My grandfather said, “I’d heard you were all your mother in there, but that was very much the Tony I knew.” Ted snarked, “I’ve got his DNA too. He is my dad after all.” My grandfather laughed, “I like you, Ted.” Ted scoffed, “As if I give a shit.”
My grandfather laughed again, “I think you were wrong not to send him out into the field, Heath. He’s got that it factor.” Matt growled. Heath said, “Don’t tell me about MY people old man. I’m not wrong about Ted.” Ted said, “He’s not wrong about me. It doesn’t mean I couldn’t shoot your self-entitled ass.”
Heath warned, “Ted.” Ted bit his lip, “Fine, but I could shoot him.” I grabbed his hand, “Of course you could.” Ted smiled at me. Tate flashed into the other group, “Don’t talk to MY leader that way. You don’t know shit about us, you pathetic excuse of a man!” You tell them!
Ted added, “I’m a lover not a fighter. You just happened to prick a vein. Lexi is my girl.” My grandfather said, “Someone care to explain how Noah isn’t her string? We were told he was, but she’s adamant that’s not true.”
Chase’s growl shook the trees. He roared, “SHE’S MINE!” Jordan commented, “So her neck told us before she woke up and said Noah was never her string.” Chase growled again. Cameron and Matt rushed forward. Did I have to save their lives right now? Why was I a good person? Haley was right, being nice sucked.
I whispered, “Chase, I need you.” He was in front of me in seconds. I lifted my hand to his face, “It’s you, just you. We are forever, you promised me.” Chase grabbed me and pulled me back into his arms. He kissed my forehead. “Forever.”
My grandfather cleared his throat. I glared at him, “I’m saving your life here. The least you do is give us a goddamn minute.” Chase cupped my cheek, “You need to go get checked out. Please Sweetheart, let my dad take you to the pack doctor.”
Ted assured him, “She’s fine. Well, I take that back. She will be fine in an hour. I’ve been timing it. Haley wanted to put in a failsafe in. I should’ve let her, but I told her no. Or I’d have her come heal you now, Lex.”
Chase ordered, “Dad, get them out of here.” Frank hesitated. I told them, “Kincade can take us home. You need your dad right now. I need you both here for Heath because I can’t be.” I whispered, “Don’t let them hurt him physically or mentally. Please. Punching them in the face isn’t off the table, just not James. He’s as innocent as we were.” Chase nodded, “Of course. I’ll have his back. Frank added, “I will as well.” I smiled at them both.
Kincade reached out for me, but I put my hand out. I ordered, “Set me down, Chase.” I held onto Ted, and Kincade took my other side. We somehow managed to get out of there. Kincade got me into the car. Ted gave me a blanket and I shoved it off. I said, “I’m a thousand degrees.”
Kincade laughed and turned on the air conditioning. Ted bundled up in the blanket. When we got back to the pack house, Ted helped me out of the car. Kincade said, “We should go see the pack doctor.” I disagreed, “No, someone carry me to Chase’s room. My toothbrush is there and I need it; badly.”
I heard Reagan say, “You heard her. She is your Luna, and her word is law.” I said, “Bless you, Reagan.” Ted ran me up the stairs. I groaned, “Why Ted?” Ted winced, “Habit. Sorry.” Sally flashed into the room with Reagan behind her.
Sally helped me to the bathroom where I brushed my teeth. I admitted, “I need to shower.” Sally said, “I’ve seen you naked before and I’m not going anywhere just in case you need me.” I nodded and chucked my clothes off. I told her, “You might as well burn those.”
I felt a lot better after my shower. I grabbed a t-shirt of Chase’s off the floor. Everything else looked too hot. Nadine was sitting by the bed with toast and Gatorade. I nibbled on the toast. It was heavenly, and I quickly devoured it. Then I sipped the Gatorade slowly.
The doctor I’d seen at the hospital came into the room. I huffed, “I distinctly recall saying I didn’t want to see you.” The doctor laughed, “Alpha’s orders.” He listened to my heart, made me take deep breaths. He took my blood pressure and frowned.
