“Wow, that’s incredible, Nate! What else can you do?” Now I was curious, on the edge of my seat.
“Well, you said Tank pissed you off, right?”
“Yeah, I met Diamond.” I grimaced.
Nate wrinkled his nose at the reminder. It brought my attention to the splash of freckles on the bridge of his nose and cheeks.
“Want to see me beat the shit out of him?” he asked with a mischievous grin. “Might make you feel better?”
I eyed him skeptically.
I tried to envision quiet Nate beating someone like Tank. I snorted at the idea.
“You laugh, but you haven’t seen me in action.” He imitated a karate chop like a goofball. I giggled at his antics. “You have no idea what I am capable of.”
“Neither do you,” I teased.
Nate’s eyes widened. “You wound me!” He gripped his chest dramatically.
“Nate, I was teasing. I’m so sorry.” I covered my mouth to hide my shock.
Nate threw his head back and barked out a laugh. “You’re probably right about that… But won’t it be fun to find out?” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully. “I could be a total badass.”
I slapped his shoulder in relief that he wasn’t mad and laughed along with him.
“Now I’m definitely curious.”
Sitting on a set of bleachers, my leg bounced nervously. I had no idea what to expect from a fight between Tank and Nate. But I was definitely excited. Thank god, Molly was watching Leona. I didn’t want her here. Plus, it’s nice to trust someone with her and get some alone time. Ever since I became a mom, a mom was all I was.
Maybe being here at the Dark Legion clubhouse, I’ll get to discover myself, kind of like Nate was.
My eyes darted over to him in the ring, bouncing back on forth on the balls of his feet while Scar murmured in his ear.
My eyes scanned the bleacher opposite of me. They were full of other members of the club. Diamond leaned against the ropes, staring up at Scar adoringly. I clenched my teeth, feeling jealous.
Is she with him, too? I heard Tank say something about Snake and Steele.
I’d never been with anyone, but my husband, and the thought of being with anyone else made my stomach turn. My thoughts turned dark as I thought of John. He was probably out there looking for us right now. I took deep, calming breaths and wiped my sweaty hands along my jeans.
I can’t let him get to me. Not anymore.
“Hey, kitty Kat. Whatcha doing here, all by yourself?”
Snake leaned on the railing before me, his intricate scale tattoo on full display. Shirtless, in nothing but a pair of low-slow gym shorts. “My eyes are up here,” he said darkly.
“Stop that,” I snapped.
I didn’t know what came over me, but I needed all the sexual tension to stop. It was so damn confusing. Steele and Snake and their sexual jokes. Nate and his easy-going demeanor. Then Scar and his confidence. Tank and his connection with Leona, plus how overprotective he was. Not to mention how addicted I was to his scent. Every one of these bikers affected me in some way.
Snake cackled at my outburst. “Hmm, so she does have some fire?”
“I’m already dealing with so much, Snake. Please, leave me alone,” I said, my shoulders sagging.
The playful smile disappeared, and in its place, a sad puppy dog look that immediately made me feel guilty. He might constantly tease me, but he didn't deserve me snapping at him.
“Yeah, sure, Katrina.” He jogged off toward the roped-off ring.
Fuck. Why did I have to be so mean?
