Making my way over to the table, I lean down and kiss Brynn as she tips her face up to me with a smile that doesn’t reach her tired eyes. The conversation around us fades into nothing as we devour one another. Finally, I pull back and rest my forehead against hers. We look at one another without any words needing to be exchanged.

“What’s goin’ on, King? Did you find anythin’ new?” Vault asks me after a few minutes as Hope and Annabell get up and leave the room as I sit down next to Brynn and lace our fingers together.

“I did. That stupid fuck is here in Pine View. Got an apartment somehow a mile from Brynn’s house. I still have to pull the blueprints for the place, but I did finally get an address. Still can’t find a phone number for him which means if he has a phone at all, it’s a burner. Still not seein’ him havin’ a job either. Not sure how he’s payin’ for the apartment, but he fucked up when he put the place in his name. Just needed to take a break so I can give you an update,” I answer my President as Brynn’s hand tightens in mine.

“You’ve been in there for hours already today, King. It’s time for you to take a break. I was gettin’ ready to send your girl in to get you,” Vault says, knowing how I get lost in my work when I’ve got any kind of lead or can’t find anything to help us.

That’s when it’s club business. This is personal because it’s about my girl and her safety and ability to live her life free is more important than anything to me. Brynn deserves to live her life any way she chooses and not be held in the clubhouse where she can’t even go outside on her own. I’ve let up slightly and take her outside a few times a week so she can get fresh air. Growing up in a club, she understands where I’m coming from and doesn’t push against anything I ask her to do in order to remain safe and away from Jerome.

“My eyes are botherin’ me right now. Would’ve taken a break regardless of if my girl came in to get me or not. Plus, I needed to see her,” I tell the table around me as I pull Brynn into my side and wrap my arm around her shoulders.

“Do you want something to eat?” Brynn asks me, her voice soft and gentle as she looks at me.

“No, Kitten. I had a big breakfast and I’m not ready to eat again. Did you eat?” I ask her as she shakes her head in response.

Brynn has a hard time eating when she’s stressed out. She’s too nauseous to put her food in her body and it’s something I’m trying to help her with. Today is one of the days she needs to eat because she really didn’t have anything of substance yesterday. Getting out of my chair, Vault lets me know he’s sending out a message to the guys letting them know church is in an hour. That gives me enough time to get my girl food and pull up what I need so we have all the information to go after Jerome and get this sick fuck away from my girl. We’re not gonna let him go like Blood did. He’ll take his last breath at my hands and I can’t wait to make him suffer and pay for what he’s done to her so far.

After making a sandwich and grabbing some of Brynn’s favorite chips, I take the plate out to her and set it down in front of her. Kian grabs a bottle of water from behind the bar and brings it over to set in front of her. Brynn isn’t a big drinker and always chooses soda or water when we’ve been at the bar here in the common room hanging out with everyone else. Personally, I don’t give a fuck if she drinks or not. It’s her own decision to make and I’m not about to force her into doing something she doesn’t want to do.

“Come to my office if you need me, Kitten. Please try to eat half of what’s on your plate. You didn’t really eat yesterday and I’m worried,” I tell her, my voice low enough so only she can hear me as Annabell and Hope make their way back in the common room.

“I’ll try,” she says, tipping her head for a kiss before I make my way back to my office with Valor following behind me.

Together we get to work pulling the blueprints for Jerome’s apartment and then lay them out on a table I have behind where I sit at my desk. We go over all the exits, ways to surround the building, and making sure there’s no one living in the apartment above the stupid fuck. Jerome’s on the first floor of the house that holds two apartments. Thankfully, the top floor is currently empty so we don’t have to worry about anyone hearing us if we find him there. No, we won’t deal with the trash where he lives. We’ll bring him to the clubhouse so we can take care of him any way we see fit.

