“Yes.” I leaned down to brush my nose against hers. “Now we get to be happy.”
I guided her outside onto the balcony. Thousands of demons were collected below, all of them cheering for us as we waved hello, but that wasn’t what I wanted to show her.
Luna blinked as her eyes took in the view, her hand reaching up to capture the small flakes floating down from the sky. “It’s… snowing?”
“Do you like it?” I grinned, watching with rapt attention as she stared in childlike wonder.
“How… Did you do this?”
“I had help.” Magic.
The snowflakes collected in her hair, dotting her pale skin before melting. She closed her eyes and inhaled the crisp scent.
“I love the snow,” she murmured. “Willow always loved fall best, but I’m partial to winter.”
“I know.” I grinned, brushing the snowflakes off her cheeks. “Don’t forget, I listen, wife.”
She blushed, “But I thought it didn’t snow here. The climate is…”
I shrugged, not wanting to ruin the wonder.
Rustling came from the open doors, a blur of activity, and when I turned, I found the two people we most wanted to see.
“Willow!” my wife exclaimed as her sister hurried over, dressed in a dark green gown and wrapped in a dark fur stole. Damien’s hand was tight in hers like he couldn’t bear to let her go.
A feeling I understood now all too well.
“Hey, Lune.” She let go of my brother to wrap her arms around Luna. “I missed you.”
“You have no idea.” Luna rested her head against Willow’s shoulder. “I think you need to visit more.”
She smiled. “I think that can be arranged.”
Damien held out his hand for me to shake. “You did it,” was what he finally said, his voice deep.
“I did.” We hadn’t held a funeral for the bastard we called our father, though there was no body to burn, anyway. He didn’t deserve it. In the last month, I’d come to terms with my role in my father’s death. Part of me had always known someday I’d be responsible for his end, but I had hoped it wouldn’t play out the way he did. But harming Luna, risking our unborn children—that was something I couldn’t forgive.
“I’m only sorry I wasn’t here to help.”
“No.” I couldn’t help the shake of my head. “I’m glad you didn’t have to see it. It was my burden to bear.”
“It shouldn’t have been.” Damien placed a hand on my shoulder. “You take on too many burdens, brother.”
Probably, but that wasn’t what I’d come here today to discuss.
“I’m glad you have Willow.”
“I know I was worried when you basically kidnapped her sister, but… I am happy you found your mate, too. Luna seems happy.”
“She is. We are. Speaking of that…” I slipped my hand back into Luna’s, addressing them both. “We have something we want to tell you.”
The tip of Luna’s nose was pink, but the smile that covered her face was dazzling.Breathtaking. Just like she was.
Willow leaned her head on Damien’s shoulder, an eyebrow raised in intrigue.
Luna didn’t leave them waiting for long. “I’m pregnant.” My wife looked up at me, happiness filling her eyes.
“You’re… what?” Her sister’s jaw dropped. Those eyes—just a shade darker than Luna’s—were wide.
