My chin trembles, my chest hurting as I draw another breath. “That man didn’t do anything wrong, Brielle. His only fault is that he loves me more than I deserve.”

Breaking free from her grasp, I dash out of my office.

Everyone turns to me as I run across the floor.

All this time, I was adamant about making him the villain, he was sacrificing everything for me.

I am so angry. So, so angry at him. He took away my sorrows and filled my life with happiness. He gave me a second chance. Because of him, my family would get justice.

He did this all without me asking for it. It shows that he didn’t do it to gloat. Keeping all this a secret proves it. He did this because he is a nice person.

As Victor said, I should’ve talked to him. It’s better late than never. I am going to talk to him. I am going to stop him from committing this foolish mistake.

Nina stands from her cubicle chair when I enter their department.

I don’t bother looking at his team members who are gawking at me.

I stalk in the direction of his office.

Through the glass wall, I see him. Raleigh is standing at the shelf, packing his things in a cardboard box resting on the desk.

Pushing the ajar door open, I stride inside.

He turns and my feet halt when my gaze meets his.

His plain black t-shirt with his jeans is wrinkled. He looks like he hasn’t shaved in days. The bags under his eyes indicate he didn’t sleep either.

“Princess?” His voice. I missed it so much. I missed hearing him call me that.

My lips part but no sound comes out. The feeling of loneliness that was tearing me apart this past week seems to wither away as I stand across Raleigh.

Our souls are broken. And when we are together, we become whole. We complete each other.

Raleigh walks up to me. His hand comes up and swipes my tears with his fingers. “What’s wrong, Hannah?” When he cups my face, I swallow hard.

“What are you doing?” I whisper, motioning to the box with a flailing arm.

“I quit.”

I grip his t-shirt in my fists. “Why?”

“Because you deserve this job more than I do.”

I shake my head vehemently. “Stop. Just stop. I don’t. It was yours since the beginning. I barged in and took it away from you.”

His lips lift in a smile. “You are talented.”

“So are you.”

I don’t want to argue so I get straight to the point. “You tracked Baron. You helped me. How?” He opens his mouth and I jerk him to me. “Don’t you dare lie to me now, Raleigh. Tell me everything.”

“Fine. Can we sit down?”

“No, I’m good.” I am close to him. This is where I want to be. Right now. Forever.

My gaze flits to the side. We were drawing their attention. Even my team is here now.

“When we broke the news to Archer in the Korean restaurant, he asked you a question. Do you remember?”
