“Of course. Just like you didn’t intend to share the news of your engagement, asshole!” She yells and I wince.
Thank God I am wearing AirPods. Summer can get very loud when she is angry.
There are a few articles on the internet about my engagement.
Some of them even featured pictures of me and Hannah. None of them were recent. Those pictures were from the events we attended in the past as KIM Advertising employees.
Nevertheless, the news was out in the world.
Our engagement garnered more attention because Victor’s name is linked with us.
We were set to release the news of our collaboration with him after the ad campaign was complete, but the articles have covered that too.
Now everyone in the world knows I am going to get married on a resort and use it to promote the resort.
Well, they say any publicity is good publicity so I don’t have to worry about how people would view this.
But Summer was pissed. I had predicted that. I didn’t tell her anything about my plans for the week. I was kind of ignoring her.
I had to return her call when I read her texts full of threats. That’s right. My best friend sent a descriptive text about how she would kill me and get rid of my body by cutting it into small pieces and dropping them in different locations.
That girl needs to stop watching crime documentaries.
“I was going to tell you in person—”
She cuts me off. “You meanafteryour wedding? I’m not blind! I can see the happening place you’re lounging in. That means those articles weren’t lying, were they? You’re in Hawaii to get married!” She screams and gets to her feet. I grimace.
If she keeps bellowing like that, I might get deaf by the end of this call.
She marches to the bed which is visible in the background, grabs a pillow, and throws it at the phone.
It falls off the dresser and the screen is now facing the ceiling.
“Shit.” Summer curses loudly.
I hear her footsteps then a second later her face comes into view. She is hovering over her phone.
“You are an asshole!” I shake my head.
She blames me for a good minute because her phone ended up on the floor.
I let her rant and remain silent. I wait for her to plant the phone back on the dresser.
She resumes her seat on the chair. Her long hair is a mess now.
“I am sorry.” I try to appear remorseful.
She tilts her head and narrows her eyes. “Damn, you suck at acting. How the fuck are they buying your sham of an engagement?”
I sit straighter. I go to speak.
She holds her palm up. “Don’t bother trying to convince me, Raleigh. You can fool everyone. But not me. I would’ve bought this if it were any other girl, but it’s Hannah Cooper. Your number one enemy. So don’t waste the time bullshitting me and tell me the truth.”
Hannah Cooper. Yes, she is my number one enemy whom I can’t stop thinking about.
She is the most aggravating woman I ever came across. She is the most difficult woman to please and yet, her stuck-up and icy attitude makes me want her more.
I kissed her. Our first real kiss. It happened because I lost control during my photoshoot.
