“I need a fucking drink,” Cain announced and walked past us and down the stairs. Piper rummaged through the bags he’d brought in, tossing Wyatt a case of beer and grabbing a bottle ofrum. The rest of the groceries lay forgotten on the kitchen floor. I followed after Piper, feeling a little numb, and I heard Wyatt and Austin right behind me.

Cain was already chugging a beer when I got downstairs, and I sat across from him on the couch. Piper opted for the chair closest to me, leaning back and taking a long swig out of the bottle of rum. I guess these guys didn’t believe in cups. Wyatt sat Austin down on the opposite side of the couch, sitting beside him like a babysitter, cracking a beer to hand to him. Piper offered me the bottle, and I took it gratefully, sipping the brown liquor and focusing on the burn as it slid down my throat.

“You should’ve never come back here,” Cain muttered, and I bristled, shooting him a glare.

“She had to come back,” Piper said, before I could say something nasty back at him. “She felt the tug.” He poked his chest as if that somehow proved it.

“Technically, it was a snake,” I corrected him, taking another drink before I handed the bottle back. I felt the couch dip and noticed that Austin had shifted closer, still drinking his beer.

“Cain, come on. You can’t deny that this is... not an accident,” Wyatt sighed. “What did you say it was?” He looked at Piper. “Like calls to like or some shit like that.” He threw up his hands.

“I didn’t mean to cause any trouble,” I told Cain sharply. “Not only did I not ask to get thrown down the stairs, I also warned you all not to touch me. I never wanted to hurt anyone.” I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, frustrated in several ways now. Somehow I’d ended up responsible for the lives of four different people, and it was a lot of fucking pressure. Something brushed my arm, and I opened my eyes to find Austin right next to me. I touched his hand gently, and he seemed to instantly relax on the couch. I held his hand so at least one person here could chill the fuck out.

Cain grimaced, but apparently, he didn’t have a good retort, so he just crushed his empty beer can and tossed it aside.

“So listen, the reality of things is that I’ll need to leave at some point,” I told them, and felt Austin tense beside me. “I can come back though,” I finished quickly. “But I have work. And my own apartment...” Fuck, my list was actually painfully short.

“You could bring your things here,” Austin piped up, playing with a strand of my hair. “You could have this room!” He said it so matter-of-fact I almost laughed.

“I can’t move in here. I only just met you,” I smiled, and his face dropped.

“All in good time,” Piper mused, and I narrowed my eyes at him.

“No more of that shit now,” I told him sharply. I don’t think I could handle any more of his twists of fate this week. He just shot me another coy smile, his eyes flashing with a hunger that made me shiver. He handed me the bottle of rum, and I took a sip to cover my reaction before passing it back. Austin’s hand had drifted to the back of my neck, tickling his fingers lightly along my hairline. His touch was not helping me think clearly at all.

“I need to think,” Cain announced, slapping his hands on his thighs and pushing himself to his feet. He jerked his head at Wyatt as he walked past, and Wyatt gave me a quick nod before disappearing after him. Piper just chuckled and took another swig of rum, closing his eyes as he tipped his head back to rest against the chair.

Well, alright then, I think I was slowly starting to understand the bizarre dynamic of this group. I shivered as Austin started to nuzzle against my neck like he had earlier, the cool metal of his lip rings tickling behind my ear. I felt his breath against my skin, and my breath caught in my throat when his tongue darted out to trace a line up under my jaw.

“You taste so good,” he murmured into my ear, and his hand tangled in my hair, pulling my head back gently and exposing my neck. A small moan escaped my lips as he began trailing kisses across my throat, his tongue lapping against my skin. This was a bad idea, I knew that, but it felt so good. Austin put his hand on my leg and I shifted myself up and over to straddle his lap. He buried both his hands in my hair and pulled my face down to meet his, groaning as I grazed my tongue across his lips and deepened the kiss. I rocked in his lap, my thighs clenching around him.

“Ahem...” I froze, realizing that Piper was still in the room. Austin didn’t seem to care. His fingers slipping under my shirt.

I looked over my shoulder at him, raising an eyebrow. “Don’t stop on my account.” he smiled. “You really do change something in the air just by being close. When you’re excited, it’s almost as intoxicating as touching you.”

I opened my mouth to shoot back a retort, but Austin had managed to slip his hand under my bra and ran his thumb over my nipple, causing me to gasp instead. He did it a second time, sending a jolt of pleasure straight to my core. I whimpered, feeling my panties begin to soak. Austin captured my mouth with his, his tongue exploring me while his hand did the same, kneading my breast and teasing my nipple until it was a hard point.

“They’re coming back soon,” Piper murmured, his voice sounding husky. He was right, we couldn’t just go full carnal on the communal couch. I ran my hand through Austin’s hair, gently pulling back from his lips. His hands reluctantly slid from my breasts back down to my waist, and I swear he was pouting.

“Next time.” I smiled at him, and he grinned back, his pupils large and dilated. I shifted off of his lap to sit back on the couch, adjusting my bra. Austin didn’t seem to like the sudden distance, and he pulled me back over so I was sitting on his lap instead, his arms wrapping around my waist again.

“I’ll be good.” he whispered in my ear, and I didn’t believe him for a second, but I didn’t think he was about to let me go either, so I just relaxed into his arms. Piper had been spot on, and not even a minute later, Cain stalked back into the room with Wyatt in tow. They both stilled as they got close, and I saw Cain’s eyes flash with red like a spark of flame in the ashes. Cain looked at me, taking in my slightly rumpled appearance, and Austin, whose face was buried in my hair, and grimaced.

“This is what I mean. It’s already getting out of hand.” he snapped at Wyatt, sitting down in front of us. Wyatt sat down beside Austin and gently tried to untangle his arms from around my waist.

“Austin, Addy has to go home at some point. And you have work, remember?” he told him gently. Austin’s arms loosened, and I slipped off his lap carefully, moving to stand by Piper, just out of his reach.

“She can go, but she’ll come back, right?” Austin whispered, eyes imploring. Wyatt eyed him wearily, but he behaved and didn’t leap off the couch at me or anything.

“I...” I shot a look at Cain, who was glowering at everyone in the room. “I will come back, of course. At least until I can figure out how to make this -“ I held up my hands, “Calm down. I don’t want any of you going crazy.” I told him.

I yelped when Piper suddenly snaked his hand around my wrist and pulled me down into his lap. “Oh, I believe that ship has sailed, love,” he laughed, hands slipping under my shirt to tickle my stomach. I blushed furiously as fresh desire ached between my legs and Wyatt shot up, pulling me out of Piper’s lap and moving me safely out of reach. I noticed his hand stayed on my wrist, so maybe his motives weren’t entirely pure either.

“Jesus Christ, Piper, we don’t just grab women and fondle them!” Cain barked out. Piper held up his hands in surrender.

“Addy said it was fine, or wait, when do you say that?” he mused, eyes unfocused. “Sorry, maybe you haven’t said it yet,” Cain groaned, rubbing his hand over his face.

“I’ll take you home,” Wyatt announced. “Cain can watch these two and make sure they don’t jump off the roof or anything stupid.” I winced, wishing that wasn’t such a genuine concern.
