“I need you to come for me, Annalee. Come right NOW!”

My body obeyed his command, and for the second time tonight, I was screaming down the rafters with his name on my lips. Except this time my orgasm dragged on forever. With each movement he made, a mini aftershock exploded, until I was nothing more than limp limbs being held together by Owen’s hands.

The man himself vibrated with his own release before collapsing on top of me. I used his heavy weight as a way to ground myself.

“I don’t want to move,” he whispered in my ear.

“So then don’t.” I tried to wrap my arms around him to keep him there with me but my limbs weren’t ready to cooperate. They lay limp next to my side.

“I need to dispose of this condom. Then I can come right back.”

He pushed up with a groan and I watched his fine ass walk into the bathroom. I could barely move my head but my eyes had no problem following the hunk of a man.

“You look sexy lying there satisfied.”

“Not that I want to stroke your ego or anything, but I’ve never been this sexually satisfied before.”

Owen crawled back into bed and pulled me so that I was draped over him. “Feel free to stroke my ego anytime. There’s no such thing as too much.”

I lightly smacked his stomach. It was as much energy as I could muster.

“Relax for a bit. You’re going to need your strength for what else I have planned for the night.”

Suddenly I felt myself getting a second wind. If it meant more orgasms like that, then I would be happy to muster the energy.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Owen

A phone call in the middle of the night was never a good thing.

I worked to disentangle myself from Annalee before the ringing woke her up and whoever was on the other end of the line rang through to voicemail.

I stumbled into the hallway in just enough time to answer.

“Hello?”

“Dennis is on the move.” I heard what Nolen said but I didn’t process the words. I was still stuck in the bed that Annalee was occupying.

“Huh?”

Nolen sighed in frustration. “Annalee’s stepbrother is on the move. He booked a private jet an hour ago with a flight plan to DFW.”

“Shit, that’s only an hour away from here.” I scraped at the back of my head. “He’s coming for her.”

“I mean, he didn’t put that in the flight plan but I doubt it’s a coincidence. I’ve looked into his business dealings and he’s never had a reason to come to Texas before.”

He was definitely coming to find Annalee. “That fucking article.” Now that I was fully awake, stuff was starting to click and one of those things was that damn article that was posted in the local newspaper a few days ago.

“Annalee said Dennis would be cocky enough to search his name on the internet. Looks like she was right. It’s a good thing we set those alerts up for him and his mother.”

Those alerts were set up the moment Annalee told me about her family. Call me cynical but I liked to know where people were at any given moment. Especially when they were threatening someone I cared about.

“We have no reason to approach him,” I mused out loud. “As much as it kills me to say, we need to see what he plans to do.”

“Lex has agreed to keep tabs on him for now. Dennis won’t be able to stay in town. We don’t exactly have a hotel and there are no places to rent. I even checked the one who took down their sign before Annalee showed up just to cover our bases. The current tenant changed their mind and decided not to leave. There’s nowhere here he can hide.”

“I agree. We know from experience that the people in this town won’t let a stranger get away with sneaking in. The whole town will know within an hour if Dennis shows. And everyone knows Annalee now, they won’t let an outsider hurt her.”
