Together we take a warm bath and wash one another as the water we’ve been sitting in drains so we can rinse with clean water. When we’re clean, Kingston helps me out of the tub and dries me off before carrying me back to our bed. With one hand he pulls the blankets down and slides me on my side of the bed. After covering me up, Kingston slides on a pair of sweatpants to go make sure all the doors and windows are locked and our security system is armed. He walks back in our room with two bottles of water and hands me one as he slides in bed next to me. I move to his side and we cuddle close as my eyes slide closed and sleep claims me with a smile on my face.

Chapter Twenty-Five

King

AFTER A SLEEPLESS night, I wake up alone in bed. It’s still dark outside and I have no clue it’s the middle of the night still. She went to bed early and still isn’t getting the sleep she needs Brynn was up all night long getting sick, rushing to the bathroom every hour or so. There is no way in hell I was going to let her suffer through her morning sickness on her own, so I stayed up with her. We talked, laughed, and read a little bit of the books about pregnancy. I’ve spent hours researching things we’ll need for the baby so we get the safest products our baby can have when it comes to car seats, a crib, and anything else we’ll need for our little one. Brynn has read every bit of information I’ve printed out because she’s just as worried about our baby as I am. We refuse to take any chances with his or her life because we didn’t want to research things and just buy something because it’s cute or trending. Brynn and I are on the same wavelength when it comes to this stuff which only solidifies my knowledge that she’s my soulmate and is the other half of me.

Getting out of bed, I head downstairs after making sure Brynn’s not in the bathroom getting sick again. When I find it empty, I worry about where she is. My steps quicken as I get downstairs and listen for any sign of Brynn in the house. Looking to the left of me, I see a light shining out from my girl’s office. Making my way there, I stand in the door frame just watching her. Brynn’s face is scrunched up in concentration as she focuses on her computer screen. The tip of her tongue is sticking out between her full lips. Right now she looks fucking sexy as hell. The tee-shirt she’s wearing is mine and I can guarantee she’s not wearing pants over the panties she’s wearing. Her hair is thrown up in a messy bun with several strands of hair framing her face after they’ve fallen out of her hair tie. A pair of black framed glasses sits on her desk next to her that she wears occasionally while she’s working and there’s not a single trace of make-up on her pale face.

“What are ya doin’ up, Kitten?” I ask her after making a little bit of noise so I don’t scare her.

“I couldn’t sleep and my stomach started to settle. I didn’t want to keep you up, Kingston. You’ve been by my side through everything and need your rest. You’re exhausted,” she tells me, not taking her eyes off the screen in front of her.

I watch her for a few minutes after walking behind her chair and watching what she’s doing. Resting my hands on her shoulders, I gently massage her as she moans low in her throat. My girl loves a good massage and I have no problem giving them to her. She’s carrying my baby and it’s the least I can do for her. My eyes linger on the computer screen as she starts to shake under my hands and I worry something is wrong.

“I did it!” she suddenly cries out, excitement filling her voice as I watch her type out two words—the end. “My book is finished, Kingston.”

“I’m so fuckin’ proud of you, Kitten. You haven’t let anythin’ hold you back from finishin’ this and now it’s finally done. What do you need to do now?” I ask her, a smile on my face as she tilts her head back to look at me.

“I don’t know. Your mom is gonna have another author she knows get a hold of me. She’ll help me through the process and figure out what I need to do now that the first draft is done. I do want to go through and read it once again to do some self-editing. Your mom is working on a cover for me already and we’ve been talking and tossing ideas back and forth on the phone. If I don’t hear from the woman your mom is sending my way, I’ll put a post out on social media to see if anyone else can help me,” she tells me, letting me help her out of the chair before she stretches her body from head to toe.

“Why don’t we celebrate? It’s the middle of the night, but we can figure somethin’ out until we fall asleep. Then we can have a proper celebration once the stores and everythin’ open up,” I ask her, my voice muffled after I bury my face in her neck.

“I want a sundae. I know I shouldn’t have one, but that’s what I’m craving right now. Vanilla ice cream with some of the peanut butter topping, some candy, and whip cream. Can we do that?” she asks me, wrapping her arms around my stomach as I drop mine down around her waist.

“You want a sundae, we’ll have sundaes because that’s what you want. Then we can watch a movie on the couch,” I tell her as her smile gets even larger.

I lead her into the kitchen and get her settled onto a stool at the island. Moving around the kitchen, I grab everything I’ll need for us to have our sundaes. Someone got us those tall glasses to have them in and it means my girl has more ice cream than what she’d have in a regular bowl. I don’t let her help me do anything because I can see she’s tired and right now she’s actually got an appetite. If there’s one thing I worry about with this pregnancy is that Brynn lacks an appetite. She needs to eat for the baby and herself and has been forcing herself to eat because she understands the importance of eating and making sure she gets enough nutrients on a daily basis.

When I’m done with the sundaes, I carry them over to the couch and get Brynn settled in. She lays back against the couch and I make sure the pillows under her head and back are in the right spots before dragging the blanket we have draped over the back of the couch over her body. I hand her the remote as she turns on the TV and finds a movie for us to watch. She chooses an action movie for us to watch. I sit down on the couch next to her and rest her legs on my lap. After we’re both comfortable and the movie is started, we dig into our ice cream. I watch Brynn eat making sure she’s not gonna get sick and rush off to the bathroom down here to lose the little bit of food she’s managed to eat after losing her lunch the last time before I fell asleep.

Once we’re done with our treat for Brynn finishing her book, I lay down on the couch with my girl and hold her close to me. Neither one of us says a word as we watch a new action movie. It’s one I’ve been wanting to watch since the trailers first started being advertised. Brynn and I talked about it every time I saw an ad for the movie and I have no doubt that’s why we’re watching it now. Even though we’re supposed to be celebrating her, she’s still doing this for me just because that’s the person she is. It’s not long before my girl drifts off to sleep in my arms and I let her sleep without trying to carry her up to bed because I know she’ll wake up.

I’m jolted awake bya scream coming from Brynn. She’s still lying on the couch with me and I release my arms from around her body, looking down at her. I’m instantly awake and alert as I search the living room for any sign of a threat.

“What’s wrong, Kitten?” I ask her, my voice full of worry and fear.
