“Simon? I don’t understand.”

“Detective Lambert had to have surgery and is in the hospital. Simon is taking over some of his cases.”

“And how did you get the judge to sign a warrant for a wire? There isn’t enough evidence yet.”

“He likes me.” I smiled. “Simon is coming to my hotel suite tonight to put the wire on. Then, we’ll head over to Gregory’s house and act like we need to speak to him about something.”

“There is no way you’ll get him to confess,” Roman said.

“Why do you doubt me?” I narrowed my eyes.

“Nobody in their right mind would confess to murder voluntarily.”

“Who said he would do it voluntarily?” I smiled, standing up. “I’ll see you later.”

“Morgan, wait!” he shouted.

I walked out and shut the door. The less he knew, the better.

CHAPTER 21

Roman

“Come on. We’re going to get some burgers at Harrison’s,” Julian said, popping his head through the door.

Grabbing my suit coat, I put it on and exited my office.

“Morgan seems to be in an exceptional mood today.” Julian grinned.

“She’s planning on getting Gregory to confess to murder tonight.” I sighed.

“How?” Parker’s brows furrowed.

“I don’t know.”

We climbed out of the car and entered Harrison’s Tavern.

“The Hamilton Brothers.” Bart grinned. “Three burgers, medium rare, with all the fixings coming right up.”

“Don’t forget a basket of onion rings,” Julian said.

We took a seat at our table. Nessa, one of the waitresses, walked over and set three beers before us.

“Thanks, Nessa.” I smiled. “So, listen to this,” I said to my brothers. “Morgan and Simon Kind got a warrant for a wire. She’s wearing it tonight when we go to Gregory’s house.”

“Simon Kind? How did he get involved?” Parker asked. “I thought Lambert was the lead detective on the Williamson’s case.”

“He’s in the hospital, so Simon is taking over some of his cases.

“Here are your burgers.” Nessa smiled, setting our plates down. “And a basket of onion rings. Enjoy, boys.”

“I tried to get a warrant for a wire last month for one of my cases, and the judge flat-out refused. Do you mind telling me how little Miss Morgan got one?” Julian’s brow arched.

“She told me that the judge likes her.” I rolled my eyes. “I told her no one in their right mind would voluntarily confess to murder.”

“And what did she say?” Parker asked.

“She said, and I quote, ‘Who said he would do it voluntarily’ and walked out of my office.”
