“Nate!” she cried out as we both came together. It felt like my orgasm went on forever as I spilled into her. Haven collapsed against my chest, and we both dragged in breaths.
“That…was…amazing.”
I chuckled. “Yeah, it was.”
Lifting her head, her dimpled smile made my heart tumble. I loved this woman more than I could have ever imagined. “Now I’m really exhausted.”
I brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. “How about we shower, change, and watch a movie?”
“I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to keep my eyes open long enough to watch a movie.”
“Fair enough. Shower then bed?”
“That sounds like heaven.”
I stood, took her hand in mine, and led her back upstairs and to my room. After starting the shower, we stepped in, and I kissed her slowly. Haven seemed to melt into my body as the kiss deepened. She opened her eyes and laughed when her hand moved down my body.
“Ready already?”
“I have always wanted to make love in the shower.”
She bit down on her lip before saying, “Who am I to deny you that.”
Picking her up, I pushed her back against the shower wall and got lost in her once again. I would never get tired of making love to Haven Larson.
The smell of coffee, bacon, and something else caused me to open my eyes and sit up. I glanced at the clock to see it was seven a.m. I pushed the covers off me, swung my legs over the bed, and stood.
I headed to the bathroom and splashed my face with cold water to wake up. Last night, Josh and Sophia had come over, and we exchanged gifts and had dinner. I had never dreamed how wonderful my life could be until Haven had entered itcompletely. I had planned on asking her to move in permanently after the new year since her lease was up in January. She spent all of her time now at my place and had even brought over some of her supplies for her business and stored them in the garage.
After brushing my teeth and slipping on some sweats and a long-sleeve T-shirt, I made my way out to the kitchen. The sound of Nat King Cole’s Christmas album filled the space, and I couldn’t help but smile as I saw the Christmas tree lights on, as well as some of the other lights Haven and Sophia had hung up. It smelled like apple cinnamon in the house mixed with bacon. My stomach growled the closer I got to the kitchen.
I stopped and watched as Haven stood before the stove singing softly to “The Christmas Song” along with Nat. An overwhelming sense of love filled my chest. How had it only been barely a month since we had finally found ourselves as a couple?
My mind drifted to last week when I walked into the community center to see Haven crying. She had admitted to me that night thatit was because of the conversation about my family, and she had thought of her father. I had wanted to track him down and beat the shit out of him. I hated that he could still make her feel defeated and sad. I made a vow to do whatever I had to do to help her, and that included suggesting to her that we go together to a therapist. When she had broken down again, I held her until she cried herself to sleep.
The song ended, “Deck the Halls” came on, and Haven started dancing as she flipped the bacon. I pushed off the wall and made my way to her. Once I was behind her, I wrapped my arms around her waist. She stopped dancing and leaned against me.
Turning her head slightly, she looked back at me. “Good morning, and Merry Christmas Eve.”
“Merry Christmas Eve. Don’t let me stop you from singing and dancing.”
She laughed. “I’ve never been this excited for Christmas. I can’t wait to spend it with your family.”
“I can’t wait to share them with you as well.”
Turning around, she wrapped her arms around my neck. “I feel like I’m in a dream, Nate. Everything is perfect, and I’m just waiting for the rug to get pulled out from under my feet.”
I ran the back of my hand down the side of her beautiful face. “Stop worrying, Haven. For once in your life, I wish you would believe you deserve this happiness.”
She chewed nervously on her lower lip. “I’m trying, it’s just…”
Her voice trailed off, and her gaze dropped to my chest. Placing my finger on her chin, I lifted her gaze to mine.
“Our life is only just beginning, Haven. There are so many wonderful moments that we’re going to experience together. So many places I want to whisk you off to and show you.”
Her dimples appeared as she asked, “Really? Like where?”
“Anywhere you want to go.”
