“Yes. But I had to lie to my mother.”
My smile fades.
“There was no way I couldn’t involve her. I also have to lie to Chloe.”
“We can change all that,” I say without hesitation.
“How?”
“I don’t know. We can think of a solution. Unless you want to go public.”
“Do you?”
I study her face.
Her beautiful cheekbones, the hair talking around her face, throwing flames at her skin. Right now, she’s mine and only mine. Once she is my girl for everybody else, things will change. Not between us––although that is never out of the question––but outside us.
How people will regard us.
And her in particular.
We would be living on borrowed time. The pressure will be mounting. And we’d be hitting some snags as our dynamic would definitely change.
“We’ve discussed this before,” I say.
“I want to know more about you, David, before we’re making this public.”
Something seems off again.
“Besides, what fun will we have if we become…” She laughs and shrugs a shoulder. “I don’t know. A couple?” she says, humor lining her voice.
I run the edge of my teeth over my lower lip, slowly moving my eyes over her.
“And then, we’ll need to put Pam out of business,” she says, breathing a soft chuckle, amused.
“You’re such a troublemaker,” I say, and her eyes soften again as her smile fades.
“I need my big O, Mr. Moore. And no, I don’t want to go public with you. I lied to everybody about coming to New York. Well, not everybody, but you get my point. I don’t want to hurt anyone,” she says, and it strikes me how genuine she sounds.
“Okay. Open your legs,” I murmur, running my hand down my fly.
I didn’t even realize that I was hard all this time.
She does this naughty thing with her finger. She wags it at me, smiling mischievously, and then a cute message pops up on the screen, telling me my time is up.
Naughty and business oriented.
That’s my girl.
I laugh.
“You want me to tip you now?”
She nods, her hair bouncing. I find her charming.
“I’m officially in love with a webcam girl,” I say, and she doesn’t seem affected by my words, taking it as a joke.
It was supposed to be that, but now I wonder if there isn’t truth in that.