He announced, “Your blood pressure is way too high.” I asked, “Have you ever taken a Hood member’s blood pressure?” He frowned acknowledging, “Valid point. Beta Male Ted if you would please help.” He motioned for Ted to hold out his arm. The doctor took his blood pressure then frowned.
Eventually he said, “It seems both of yours are higher than wolves, but yours is still too high Luna.” I corrected him, “It’s Lexi, and to be fair I’ve had a hell of night.” The doctor laughed, “If you are still sick tomorrow call me.” I said, “If I’m still sick tomorrow the War Goddess and I are having ourselves a chat. I have plans tomorrow.” I was going to mark Chase. It WAS happening even if I felt like death.
Several hours later Chase and Heath arrived home and everyone else left. I smiled weakly at Heath, “It feels like detox week all over again.” Heath didn’t laugh. He agreed, “It looks like it too.” I winced, “Sorry.” Heath replied, “It’s not your fault.”
I studied him then asked, “So, did you like them better than I did?” Heath replied, “James seemed fine. It appears we have several cousins.” I asked, “Is James the oldest?” Heath answered, “No, we have older cousins. James is between us in age though.” I admitted, “I figured he was.”
Heath told me, “They want to sit down and talk with us, but they don’t want their people or ours to know about it.” I scoffed, “What? How would their people not know? Did they sneak me in and out or something?” Chase growled, “They did.”
Hurt flooded me and I wrapped my arms around myself. Chase said, “Lexi….” I whispered, “They are embarrassed of us?” Heath answered, “No, they are not embarrassed of us.” I pressed, “Then why did they sneak me in and out?” Heath said, “They suspect there is a traitor in both their Shroud, and ours. Especially after hearing Noah wasn’t your string.” Chase growled in response again.
I said, “We already knew we had one in ours.” Heath agreed, “Yes, we did.” I asked him, “Are you ok?” Heath admitted, “Not really. Are you?” I said, “Apart from feeling like I’m dying you mean? No, not ok.” Heath came over and took my hand. He smiled, “We are quite the pair you and I.”
I wiped away tears admitting, “I thought it was you coming in the room, not Jordan.” Heath said, “I missed you by minutes.” I smiled, “I knew we didn’t need them. I was stalling the Troll. I knew you were coming for me.”
Heath kissed my forehead agreeing, “We don’t need them. Do you want me to stay?” I said, “No, go home and get some rest. Can you come by tomorrow for lunch or dinner? Chase, do you guys do lunch or dinner?” Chase answered, “We do both.”
Heath squeezed my hand, “I’ll be here for one of them, I swear.” I nodded, “I love you, Heath.” Heath replied, “I love you too, Lex.” He gave me a hug and flashed out of the room. Chase cuddled me from behind. He asked, “Is this ok?”
Surprisingly even though he was warm his touch was comforting, even cooling to me. I nodded, “Yes.” Chase acknowledged, “I didn’t handle this well. Not knowing where you were. It was bad.” I cringed, “I don’t think I handled it well either. Family I’ve never met saw me vomit several times. You saw me vomit. Oh god, all the men in your family did. I’ll just go die of shame now.”
Chase assured me, “No one cared that you got sick. Not even your obnoxious family.” I said, “I don’t know that they deserve the name family. You, Heath, Haley, Sally, Susanna, and Ted are my family. There are more, but you get the point. Hell, your family is working into that category, but those people haven’t even tried. I just want to sleep and forget today.” Chase agreed, “Ok Sweetheart, you just sleep. I’ve got you.”
I woke up later feeling much better. I went into the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and used mouthwash. The smell of it nearly made me throw up though. Chase was going to have to get a new one. This one was awful. I went back and got into bed. Then decided now was as good a time as any to mark my man.
I slid down my side of the bed and then carefully got between Chase’s legs. I licked him from end to end and swirled my tongue around the head of his dick. He jerked and groaned, “Fuck Lexi….” I got him hard and then I straddled him. I pulled him up to me.
I smiled, “Merry Christmas, Alpha.” I slid down on his length. He groaned, “Is this a tradition of some kind? I could get used to it.” I smirked, “I could be talked into that.” He gripped my hips grunting as I brought him to his release.
