Prologue

Ghost

There’s a war brewingin Sterling City, a storm that’s been building for far too long. The Hounds have crossed a line this time, a line that should’ve never been crossed. And the Steel Serpent MC couldn’t let it go unchecked, not when the stakes were this high.

Abducting omegas, bringing Heat into our city—it was despicable, even for a stray. Titus’s hunger for power had led him to align with Michelle Sterling’s twisted vision, using a heat stimulant to control and conquer every unmated omega. It had to be stopped, by any means necessary.

The casualties our city has suffered over the last six months alone are unforgivable. The memory of those lives lost twisted my stomach with a seething rage that I could barely contain. The air was thick with anticipation, gnawing at the edges of my nerves and refusing to let go. But tonight, we would ignite the first flame. Tonight, we would make our move.

Enough was enough.

The Steel Serpent MC is determined to rid our city of its poisons. We’ve planned this mission for months, laid the groundwork, and now we’re ready. We know the Hounds will retaliate once we make our move, but our brotherhood stands for something more than just power.

We stand for honor. We’re alphas determined to serve and protect. It’s our way, our code. Omegas deserve the freedom to choose their packs, not be forced into a breeder facility where every aspect of their lives is dictated by others. We might not stop the sanctuary from opening, but we can cut the Hounds’ power at its source.

How?

By destroying their shipment.

I could feel Chaos’s presence beside me, a constant, reassuring weight in the darkness. Me and my brother never went on a run without each other. His engine idled low and menacing, a rumble that matched the storm brewing inside of us. Our bikes’ headlights were cut off, ensuring we remained hidden in the shadows, as the vermin of our city swarmed the darkened docks below.

"I can't wait to see these fuckers go up in flames," Chaos hissed, his voice laced with venom. He stared down at the docks, his hands gripping the handlebars so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His eyes, usually so full of mischief and laughter, were now hardened by tonight's impending run.

I nodded, my anger simmering just beneath the surface. "I know, brother. We’ll burn every last vial," I said, my fists clenching as I envisioned the destruction to come.

My comms buzzed with static. I lifted the radio between us, our tech guy’s anxious voice cutting through the interference.

"Prez, we’ve got a situation."

Chaos’s expression hardened further as he dismounted his bike, his arms folding across his chest.

"What is it? Is it the product?"Viper demanded.

The radio crackled, and Pixie’s voice was barely audible."The crates… they’re not Heat."

I bit the inside of my cheek, frustration mounting as I waited for more details. If it wasn't the stimulant in the crates, then what was it.

Gears’s voice came through, sharp and urgent."Omegas. At least two dozen."

Chaos’s face twisted in anger and disbelief. "FUCK! We have to stop the explosives."

I nodded, my heart pounding. Just then, Viper’s voice cut in, strained but determined.

"Ghost, Chaos, you’re the closest. Think you can get there quick enough?"

I glanced at Chaos, who was already sprinting toward the launch site, his helmet falling from his grasp.

"What’s the status?"I asked.

Static filled the silence before Viper’s voice came back, clipped and tense."Three minutes."

My heart sank. "FUCK. FUCK. FUCK!" I screamed, frustration and fear colliding in a desperate cry.

"No,"Gears’s voice came through, firm and resolute. "Neither of my sons will risk their lives for this. We go through with the plan. Or Viper, you stop this yourself. You're our Prez. It’s your duty."

My hands trembled as I hit the speak button, my voice barely more than a whisper."Chaos already went in."

As the words left my lips, the building erupted in a massive explosion. Glass and debris rained down like confetti, the shockwave hitting me with a force that nearly knocked me off of my bike. The fireball illuminated the night sky, casting an orange glow over everything.
