My robe is gaping and my thighs are parted and exposed because of the fall.
I begin to sit up but in a blink of an eye, Raleigh has me flat on the back and I am beneath him, his hips settling between my legs.
He plants his hands on either side of my head.
The move freezes me in place but it lasts only for a second before I am struggling to get him off me.
I need space. Because my body likes his body over mine. It likes it a lot. It is excited with all the manhandling. Does that make me sick? We were fighting for heaven’s sake and now I am turned on.
There must be something wrong with me for finding this arousing.
Raleigh’s robe has loosened, showcasing his bare chest.
The bastard has gotten even sexier after our wrestling.
I had done everything in my power to ignore how good he was looking in the white robe.
“Where were we?” Raleigh asks, his eyelids droop as he meets my gaze.
He casually grabs my flailing wrists and pulls them up and over my head.
“You tossed me onto the bed like a psycho when I was on my way out. Does that refresh your memory, asshole?” I snap, my chest rising and falling with anger.
His eyes move over my chest.
“My eyes are up here.” I remind him hoarsely. My body goes up in flames at his shameless staring.
After a beat, he finally brings his gaze up to meet mine.
“I need you to talk to me. Tell me what’s bothering you. We can’t let your mood swings ruin our plan.”
Just when the rage was crumbling down a little, he drove the knife straight to my heart.
“Is that all you care about? Our plan?” I murmur.
“Yes. No. I don’t know. You’re confusing me.” He squeezes my fingers as if he is frustrated by me. And isn’t it ironic?
“I am confusing you? You’ve been ignoring me since morning. After we…” I take a breath. “I understand you want to maintain distance after what happened. And I agree. Let’s ignore each other and interact only when necessary.”
“I wasn’t ignoring you, princess.” He presses in closer. My mind is losing the battle with my body.
His unreadable eyes are trained on mine.
“Could’ve fooled me.” I drop my eyes, breaking the eye contact.
“How can I ignore you when you’re all I fucking see?” My body stills. My eyes snap up. I clench my jaw. Is he joking?
“Shut up,” I growl in warning.
“Why can’t you listen without interrupting me, woman?”
“Because I am allergic to lies.”
“Give me a fucking chance to explain.” He scowls down at me.
“I don’t want to.”
“Suck it up. You are going to listen because I am not going to let you go unless we resolve your misunderstanding.” He leans down and rubs his nose against mine.
