“I want to tell her that I love her.”
“Yeah, but I think you must wait until after the wedding. Confess your love when you both have some alone time. She might not be alone right now. And let’s not forget about the tradition. I don’t want any bad luck to touch your happiness.”
I smirk. “Aww. You are such a softie.”
She scowls. “Don’t call me that.”
I pull her in a hug. “Thank you, Summer. Thanks for being there. Thanks for kicking some sense into me. I am so lucky to have you.”
She pulls her head back, her eyes glistening. “Now who’s being a softie?”
“You. Because you are about to cry.”
She swats my chest before resting her head on it. “Our family is getting bigger.” She murmurs.
I rest my head on top of hers and smile. “We don’t know if she loves me too, Summer.”
“Oh, I know she loves you. I can see it in her eyes.”
“I hope you are right.”
“I am always right.” That makes me chuckle.
“Make me an aunt in a couple of years, you hear me?”
We both pull back then have a good laugh.
An image of Hannah being pregnant with my child flashes in my mind. I like that. I like it so much that my heart soars and dares to dream of a happy ending.
Chapter Thirty-Four
Brielle gasps. “Hannah… you look so beautiful, girl.” She covers her mouth with her hand, blinking back tears.
Mia on the other hand is outright crying. They both are dressed in pale pink off-the-shoulder bridesmaid dresses.
The makeup artists and their staff who helped me get ready are swooning over my wedding gown.
I plaster a smile on my face at their reactions.
Brielle takes my hand in hers and walks me to the floor-length mirror.
“You are the most beautiful bride I have ever seen.” She says from beside me.
When I keep my eyes down, Brielle lifts my chin and I’m forced to lock eyes with my reflection in the mirror.
The timeless tulle and satin ball gown is made for a dreamy wedding indeed.
The off the shoulders neckline bodice with short sleeves fits me perfectly. The exquisite handmade flowers and beadings on it give the dress a shimmery look. The ball gown skirt is floor-length and it rustles against the floor when I move.
Mia comes to my other side and brushes my veil back gently, my classic long drop crystal earring swaying with the movement. “You look like a princess, Hannah.” Her soft eyes meet mine in the mirror.
Brielle shakes her head. “She is looking like a queen.”
My stomach churns at the compliment. I don’t feel like one.
When my gaze slides to my reflection, only one thought echoes in my mind. A pawn dressed as a queen.
I rip my gaze away and clear my throat. “I…”can’t breathe. “I need to… Can I be alone for a minute, please?”
