“Trust me, I’ll drive slow,” Tank said.
What if we fell? Tank would be fine, but me? I wasn’t so sure.
“I have a helmet for you too, pretty girl.”
He patiently waited for me to agree, and I wanted more than anything to let go of my worries. Be spontaneous for once. I nodded yes before I changed my mind. Tank’s eyes lit up with excitement as he placed a helmet on my head, his fingers brushing my chin as he buckled it. The small touch amplified my already racing heart.
Climbing on, he pulled on a set of leather gloves, and the engine roared to life. He turned back to me and patted the seat behind him with an eyebrow raised, asking a silent question. With a deep breath, I climbed on behind him, wrapping my arms around his waist.
Tank reached a hand around my back, pulling me closer. I squeaked in surprise, glad he couldn’t hear it over the rev of the engine. My chest collided with his back and his smoky scent invaded my nose.
He revved the engine before pulling out of the parking lot. The wind whipped through my hair as we sped down the road, leaving the clubhouse far behind.
We pulled up in front of a run-down building and the sign up readLegacy. The parking lot was basically empty this early in the day. Cutting the engine, Tank tapped my thigh, signaling me to get off. My legs felt like jello from the vibrations of the bike as I stood waiting for Tank, who watched my every move as he leaned on the handlebars. I raised an eyebrow at him, but Tank just chuckled.
“You brought me to another bar?” I asked.
What was wrong with the Dark Legion’s bar?
“Yeah, I thought you could use a day away from the club. Wanna have some fun? Ever played pool?”
My eyes darted to the neon sign and back to him in disbelief.
“No,” I admitted. I never got to do anything like this.
“Don’t worry, I’ll teach you,” he promised, giving me a wink.
When we entered the run down bar, an older man greeted us. “Afternoon, Tank,” he said, while polishing a set of glasses from behind the bar.
“Hey, Sampson, just bringing my girl in for some pool.”
My girl?What about Diamond?
My cheeks were on fire as I gave Sampson a weak smile. I really liked the thought of being his girl.
“Let me know if y’all need anything,” Sampson said, before heading into the back with a tray full of clean glasses.
“Come on, pretty girl.”
Tank passed me a cue and set up the game before turning his attention back on me.
“Do you want to break?” he asked.
I bit my lip nervously, shaking my head. I definitely wasn’t ready to take a shot yet.
He rubbed some chalk on the tip of his cue before leaning over the table to line up his shot. His back muscles coiled as he struck the white ball. It sailed down the middle lightning fast. As the balls collided, I flinched. I wasn’t expecting it to be so loud. Tank sank two on the first strike.
“Impressive,” I murmured.
“Thanks. Now normally I would go again because I sank two. But this round will just be for practice.” Tank came up behind me, reaching over me to adjust my hand placement on the cue. “Now, let’s try an easy shot. Try hitting the seven in the corner pocket,” Tank said and pointed.
“Easy shot?” I scoffed. There was no such thing as an easy shot for me.
“Don’t worry, I’ll show you,” he chuckled, his breath tickling my neck.
I swallowed roughly at his nearness, trying to concentrate on what he was showing me. Tank gently guided my fingers until I lined up the shot.
“Okay, now take the shot,” he whispered, stepping back to give me space.
