“Stop embarrassing yourself, Isabella. I may have ignored your blatant flirting because of Nina. But don’t think for a second that your behavior is welcomed. It’s not. I am not interested. Consider this your first and last warning. The next time you barge into my office without my permissionoryou try flirting with me again I am going to kick you out of my team. Am I clear?”

She straightens before nodding. “Y-yes, Sir. I am sorry. This won’t happen again.” Isabella practically runs out of my office.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I hear another rumor of me making another intern cry. There’s a difference this time. She wasn’t an intern.

I needed to be harsh with her today. She was taking my silence to her flirting as a green light.

This conversation needed to happen. I set the record straight.

I spend the next few hours concentrating on work, ignoring my phone which vibrates every half an hour or so.

I know who that is. Hannah. She wants to meet. And I will fulfill her wish. But in my style.

The day flies by and finally, the moment I was waiting for is here.

Picking up the receiver of the landline, I dial Nina.

“What is it?” She replies curtly and I roll my eyes.

“Lose the attitude and then get your ass here.” I hang up.

Not even ten seconds and Nina is knocking at my door.

“Come in,” I reply and she stomps inside and plops on the chair opposite my desk.

She is one of the coolest chicks I know. Her pixie haircut looks fresh. So do the gray highlights in the short hair which is slicked back with gel.

She is into rings and chains like me. She is wearing a black shirt with dark wash trousers.

“Stop sulking, Nina.”

“You made Isabella cry. She quit because of you.” She glares at me, her dark smoky eye makeup making her look more pissed.

“She did?”

“She was on a trial period. I didn’t make her sign the paperwork because I wanted to test her first. To see if she could handle the pressure.”

“She can’t obviously.”

Nina leans forward, her left eyebrow piercing glinting. “What did you say to her?”

“Took you the entire afternoon to ask me,” I smirk when she rolls her eyes.

“RJ…”

“She was hitting on me, Nina.”

“You’re probably the first man who fires a girl because she was hitting on you.”

I cock an eyebrow. “Did I fire her?”

“Semantics.”

“She wanted to discuss something but didn’t have her working tablet in her hand. You know I don’t like people who slack off. You can find someone else to be your assistant.”

She slumps back into the chair. “Sometimes I wonder how easy my life would be if I was in Hannah’s department.”

I make a choking sound. “Ouch. My poor heart.”
