“Okay,” I whisper. “Is there a room I can use to catch some sleep?”

Kingston doesn’t respond with words. He lifts the edge of his blanket on the opposite side of where I was just sitting.

“You’ll be in here with me, Kitten. Not gonna let you out of my sight. Climb in bed and close your eyes. I’ll keep you safe while you sleep. No one is gonna fuckin’ get close to you,” he says, the promise of his words filling his voice as I slowly make my way around the other side of his bed and remove my shoes before sliding in next to him.

Kingston puts everything back in the tote and closes the lid. He sets it on the floor before sliding down in bed and pulling me into his arms. The second his arms wrap around me, I try to let the exhaustion pull me under. It doesn’t take long for me to realize that’s not gonna happen as easy as I hoped. Images of being taken fill my mind as my eyes snap open and I start trembling even harder in Kingston’s arms.

“I’ve got you, Kitten. You’re safe in my bed and need to sleep. I’ll be right here when you wake up and keep your nightmares at bay while you sleep,” he murmurs in my ear while wrapping his arms tighter around me.

“Thank you, Kingston,” I whisper, sinking deeper into his pillow.

The scent of mint, motor oil, leather, and something uniquely Kingston surrounds me. Finally, I relax my body enough for sleep to pull me under. The images floating through my mind this time are of Kingston. Of him protecting me and making sure I know he’s never going to let me get hurt as long as he’s around. Even when he’s not in town, he’ll have plans in place to ensure no one gets close to me. The images in my mind definitely get more graphic the longer I sleep, but I don’t try to get away from them. Kingston fills my dreams and I don’t give a fuck what that looks like.

Chapter Eleven

King

WATCHING MY KITTENsleep, I try to push the rage consuming me down to nothing. The last thing she needs right now is to know how fucking pissed off I am. My entire body is trembling as much as hers from the rage coursing through my veins. I don’t want to scare her, but this shit is gonna end and I don’t give a fuck what I have to do to make that happen. Including going to her family to talk to them about the shit she’s been suffering through on her own. She’s been sleeping for almost six hours now and I’ve done nothing but watch her. Hope hasn’t entered my room to bring us food or anything. I sent her a message telling her Brynn was sleeping and not to allow anyone in my room because if she got woken up, I’d be pissed. She assured me no one would enter until I let her know Brynn was awake and ready to eat something. That’s the next thing I need to do because I’ll take care of every need this woman has.

Picking up my phone from where it sits on the nightstand next to my bed, I pull up Jinx’ contact and send him a message.

Me: Gonna need a ride. Not sure we’ll be back today. Gotta make a phone call and let Brynn know where I’m going.

Setting my phone next to me on the bed, I wait for my best friend to message me back. Yes, I have a phone call to make, but I have to talk to Brynn before that call is made. Plus, I have to talk to Vault and let him know what’s going on. He’ll need to be okay with me going into another club’s territory.

“Kitten, I need you to wake up,” I practically whisper, hating the fact that I have to wake her up.

“Mhm,” she mumbles, sinking down further into the blankets while pushing closer to my body.

I can’t stop the erection from growing in my sweatpants with Brynn’s luscious ass pressed up against me. The last thing she needs to do is feel any kind of pressure from me when sex is the last thing she needs to be thinking about. Right now, we need to figure out who’s after her and make sure they don’t get close to her at all. They’ve obviously gotten closer to her than she’s comfortable with considering they have pictures of her naked. That’s not something anyone else is gonna see from her again. Not unless it’s me and she’s writhing under my touch.

“Brynn, we need to talk,” I tell her again as her eyes pop open and a slow smile spreads across her face, lighting up her sleep-filled eyes while she turns to face me.

“What’s going on, Kingston?” she asks me, her voice softer than normal as she yawns and tries to cover it with her hand.

“I need to call your grandpa and have a talk with your family about this. If you have no clue who is after you, they might be able to give me an idea of someone you interacted with back home. The only reason I’m tellin’ you now is because I won’t keep any secrets from you,” I inform her as she instantly becomes alert and sits up in my bed.
