“Mainly, you can’t keep fucking me like that. I won’t survive.”
“Dream, after everything that happened today, I would have thought you’d have figured it out by now.”
“Figured out what by now?”
“I’m the kind of man that does what I want, when I want, and how I want. I take what I want. The only rules I follow are my own, and mine say to fuck everyone else’s rules.” There was a seriousness to his tone I hadn’t heard up until then. “Now, why don’t you tell me why you were running an internet search on me.”
Shit,I thought and bit my lip.
“I thought you said you were the number one fighter in the world?”
“Oh, is that it? You were trying to find out information on me?” He raised an eyebrow. “Did you not believe me, Dream? I’m offended.”
“No, it’s not that. I’m not trying to offend you.”
“I noticed you didn’t say you trusted me.”
“Trust you? I don’t even know you yet.”
“Well, that’s odd. Are you in the habit of bringing strange men into your home that you don’t trust?”
“Look, I’m just trying to be safe.”
“Safe? Ha, that went out the door the minute you let me into your home.”
My eyes widened.
CHAPTER FOUR
“Well, what happened?”
I ran to the front of the store and grabbed Jeanette by the arm and pushed her into the backroom, shutting the door behind me.
“Oh,” she protested. “What’d you do that for? What are you doing, Dream?”
“Girl,” I began. “I don’t know what I let me talk you into.”
