“Shit,” Parker spoke. “He’s the devil in disguise.”
“She had to get someone like that to go up against you three.” She smiled. “Take care of this for me. I have to get back to the office.”
I leaned back in my chair and stared at my brothers after our mother left the conference room.
“Morgan is staying at my place now,” I blurted out.
“What?” Julian chuckled.
“Since the Williamson case is over, I told her I can’t pay for her hotel suite anymore. She said she would stick around for a while, so I told her she could temporarily move in with me until she gets things figured out.”
“Who are you, and what have you done with our brother?” Parker asked.
“Bro, you could have kept paying for that suite.” Julian pointed at me. “You want her at home with you.”
“Maybe I do.” I looked out the window. “I offered her a permanent job here at the firm. She said she’ll think about it.”
“You’re in love with her,” Parker said. “Don’t try to deny it.”
“Honestly, I don’t know what I feel. I do know that I can’t stop thinking about her when she’s not around, and I always want to be with her.”
The conference room door opened, and Olivia stuck her head inside.
“Roman, did you forget you have to be in court in thirty minutes?”
“Shit.” I glanced at my watch. “Thanks, Olivia.” I stood from my chair and looked at my brothers. “See what you can find out about this Vanessa Graves woman.”
CHAPTER 24
Morgan
I stood in front of my father’s grave, staring at his name on the headstone. Leaning over, I set the bouquet of flowers down and tucked my hands into my pockets.
“Hi, Daddy. It’s been a long time. God, I miss you so much. I’m back in California for now, and I finally found out the name of the man who killed you. I will get justice for you, Dad.” I turned and returned to the car, where Ollie waited.
“Are you okay, Morgan?” he asked when I climbed into the back.
“Yeah. Take me to Roman’s office.”
Walking down the hall, I heard Julian shout my name from his office. I stopped, backed up, and stepped inside.
“How are you, Morgan?” He smiled.
“I’m good, Julian. You?”
“Living the dream. I heard Roman offered you a position here.”
“He did. I haven’t decided yet what I’m doing.”
“Until you figure it out, how about another case?” He handed me a file.
“What’s this?” I opened the file and scanned it. “Wait a second. Your mother is being sued?”
“Yes. I need you to dig deep into this Vanessa Graves woman. And I mean deep. Between my brothers, you, and me, we’re going to destroy that bitch.”
“Okay. I’ll see what I can find. Do you know if Roman is in his office?”
“He’s in court. I don’t know you very well, but my brother has been different since you walked into his life.”
