She stares at it for a second before taking it.
“Summer Donovan.” She gives me a small smile. “Raleigh’s potential murderer.”
“You know her, Raleigh?” Archer asks in an icy tone.
Raleigh steps forward. “Yes. She is my best friend.”
His best friend is currently shooting daggers at him.
He gives her an apologetic look. “I am sorry I couldn’t come to receive you.”
“You forgot I was coming today, didn’t you?” She folds her arms across her chest.
He gives her a sheepish smile. “I am sorry?”
“Apology rejected.” She says calmly before lunging at him. She clutches his ear and twists it.
“Ow, Ow, Ow.”
“How can you forget?” She yells, making me wince.
Archer just watches the show with a cocked eyebrow.
“You didn’t even send someone to pick me up. I waited for you at the airport for two hours. Then spent another two in search of this stupid resort!” She lets his ear go only to slap his bicep.
“I had texted you the address!” Raleigh holds his hands up, trying to dodge her attacks.
“My phone was dead. And I couldn’t for the life of me remember the name of this place. So for two freaking hours, I was asking people to give me directions of the resort called Hysteria!”
Archer snorts. Summer’s gaze flies to him. Her jaw ticks when he inclines his head to the side and cocks an eyebrow, a condescending smirk kicking up his lips.
I gape at him. Why is he provoking her?
When Raleigh snickers, she snaps her head back at him and squints. “Don’t. Laugh. Asshole!” She punches his arm three times, enunciating each word.
“Sorry! I am sorry!” He tries to hug her but she pushes him away half-heartedly.
“You know how much I had to walk? And when I finally reached here, the front desk person told me you were out so I was waiting in the atrium. A staff member offered me a glass of water. I was so parched that I couldn’t even mutter a thank you. I was gulping down the water when he ambushed me.” She points at Archer.
Poor girl. I feel guilty. Because of us, she had to wander the streets of Maui.
I glare at Archer. Is this the way to treat a guest?
He isn’t looking at me. He is busy scowling at Summer.
I take in her trolley bag that has colorful pictures of ice-creams, milkshakes, goggles, and beach umbrellas printed over it and a bold ‘To the beach please’ written in the middle.
I push Raleigh to the side and put a hand on her shoulder. “Have you eaten yet?”
She averts her eyes and gives a small shake of her head.
“Ignore these jerks, there’s a cool open-air restaurant with waterfalls here. Let’s go grab a bite.”
Summer slowly looks at me. Her lips lift in a smile before she nods.
Looping my arm with hers, I guide her in the opposite direction of the atrium but stop.
“Get Summer’s luggage to her room, will you?” I throw the words over my shoulders at Raleigh before sauntering out of the atrium.
