“I can vouch. She does give the best kisses,” I teased. I didn’t want her feeling awkward and if she wanted to kiss someone else.
Who was I to stop her?
Katrina beckoned Snake over with a hook over her fingers. Grabbing him by the collar, she pulled him to her level. Steele and I waited on bated breath when she turned his face and kissed his cheek.
“That’s all I get?”
“Oh, stop it, you big baby.”
Katrina’s smile took over her entire face. She truly was beautiful when she smiled. Her entire face lit up.
“Hey Kat,” Diamond said, coming over to join the party. Apparently, I couldn’t have Katrina for myself. Not that I really minded. There would be time for that later.
“Hey. Thanks for the clothes.”
“Yeah, no problem. I kind of have a shopping addiction and I wasn’t using any of it anyway.” Diamond chuckled. “And I’m glad someone can put my addiction to good use.”
Katrina laughed. “I appreciate it. These shorts are so comfy.”
“And they look great on you, too,” I chimed in.
Diamond smirked. “Easy there, don’t get too flirty with my girl.”
Katrina rolled her eyes. “Your girl? I think you’re overstepping there, Diamond.”
Diamond raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? You know you love me.”
Katrina playfully shoved her.
I grinned, enjoying the banter between them. It was clear they had a close friendship, and I was happy for them. Even though there was a history between Diamond and the crew, I was glad she was finding her place and befriending Katrina.
“Listen up everyone!” Scar called out. “Food is ready and will be serve yourself. Grab a plate, there is plenty for everyone. Then take a seat at the table.”
I filled my plate with delicious barbecue, feeling content as I took a seat at the table. Snake sat on Katrina’s left, and I took the spot on her right. The warm sun beat down on us.
“Mama! Can I sit with Diamond and grams, please?” Leona said, rushing over to us.
“Yeah, that’s fine, baby.”
“Yay!”
She turned to take off, but Katrina yelled out, “Leona!”
She turned at the sound of her name and rushed back to give her mom a hug before darting off in the direction she came from.
Katrina watched her for a moment, her face softening. “She really is happy here.”
I hummed my agreement.
Scar stood up, holding up his beer to get everyone’s attention. “Alright everyone, before we eat, I just wanted to take a moment to say something.”
The chatter died down as everyone turned their attention to Scar. He took a deep breath.
“You know, when Reaper, Tank, and I started this club, we just wanted to ride together after we lost Rose.” The club went silent as everyone took a drink in her memory. Scar cleared his throat. “But over the years, the club has become so much more than that.”
He looked around at the faces of his family, his brothers and sisters. “We’ve created something special here. A place where we can come together as a community, where we can raise our kids and know they’ll be safe, where we can take care of each other no matter what.”
Scar’s eyes fell on me, and he gave me a proud smile. “And I couldn’t have done it without Tank’s help. He’s been there from the beginning, helping me build this brotherhood from the ground up. So cheers to you, brother.”
