“That’s not for me to discuss with anyone besides him and the authority figures here,” Dr. K says. Kai looks at her with a stern gaze.
“Is Rhea safe with him?”
They refuse to be separated, even now. It was apparently hard for them in the dorms as well. Rhea was going to lead her group out of the school because she and Rick would sneak into each other's beds at night and both knew their way around. They have an extremely unhealthy trauma bond, but Dr. K is trying to help.
“Do I typically make decisions that threaten the safety of others?” Dr. K counters with an eyebrow cocked.
Kai doesn’t look pleased, but he concedes. He’s very protective of all of the children here, but the three girls we rescued seem to be at the top of his list outside of me, Cillian, and Boris.
“Alright, we have a plan now. We need to remove his network so that we can narrow it down. Lyra and Kia went back to Ireland and will inform us if Ronan moves from his castle. Until then, we make him bleed from afar.”
Chapter 38
This bitch. This motherfecking red-headed, spiteful, little bitch.
Blood coats the floor of my office, and I know it’ll leave a stain, which only makes me all the more frustrated and murderous. Three of my men lay dead just inches away from my desk.
Nessa’s taken out all of my trafficking avenues, all of my contacts, my investors. The Prime Minister being one of the largest ones. I know it was that little shit Rhea helping her too. She always knew how to make some of the most deadly untraceable poisons.
A knock sounds at my door, and I raise my gun.
“If you shoot me, you won’t know what is happening.”
Reluctantly, I let my weapon fall to my desk as I begin to pace behind it. “I need a clean-up crew.”
“You will get one as soon as you calm down.”
I glare daggers at one of the only men who can talk to me that way. “Do not test me, Sullivan. You know the only reason you’re still alive is because of the contributions of your family.”
The dumbest, smug smile crosses his face.
“You know you love me, O’Brien. Would you like to hear the good news?”
I shoot a hole in the floor right next to his foot. He jumps, then stomps in outrage.
“Do you have any idea how hard it was to get this custom-made flooring you insisted on?” he grumbles.
“Watch your mouth and I won’t have to make your life harder.”
He crosses his arms, and that’s when I notice the package in his hand.
“What’s that?”
He fans himself with it. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
I shoot another bullet, this time into the wall behind him, knowing that this paint color was hard for him to find.
“I swear on my Louis Vuitton scarf and Armani bag, if you fire another bullet into this once pristine office that I slaved over for you, I will quit.”
He stomps his foot, and dammit, I crack a smile.
“Here,” he says, tossing me the envelope with a huff. “They adopted a kid. Her name is on his birth certificate now.”
Ripping open the letter, my heart rate speeds up as I see that Nessa is trying to create a family without me again. Her signature lies right beside Boris and Cillian’s, making a mockery of me.
“This is good news,” Sullivan says, clapping excitedly.
I crinkle the paper in my hand as I stare at him in rage. “How the feck is this good news?” I yell.
