Ever since we got Ellie away from Infinity, life had been insane. First, surprising the fuck out of us, Edward Kensington accepted Milo’s offer. With some very strict stipulations, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Especially when most of them revolved around Emmett.
Elise had been confused about why he took the deal after what Emmett did, but Milo had pointed out that he was a businessman first, and wouldn’t pass up this kind of opportunity.
Then one by one, we took down the key players of the organization. It was the most fun we’d had in years. Each person came into the meeting with a puffed-up ego, then left in pieces. We outlined the most damning evidence we had on them, ranging from secrets Emmett acquired to pictures and reports from Clownface. We only provided one or two pictures, so they’d always wonder what else we had in print. Five minutes into it, they signed away the majority stake in their company for our promise to destroy the evidence we had. We never would. But we wouldn’t release it as long as they walked the straight and narrow.
The second they deviated from the path, their reputation was ruined, and their company would be sold off in pieces.
Surprising the fuck out of us, Milo’s dad didn’t put up a fight as we orchestrated every single piece of our plan. We didn’t touch him because Milo seemed to feel guilty, and he happily watched us from inside his tower in the city. It was almost like he had wanted them to get shredded.
“Jules, is that everything in your room?” Elise walked in, her light blonde hair in a messy bun, dressed in one of my old sweatshirts. She was always beautiful, but when she wore our clothes, she was sexy as hell.
Yes,I signed. Then I turned to her and slowed my movements.Let’s run away together. You, me, Ellie. Maybe even Emmett. But Milo stays the fuck here.
She laughed, and a lightness I’d only started to recently experience filled me. “Yeah, okay. I get you’re annoyed, but this is the best thing for all of us.”
Yeah, it was the best decision. I still hated moving.
“Besides, do you really think the Shack is the best place for Ellie at the age of fourteen?”
Fuck no.
“Okay then.” She walked up to me, and when I thought she was going to be sweet and give me a hug, she groped my ass. Both cheeks.
I kissed her anyway, and added a little bite for her cheeky behavior. Look at me, making jokes.
I pulled her fingers to my lips. ‘I love you.’
She softened, burrowing into my chest. ‘I love you more,’she mouthed.
Emmett
Two days later
Man,this was an awesome place.
The last few days, we’d spend nearly every waking minute moving into a new house. Right inside the foothills, but close enough to a major highway that we could be downtown in thirty minutes. The commute to Wellington wasn’t even that bad, clocking in at twenty-five minutes during non-rush hour times. Even rush hour wasn’t so bad, since Wellington was mostly off the beaten path.
“This is perfect, right?” Milo clapped me on the back as he came up behind me.
I stood in the foyer, looking up at the second floor, connected by a curved staircase and bordered with a black wrought iron railing. Similar to the Shack, but much more homey, with warm tones. Lots of space to fill in with family pictures too. Up top, three bedrooms lined the open hall, with additional living space on each end of the house. Somehow, Milo had found this gem for a steal. And bonus? All the upstairs bedrooms had master bathrooms. This house came with essentially three master bedrooms.
Then the basement was the ultimate family space, with a huge stone fireplace, gigantic flat screen, including foosball, air hockey, and pool tables all situated behind the living room area.
And Elliette had her own room and bathroom away from all of us. Perfect.
We could get up to almost anything upstairs, and she’d never hear us in the basement. My mind spun multiple scenarios in just a few seconds.
“This is amazing. A perfect fit for us.” Yeah, I was grinning like an idiot. I couldn’t help myself.
“Emmett!” Elise yelled from the second floor. She was definitely peeved.
“What did you do now?” Milo sighed.
I shrugged and started the jog up the stairs. “It was for your benefit too.”
There she was, the love of my life, the keeper of my heart, the holder of my nuts. I meant that in all seriousness. She was a ball buster, man. There would never be a time when she didn’t call us on our shit or put us in our place, when we needed it.
I loved it.
