“Everything okay?” she asked.
Glancing down into her crystal blue eyes, I tried to force a smile, but I must have missed the mark. A frown tugged at her lips as she studied me.
Feeling the need to reassure her, I said, “It’s a club business. I’ll be leaving tonight, and hopefully I’ll be back by morning.”
I couldn’t share any club business outside the immediate circle. Especially since there was a mole in the mix. We couldn’t have this information leaking outside the club.
“You’re leaving?” Her voice was small and vulnerable and I didn’t like being the reason she would worry.
“Don’t worry, pretty girl. I’ll still be back to do your training session in the morning.” I said, kissing her on the forehead.
The gym was bustling with people, and Katrina’s back stiffened. Her scent told me how uncomfortable she felt around the large group.
Leaning into her ear, I murmured, “Want me to kick everybody out? I totally can, you know.”
Katrina gasped, her eyes widening in horror.
“Because of me? No, no, please don’t do that.” She shook her head fiercely.
“Okay, okay,” I said, miming zipping my lips shut and throwing away the key.
Katrina smiled in amusement, bumping me with her shoulder as we continued our trek over to the sparring mat.
I wouldn’t really have kicked everyone out. But it did work to get Katrina out of her head. Already her shoulder was back and head held high as she marched over to the mat with determination in her strides. I chuckled. I loved seeing her slowly come out of her shell.
“Tank.”
My back stiffened. I watched Diamond jog over, a bright smile on her face. My eyes narrowed with suspicion.
“What do you want?” I grumbled.
“Oh, um, I just wanted to apologize to Katrina.” Her gaze shifted between us. “I’m really sorry for how rude I was to you a couple of days ago. But I talked with Scar and I swear, I’m completely over the whole thing.”
I rolled my eyes. All she had ever cared about was ifshewas over it or not.
“It’s okay,” Katrina said, giving her a kind smile. She really was too nice.
“So, are you here to spar?” Diamond asked. “I could totally use a partner.”
Katrina’s eyebrows shot to her hairline in surprise, and a blush slowly spread across her cheeks. She looked totally beautiful when flustered, and my cock jumped as an image of her flushed for an entirely different reason flashed through my head.
“What do you say, Tank?” Katrina asked me. I wasn’t listening to either of them, so I had no idea what she was asking me.
“Yeah, sure. Whatever you want, pretty girl,” I agreed easily.
Diamond squealed in excitement. “Oh, this is just perfect!” she said. “I never get to spar with someone who isn’t one of the guys.”
Katrina grinned at that, and my brows furrowed in confusion.
She wanted to spar with her? This wouldn’t go well.
Chapter Twelve
Katrina
Diamond seemed nice enough, and to be honest, I was excited to have a girlfriend. I’d never really had time for one growing up. At 35, that was kind of sad, but better late than never, right?
“Come on,” Diamond said in excitement, grabbing my hand and pulling me onto the mat. It was a lot bouncier than I thought it would be. Which was good, because knowing me, I’d probably end up on the ground more times than I’d like.
