Chapter Thirteen
Sophie would never look at the pristine marble kitchen counter the same again.
She experienced a new meaning of sore by the time the sun peaked at its highest; Alec had taken her against the walls, the bathroom sink, and then the kitchen counter.
He had slipped her a pair of black lacy panties with cum still wet inside her, and a clean form-fitting dress. She soon discovered that the walk-in closet had split in half of his clothing and hers. Clothes that were way too expensive and the materials were the softest. Designer shoes and beautiful accessories that cost more than her apartment.
Her burnt down apartment.
It seemed that he was in tune with her feelings and promised to find out what happened. He had given her phone back with a kiss that had her aching for his touch again. He had an urgent matter to attend to and that he would be back soon.
An hour at the most, and that she does not have to worry because his estate was gated with the newest security, and guards outside their home. If she wanted to leave, she’d have to call him, and he’d hurry home to go with her.
Their home, it gave her butterflies.
Melinda had called with messages stacked on top of each other, all went unanswered. She was going to call her friend but was put on hold when an unknown number buzzed.
“Hello?”
There was silence on the other line, she raised an eyebrow and glanced at the screen before holding it back to her ear.
“Is anyone there?”
Dial tone rung just seconds after she spoken, bewilderment filled her mind as she looked at the screen of her phone.
Weird, she thought.
Sirens and flashes of red and blue stamped on the walls, she rushed out the room and down the flights of stair where the door burst open with uniformed men filling in the opening.
Déjà vu. Just like at the restaurant.
A man in black came to the peripheral view of her eyes as she watched more people pile in the estate.
“Miss Hayes, please return to your room.” she assumed he was one of Alec’s guards.
Another man in black talked on the phone away from her hearing range.
“This is a search warrant for the estate, its acres, and anything on the property.”
Oh goodness, it’s the man in green tie again. Does he not have any other colored ties?
Maybe it was a different shade of green, who knows.
He looked so smug, “By the time we’re done tearing apart this place, we’ll have enough to throw Lafayette in prison for the rest of his life.”
Sophie swallowed as her heart beat against her ribcage, forcing her to breath quickly. Fine little hairs raised at the back of her neck when she made eye contact with a woman.
“I’m special agent Cara Norman, Alec and I go way back.”
