted to come that badly, then they could’ve grabbed some tickets on this relatively empty flight. They had enough damn money to rent a private jet for the weekend.

After closing my eyes, I growled to myself. I hated them too. So fake.

I just hoped that Oliver wouldn’t try any more shit with Alec’s mom. If he did while we were gone, then I had made sure that I would know. I might’ve gone behind Alec’s back to keep tabs on Oliver.

Imani had an in with Poison, which meant that she could send me security footage of Alec’s street. And if I caught that damn bastard sneaking around with Mrs. Wolfe again, I would punch his teeth in—for real this time.

When the overhead cabin lights turned off, Alec laid a blanket over our laps and rested his head on my shoulder to use me as a pillow. This kid had a neck pillow and still wanted to use me as a?—

He slipped his hand between my legs.

I arched a brow and glanced over at him.

Here I am, thinking he wanted my shoulder to fall asleep on. SMH.

“What are you doing?”

“It’s an overnight flight, Maddie,” he mumbled into my ear. “And we’re in first class.”

“Alec,” I whispered, glancing around nervously and hoping nobody was watching, “if you tell me to relax with people around us, I’m going to knock you into next year! We only have this sheet covering us.”

“That’s enough for my fingers.”

“You can’t be?—”

“You’re lucky that I don’t sit you on my lap and shove my cock into you, Cupcake.”

Sucking in a breath, I pressed my lips together and glanced around to make sure that nobody else had heard the profanity that just came out of his mouth on a public plane. What is he even thinking?! Does he want to get caught by the flight?—

“How’re we doing?” the flight attendant asked. “Do we need anything over here?”
