Because the witch who was fated to sit by my brother’s side… was none other than Willow’s sister.Luna.
Time was running out.
The worst part was I knew Willow didn’t belong with me, anyway. She was too bright and beautiful to go back to my world of darkness. This place—this town of witches—it was where she belonged. I could feel it. Though that didn’t stop me from wanting her.
I couldn’t believe that she’d been here for twenty-eight years and I hadn’t known that she was here. That she existed at all. But… in all my years of life, I’d hardly come to the human realm. I’d never expected to find my mate here.
“There’s my handsome demon,” my girl beamed, coming to stand by my side and sliding her arm around my waist.
“Hi, Wil,” I murmured before dropping a kiss on the top of her head.
“Hi.” Her eyes lit up. She’d curled her hair, letting it fall down around her in waves, and an old-fashioned witch hat sat on top. My witch looked perfect, down to the little star earrings and her striped stockings.
I was obsessed. I couldn’t wait to take them off of her later.
“You look beautiful. I love this.” I fiddled with the cape that was tied around her neck.
She giggled. “It’s not too much?”
I groaned. “That would be impossible. Nothing you do could ever be too much.”
“Oh.” Her cheeks pinked.
How did I get her to understand I meant every word? I brushed a hair away from her face before playing with her earring. “You look stunning. It’s so you. I can’t imagine you being anything less than that.” I dragged a finger down her throat. “I almost don’t want anyone else to see you like this.”
She kissed my cheek. “You’re the sweetest demon I’ve ever met.”
“I’m theonlydemon you’ve ever met,” I grunted.
“That you know of.”
“And we’re going to keep it that way,” I growled, pinning her in my arms as she laughed.
Kissing her, because if this was all the time we had left, I wanted to savor every bit of it.
Especially if it was all we’d have left.
NINETEEN

All Hallows’ Eve.My favorite night of the year was here.
The air was filled with children laughing, candy wrappers tearing, and the smell of sugar in the air. Damien was at my side, his hand curled around mine, hardly an inch left between us.
It was the perfect Halloween night, the moon high in the sky, shining down on us.
The entire town was abuzz with life, and for once, everything felt right. The loneliness that had plagued me just over a month ago was gone, and it all had to do with the demon who had chosen me.
My heart was full. Lighter.
It was too soon, wasn’t it? A month was hardly enough time to get to know someone. Let alone to fall in love with them. And yet… I had.
I loved him.
Dammit, I’d fallen in love with my demon, all else be damned.
And I knew in my heart—I wanted him to stay. I didn’t want this to end.
