The morning after the dinner with Archer, Raleigh gathered everyone in the break area and announced our engagement.
We got mixed responses.
Some looked smug as if they saw it coming. While some of them were pissed. As in Raleigh’s groupies.
Leaving Brielle and Chris, other members of my team were shellshocked. It was hard for them to process.
If my team looked shocked, Raleigh’s team looked on the verge of fainting.
The news slammed into them with full force and it showed in their expressions.
Raleigh being the strategist, managed to somehow convince everyone with his sugary words about our love. They bought it.
And as they were unaware of the merge, they didn’t raise questions when we informed them about the Maui project.
I was content and grateful when everyone showed open enthusiasm about our impromptu wedding instead of interrogating us.
But Brielle did corner me and asked if I was pregnant. Because she couldn’t understand why I was hurrying to get married so soon.
I admit I never laughed so hard in the entire year of my working in the agency.
She begrudgingly accepted my decision and said she will try befriending Raleigh. Only because she liked his idea of the fairytale wedding and he was a great boss to her girlfriend, Nina.
She is also eager to be a part of my wedding. My heart ached when she confessed that she wasn’t sure if I’ll ever invite her to my wedding in the future.
She always pictured me opting for a courthouse wedding.
Brielle only saw a version of me I chose to show her and the rest of the world.
For everyone, I am a no-nonsense woman who prioritizes her work. And has no feelings or emotions.
If only they would peek beneath the surface, they’ll know I am a completely different person on the inside.
I am the complete opposite of the girl they assume I am.
As usual, my department was buzzing with energy.
Everyone is excited about the campaign. Especially because this one is one of a kind. Everything is going to be real. The Date, The Proposal, and The Wedding.
It’s ironic that we still have to write a script and make a concept for the events.
Somewhere around the third day when I received an email from Victor’s assistant regarding our travel arrangements, reality began to set in.
Victor offered his private jet for our travel to be comfortable.
The resort is not open for guests but the staff is already appointed. And we’ll be provided with all the amenities throughout our stay.
It was truly sounding like a vacation instead of work.
Throughout the week, Archer was in a funny mood.
He was in the middle of interviewing candidates. He still didn’t appoint one. I have never seen Archer being this cranky.
I heard Brielle talk about it. It has something to do with a girl who came for the job interview.
She ended up crossing swords with Archer. She must be a fiery one because he hardly loses his cool.
Even during our dinner, he kept calm throughout the night. Although, he dropped a nuclear bomb on us at the end is a different story.
