I don’t know what you’re talking about

I couldn't help but grin at the prospect of watching a West End show tonight. After Victor had kindly agreed to email the tickets to me, all I had to do was break the news to Cedric. Something told me he wouldn’t mind cutting our walk short.

“Who’s got you smiling like that? Your other boyfriend?” Cedric asked teasingly when he noted the excited grin on my face.

“Not this time,” I grinned cheekily. “It’s my friend, Victor. He and his boyfriend can't make it to the West End tonight, so he's asked if I want their tickets." Well, technically, he asked if my secret boyfriend and I wanted to take the tickets, but I decided to leave that part out. How did Victor even know about that? An educated guess, or was he just pulling my leg?

“What did you say?”

“Of course, I said yes! I hope you don’t mind cutting our walk through the park a little short.”

"In exchange for watching a show tonight at the West End? No chance." Cedric took my hand and began leading me back the way we came. "What are we watching?"

“I didn’t ask. I was too excited about the tickets,” I laughed, reaching for my phone. Victor had already emailed me, and my eyes quickly danced across the screen. “The Lion King,” I said. “The show is at seven, but they request everyone to arrive by six-thirty."

“It’s half four right now.” Cedric peered over my shoulder to stare at my phone. “We’re going to have to hurry if we want to make it in time.”

Cedric and I parted ways to head back to our separate apartments and get dressed for the magical evening ahead, agreeing to meet at Charring Cross in an hour and a half. From there, it would be a short walk to the West End.

By the time I arrived, it was six-twenty which made me twenty minutes later than we agreed to meet up.

I spied Cedric standing outside the station. With his back turned to me and his earbuds in, he neither saw nor heard me coming.

My perfectly painted peachy lips stretched into an excited grin as I approached him. I wasted no time wrapping my arms around his waist, hugging him from behind.

"If I didn't recognise these nails," Cedric chuckled and tapped my chipped black nail polish that didn't compliment the emerald green halter neck dress that I was wearing in the slightest. “I would think that I’m about to get assaulted.”

“No assault. Just me,” I grinned, moving to stand in front of him, my hands not leaving his body once.

Dressed in a dark grey suit and emerald green tie, just as I had requested him to, I couldn't help but think how did I get so lucky? His brown hair looked almost black in the darkness of the night, and the way he had slicked it back away from his face gave him a classic sort of look.

As if he wasn’t handsome enough already.

“You look radiant, darling,” Cedric exhaled, his eyes unwavering as he looked me up and down, taking his sweet time. “In the darkness, you’re akin to a star which outshines all the others, Saffron. I can’t believe I get to call you mine.”

“How long have you been thinking of that one?” I joked and cleared my throat, an evident ruse to cover up just how moved I was by his beautiful words.

“I can’t remember.” He shrugged and looped his arms around my waist, reeling me in. Not that I had any complaints. “I seemed to have lost all my words the moment I set my eyes on you.”

"You can be really cheesy sometimes,” I whispered, leaning in to press my hands to his chest, slowly crawling them up to loop them around his neck. My fingers played with the soft wisps of hair, curling my finger around them.

“Don’t act like you don’t enjoy it,” he chuckled and bowed his head to kiss my lips softly.

"Well, thank you," I smiled against his mouth. "You look pretty handsome yourself."

Cedric translated his thanks by slipping his tongue into my mouth and curling it around mine. The action was both sweet and erotic at the same time, spreading tingles all over my body.

"I'm sorry I'm late," I whispered, peppering kisses against the corners of his mouth. When he grinned and held me tighter, it only encouraged me to do it more. "I didn't mean to make you wait, but it took me a while to find this dress, and then I needed to steam it.”

“Don’t worry about it, darling,” he groaned lowly and sucked my bottom lip into his mouth, gently raking his teeth over it. “With you looking as beautiful as you do right now, I’d be willing to wait my entire life for you. And then some.”

"Did I tell you just how cheesy you can be sometimes?" I chuckled and pressed one last kiss to his lips before pulling away.

“I hope I’m not disrupting the moment, but I have to say, the two of you look so beautiful together. The epitome of a match made in heaven.”

Cedric and I shared a knowing look before glancing at the elderly woman who beamed at the two of us. We thanked her and laughed as she continued gushing at what a beautiful couple we made all the way to the tube station.

“She’s right, you know?” He murmured, pressing a quick kiss to my mouth. “We do make a beautiful couple.”
