Sure enough—there she was. A Castleton University hoodie on, a pair of jeans, and her white leather sneakers. Her cheeks were pink and her smile bright as our eyes caught. And fuck, how could I stay away?

“See you later,” I said, already jogging over to my girl.

My arms were already open when she met me in the middle, and I wrapped her up in a hug.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, unable to hide the surprise from my voice.

Her voice was all breathy. “I missed you.”

I chuckled. “I missed you too, baby, but I’d have been back tomorrow.”

She hummed. “Maybe I just couldn’t wait anymore.” Her eyes were full of heat as she took in my appearance, her gaze lingering over one specific part of my body. While Coach insisted we show up to games looking nice and in suits, more often than not, we left wearing sweats after we showered.

I knew how much she loved these gray sweatpants.

“Mmm.” I pressed my nose into her hair. “But I’m sharing a room, sunshine.”

“I’m not.” Audrey slipped a room key into my hand. “Later,” she murmured into my ear. “Come up to room 259.”

I swallowed roughly.

“I’ll be waiting.” She pressed a kiss to my cheek and then disappeared into the elevator—to her room upstairs, where she’d be waiting for me.

Holy fuck.

I pressed my hand over my heart.Tonight.This was happening tonight.

CHAPTER 31

Audrey

Was this plan insane?Certifiably. And yet, there was no denying that I was tired of waiting for this. For him. What were we waiting for? Something special? It would be special because it was us.

Because of all the feelings overflowing in my chest.

Love. I loved him. Capital L, no mistaking it.

There was no way to deny that, not anymore.

So I’d driven up here to see him and booked a hotel room.

I’d gone and watched his game, sitting in the visiting students’ section and watching his team absolutely destroy the home team. No one had warned me how hot and bothered I’d get by watching my boyfriend play his sport. Because the lethal focus and the determination on his face as he ran towards the goal before throwing it into the net?

God, I was a mess.

I’ll be waiting.

Parker’s face when he walked into the hotel and saw me had been worth every part of this plan. Every dollar I’d spent on the hotel room where I now sprawled out over the king bed, presenting myself like a meal for him to feast on.

There was a box of condoms on the nightstand, as well as a bottle of wine and a bowl of strawberries. A girl couldn’t be too prepared, right?

My clit was aching, begging for my touch, clenching in anticipation for the main event. Finally, finally. We both wanted this so badly. And that we’d waited this long was a testament to how much we cared about each other. Loved each other, even though we hadn’t said the words.

And as much as I wanted him to know, I wanted tonight to be special first.

I heard the mechanical lock on the door as the key was used, and my heart fluttered.Parker.

“Hi.” I played with the ends of my hair, left down in loose waves.
