I pushed my head back into the mattress and gazed up at him. “Your woman?”

Did that mean. . .

“Don’t you get it, Princess?” he peppered kisses across my face and purred in my ear. “You’re the other half of my soul.”

Great, here come the tears.

I sucked back a shuddered breath and blinked away the water blurring my vision.

“I love you, Naomi, and I’ll fuck up anyone who even thinks about hurting you. Including your old man.”

Ilearned something tonight. When you have your dick in a girl, never bring up her old man. Especially if he’s a piece of shit like Naomi’s. Holy shit, did she go off. Fortunately, I was already set up to shut her the fuck up.

I fucked her three ways from stupid, and when she started right back into tearing me a new one, I did it again. Then once more for good measure. By the time I came down to the kitchen for some much-needed food, she was passed out cold.

Slapping a slice of bread on the top of my ham sandwich, I headed out to the bar to grab a couple of sodas. One for me and one just in case Naomi woke up.

Getting her to eat anything other than low-calorie no-carb crap was like pulling nails down a chalkboard, but I could guarantee she’d be thirsty, and I made sure we had diet stuff on hand just for her.

Not that she needed anything diet. The girl was skinny as fuck. She had put on a little weight, though. It wasn’t much, but I got to say, I loved having something to grab on to when I fucked her. Just thinking about my fingers digging into her warm flesh got me hard.

“Fuck,” I reached down in my sweats and readjusted my dick.

After I ate this sandwich, I might have to take a taste of that sweet cunt again.

I was just about ready to head back upstairs with my food when the bar door swung open. My first thought was that Tanner had finished his nightly rounds with the sweet butts. Instead of his smug face, I was met with a pair of ice-blue eyes.

“Hey,” I cocked a brow at my cousin. “Haven’t you gone home yet?”

There were a couple of guys hiding out here that he knew from back home in Canada, so I knew he was here, but I hadn’t seen him since that first day, hadn’t really looked for him either, though.

“I thought I’d stick around for a couple of days,” he dropped down on a stool on the other side of the bar. “Make sure you were okay.”

It still freaked me out how much the kid looked like my old man. I had to shake my head to keep from staring at him.

“I’m good.”

Keenan reached over to snatch a Cheeto off my plate and pop it in his mouth. “Did you have a good night?”

I couldn’t help but smirk at that. “You could say that.”

It didn’t take a genius to figure out what I’d been doing for the past couple of hours. Other than a pair of sweats, I didn’t have much on in the way of clothing. Then there were the claw marks down my arms and back.

“It’s about time you made up with your girl.”

“I don’t know if I’d call it making up.” Not sure if I’d ever be able to make up for all of the shit I did to her. “But it’s a start.”

Keenan nodded like he understood. I guess he could’ve. Other than my uncle's letters, I didn’t really know much about my cousin, which brought me to a question that had been picking at the back of my brain since the moment he walked into my cell.

“Why’d you do it?”

His piercing gaze rolled my way. “Do what?”

“Come all the way down here to pull my ass out of the ditch.”

He gave me a shrug. “You’re family.”

In my case, family didn’t mean much—I hadn’t been there for him. Hell, I didn’t even bother to call and check on the kid when his mother passed. Yeah, I had my own crap going on, but still, family wasn’t much good if you couldn’t count on them. Trust me—I had first-hand experience in that department.
