“Good night, Brooke.” He presses another kiss to my cheek. “Sweet dreams.”
I finally find my voice. “Thank you for anincredible day.”
His eyes light with joy, and he beams down at me. “The pleasure was all mine.”
I sleepin until nine the next morning, an unusual luxury for me. Normally I’m up before the sun, drinking coffee and trying to get a head start on the day. But as I stretch out on my gigantic bed, I can’t help but feel gratitude to be right here, right now, after an incredible day yesterday.
I’mhappy.
And it’s all because of Tyler.
My heart flutters at the thought of seeing him this morning. Should I kiss him? Or just give him a hug?
I grab my phone off the nightstand and see fifteen new messages from the Sunny Girls. I guess I am on the West Coast and they’re all in different time zones, and a lot can happen in just a few hours.
And apparently, I’ve missed an obsession with what I’m doing and who I’m with.
Ava
Brooke, are you at Disneyland?
Chloe
Where are you?
Sadie
Ava told us about your love connection. What’s happening?
I’m only in town for one day with reception—we need deets!!!
I laugh out loud at their messages, and just to mess with them, send them my favorite picture of the day—me and Tylerkissing in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle. No words, just the message.
The messages start immediately—except for Sadie, who is probably back at camp and doesn’t have reception now.
Ava
Yessss get it, girl!
Meg
OMG what?!
Chloe
Sadie doesn’t have reception today, so I’ll say what she would: I REPEAT, WE NEED DEETS!!
I write back quickly.
Deets forthcoming. I need to grab some breakfast. Don’t worry, I’ll fill you all in later.
Setting down my phone, I get dressed as quickly as possible, put on a tiny bit of makeup, and curl my hair just enough so it doesn’t look like I literally rolled out of bed. This is nowhere near my usual “getting ready” routine, but it’s enough. Because I know Tyler doesn’t worry about how I look and dress. I’m pretty sure heenjoyslooking at me, but that’s not what’s important to him.
After one final check in the mirror, I grab my purse and room key and hurry down the stairs to find Tyler. I spot him pretty quickly at the front desk, talking to a male guest. But his stormy expression throws me for a loop, and I nearly stumble down the stairs.
Causing both men to look over at me.
And the guest talking to Tyler…
