“Fucking adorable. Isn’t she, boys?” His chuckle twists with the evil rising from his soul.

“Where’s Elsie? What did you do to her?”

“I have no fucking clue.” He shrugs. “The little bitch ran off, and this one”—he points a thumb to Kayla—“still won’t tell me shit. I’ve tried, many times. Believe me.” He walks up to Kayla and runs his disgusting hand down between her breasts. “Isn’t that right, dollface?”

She recoils, sniveling as his hand falls away.

“All this one told me is that your little friend left, leaving her here alone to suffer. What a girl, huh?”

Elsie would never leave Kayla. That makes no sense. If she ran, she would’ve taken Kayla with her. If Elsie is still out there, how come she never contacted anyone?

Enzo and his brothers looked for both girls. There was not a trace of them. Something must’ve happened to her, maybe something even worse than this. I won’t rest until I get the answers. It’s not above Agnelo to lie.

“She’s probably dead somewhere,” he adds. “Good fucking riddance. Now, I’ll watch you, your friend, and all the others caged up downstairs burn alive. I have no use for this place anymore. I’ll find another. I’ll get more people. And this time, you won’t be joining us, I’m afraid.”

“What? No! You have to let the kids go. They’re just babies! You can’t kill them!” My voice slices with a sob, imagining it’s my Robby there. “Please,” I plead as I come closer. “Just take me. Kill me. Do whatever you want. Let the others go.”

Agnelo’s men could be setting a fire downstairs already. I have to do something to save them all. I can’t let any of them die. Now, I wish I hadn’t ripped the damn wire, so Enzo could come and rescue them.

“You’re not worth all that.” Agnelo snickers. “My only regret is that Robby isn’t here too. But I’ll find him, and I’ll end him like his whore mother.”

My hand sneaks under my hoodie, my palm wrapping around the handle of the gun. “You son of a b—” I never finish the rest of that sentence. Glass shatters from around us, the windows breaking, my world erupting in gunfire as I run to hide behind a large crate.

Enzo and more of their men swoop in from outside, their weapons blazing, taking out some of the Bianchi men one by one, before they could even aim their weapon.

Dante kicks one in the face, then puts a bullet in his chest, while Dom kills one more. I look behind me, only a couple of yards away, finding Elliot shooting at a man in front, simultaneously fighting off someone else. He doesn’t notice as another comes at him quick, a pistol pointed at my brother’s back. Before I know what I’m doing, my gun is in my hand, and I pull the trigger.

Elliot’s eyes land on me as the asshole falls, and he mouthsthank youbefore he finishes him off. I have no idea where I hit him. I just hoped it was somewhere good.

My heart rams in my rib cage as though ready to split right out of me.

I actually shot someone.

Kayla. Oh my God. Where is she?

My gaze darts around the room, hoping I can find her among the chaos. At first, I don’t, but then I see her. Agnelo is dragging her away, his forearm trapping her neck as she tries to fight him off.

With my weapon steady in my grip, I ignore everyone else, muffling the rampage, my focus on my friend and the man who thinks he’s invincible. It’s time to put an end to him once and for all. He doesn’t see me coming, not at first, not until I’m close enough to kill him.

His lips jerk with a sinister promise as he lifts the hand with his weapon clutched in it. He pulls her away little by little, trying to escape. But I won’t let him. He doesn’t get to come out of this alive.

With my gaze perched to my friend, I hope like hell she understands the unspoken words filling my eyes.

With parted lips, her head nodding once, she bites his forearm and ducks down. The next thing I hear is the pop from my weapon, the bullet aimed for his forehead.

ENZO

She thought she could give herself up and I wouldn’t be there to stop it? I had the warehouse bugged. I didn’t tell her because I had a feeling she was going to pull some stupid shit like this.

She’s damn loyal and selfless. Her bravery is one of the things I love most about her, but fuck if she thinks I’d let her give herself up to that animal. If anyone is dying today, it’s me. I’d take her place without hesitation.

Something slams hard into the back of my head as I fight a motherfucker off. The sharp sting of pain only makes the anger radiate deeper. I kick a guy in front, right in the face, pivoting to find the one who hit me.

“Fight me, pussy,” he sneers, landing a punch into my jaw that I let him have with a grin that says, you just fucked with the wrong person.

“If you insist,” I mutter before—pop.