“King has brought usall the information we need to get to Jerome and get his ass back to the clubhouse,” Vault says after I go over everything I’ve discovered about the twatwaffle in question. “We’re gonna head there in ten minutes. You all know the plan and where you’re supposed to be. Kian and Deegan will be the Prospects with us. I want you all to know that this needs to be handled with care. King, have you updated Blood on the situation?”

“No. I don’t want to make the call until we have him in our hands,” I answer my President as he looks at me.

“Good idea. Alright. Everyone get ready so we can head out. It will take us fifteen minutes to get to the asshole’s apartment. We’re in and out with him bein’ brought back here. Keep your eyes peeled when we leave the compound in case he’s lurkin’ around here tryin’ to find a way inside,” Vault says before slamming the gavel on the table in front of him to close church as we all stand from our seats and leave the room grabbing our phones and weapon on the way out.

Ghost and Devil pull Deegan and Kian aside to let2²them know what’s going on. Those two have stepped up and been there whenever we need them and don’t ask any questions. They help the ol’ ladies and watch over the kids here on the compound. I have my doubts about one or two of the guys Prospecting for us currently, but I hope I’m wrong about them. Only time will tell though.

I head for my room and grab my gun. While it’s not my preferred weapon, I always have one on me when I leave the compound. We never know what’s going to happen when we’re away from here so I make sure I’m always prepared for anything.

Brynn is sitting at my desk. She looks up when I enter the bedroom and stops working.

“Got the blueprints and we went over them in church. Gonna head to grab the fucker now. I don’t want you in the common room when we get back, Kitten. We won’t be bringin’ him in through the front door of the clubhouse, but I don’t want you any closer to him than you have to be,” I tell her, knowing she doesn’t want to be anywhere near Jerome if she can help it.

“Okay. I’ll stay in here and try to get some work done. I can’t concentrate today,” she says, offering me a weak smile. “I did manage to eat everything you brought me.”

“Good, Kitten. If you can’t concentrate on work, take a nap or watch a movie. Don’t try to force your writin’, Brynn. You know it’s only gonna lead to writer’s block,” I tell her gently because I know she’s talked about this with me in the past.

“I know. I might do that,” she says, standing from the chair and stretching her body right in front of me.

I pull her into my arms and hold her close while kissing her long and deep. She wraps her arms over my shoulders and digs her nails into the shorter strands of hair at the nape of my neck. Brynn knows that drives me wild when she does it and I’ll be playing after we get this stalker fuck off the streets and take care of him.

“Kitten, I gotta go. The guys are waitin’ for me,” I manage to groan out when I finally break our kiss.

“I know.”

Grabbing my gun from the safe in my closet, I tuck it in the back of my jeans after making sure the safety is on and it’s loaded. Leaving my girl in our room with one last kiss, I head down to the common room where everyone is waiting on me. Vault looks at me and I shake my head at his silent question about how Brynn’s doing. She’s trying to hold it together and appear strong, but inside she’s a fucking mess. One I have no problem taking care of. I will always do what’s best for her and if that means putting her back together one piece at a time, that’s what I’ll do.

Stepping into Jerome’sapartment, the place is musty and empty. Other than the furniture that appears as if it’s been here since the late seventies, there’s nothing even indicating someone living here. We slowly walk through the apartment in small groups until I enter what is the only bedroom in the rundown place. The first thing I see has my blood boiling and all the color draining from my face. On the wall across from the door I’m currently standing in is the long wall of the room. Every inch is filled with pictures of my girl. They start when she’s young and I can see her as she grew up over the years. This sick fuck has been following her for a very long time. I’m gonna say over half of her life this bastard has been stalking her and taking pictures of her on a daily basis.

“He’s not here,” Vault says, walking up to me and stopping just behind my shoulder. “Are you fuckin’ kiddin’ me right now? This is worse than I ever thought it would be.”

“Yeah. I can’t bring myself to step foot in this room to see if there’s anythin’ else,” I tell him honestly as we remain standing just outside the doorway.
