Haydn:I can seriously picture your impish smile right now. And tomorrow, I get to see it in person.

One Year later:

Haydn:WAKE UP!

Bennett:Dude.

Jules:It’s four in the morning.

Haydn:And it’s MOVING day!

Jules:Is he like this when he’s out interviewing people?

Bennett:Insufferably perky?

Jules:At unholy hours of the morning.

Bennett:You used to hate mornings, Haydn. Remember that?

Jules:Ah, the good ol’ days.

Rosie:You guys are jealous. Haydn’s happy and moving to Nashville to be near his girlfriend, while you two are losers.

Haydn:Ahem … one small correction. Fiancée. Not girlfriend.

Rosie:She hasn’t said yes yet.

Bennett:She will.

Jules:I’m surprised SHE hasn’t proposed yet. It’s been a year, Haydn.

Haydn:Since we MET. We wanted to take things slow.

Bennett:I think it’s nice that you two didn’t rush things. You both had stuff to work through.

Rosie:Blah, blah, blah. When you guys added me to your text chat, I thought it was going to be juicy. But all you do is complain about each other and talk about your feelings.

Jules:Alright. I’m awake. Even though I don’t need to be because I’m flying to Nashville from Seattle and not ALASKA.

Jules:But I’m feeling really connected to my inner self today. My irritated inner self.

Bennett:I feel that you’re feeling that, Jules. And I’m feeling all the rest of the feels.

Haydn:Let’s analyze all those feels, guys. Let it out.

Rosie:URG! I’m texting Lia.

Rosie:Aurelia Halifax is going to be my sister-in-law. Eep!

Chapter 28

HaydnhaddroppedBennettand Rosie off at the hotel, and Jules was arriving in a few hours, but Haydn couldn’t wait one more moment to see Lia.

He’d texted her to say he was in town, and she’d sent him the address to her recording studio.

He liked the rental truck he drove to get to her. Maybe he’d get one just like it. He’d sold most of his belongings when he’d decided to move to Nashville, and he had been living with Bennett for the last three weeks.

He’d finished his book, and it was heading to print soon. He was already working with his agent on another book idea, and he’d agreed to write a regular feature forNature Adventure Magazine. They’d agreed to let him have his home base in Nashville, especially since he would be traveling the world as a photographer for them.
