Katie grunted and held on Logan’s hand. Logan was petting her hair, “You’re doing so good. You’ve got this.” Doris coached, “One more big push. Come on, Katie.” She grunted and pushed. A cry filled the air. She sat back huffing. Haley snapped and Katie’s dress was back to normal and on a hanger. Katie herself was now in comfy sweats.
Haley walked over and put her hand on Katie. She healed her in minutes. Aiden snapped and the baby was clean, and in a blue blanket. Doris chuckled, “I need a fairy for all my births. That was something.” The female fairy said, “I would be honored to work beside you.” Doris raised an eyebrow, “Put your number in my phone. I might just call you sometime. You didn’t do bad, and you did offer to help.”
Lucinda slapped Aiden on the arm barely containing her excitement. Doris handed the baby to Katie. She cooed at him. Logan kissed the top of his son's head and then kissed Katie on the lips. He pulled back and said, “He’s beautiful. Just like his mother.” Katie laughed, “He’s handsome just like his daddy. He needs to meet his older brother.” My heart warmed for Logan. I knew he worried about how his mate would react to his oldest son, Maximus, if she wasn’t Hackura. It was clear Kaie loved Maximus though. Haley and her brothers gathered around to see him.
Dylan said, “You can’t make this stuff up.” He skipped away dragging me with him. He walked right up to Alpha Lucas. Dylan’s eyes were practically sparkling as he nudged him, “Lucas! We were present when a Hackura Prince was born. TELL ME OUR LIVES AREN’T AMAZING! Go ahead and try to argue with me. Oh, wait you can’t BECAUSE A PRINCE WAS JUST BORN IN OUR PRESENCE! GAP, you’re on deck. What are the fairies saying?”
Eric answered, “Aiden is giving a blessing to the baby along, as has my mate.” Dylan rolled his eyes interrupting, “Super fun sized fairy ninja goddess. Address her with her proper title GAP. Get it right. Continue.” Eric growled at him as my lips twitched. Eric continued, “The rest of them are collectively losing their shit about a Hackura Prince being born. Imagine what you were saying. It’s a lot like that.” Dylan declared, “MY PEOPLE! I HAVE ARRIVED!” I laughed.
Eric went over to meet his nephew. After a few more moments Logan looked at Bjourn who opened another portal that Logan took Katie, their son, and Doris back through. We all heard the celebrations happening in their realm before the portal closed.
Lucinda raised her glass and spoke in Fealish. Dylan nudged me, “I don’t even need a translation. That was obviously a toast to the new Prince. Who I CANNOT emphasize enough was born in our presence.” Eric scoffed, “Nothing gets by you, Dylan.”
Dylan agreed, “It really doesn’t. I know SO MANY THINGS! I’m having PALLETS of popcorn delivered to your house first thing tomorrow morning. I’m spending the night at your place by the way GAP. Lacy, we are having a sleepover with GAP and his family. I will not miss a SINGLE moment of this glorious meeting.”
Lucas said, “Dylan, we were already spending the night.” Dylan countered, “You were. I was going to make sure things were fine on the home front. Let me break it down for you on a drama scale. A pack of rogues could get in and take over our territory while we are gone. We could have to reclaim our territory back once the meeting is over, obviously removing the rogues would have to wait until then. THAT scenario would be so much less interesting, and drama packed then what we are about to witness. You have NO IDEA what’s coming, but Dylan does. Dylan knows all.”
Eric asked, “Did you say the meeting is tomorrow?” Dylan smiled, “Yes, I did. Your mate changed the date.” Eric groaned, “That can’t mean anything good.” Dylan gasped, “You hush! It’s GLORIOUS!” I couldn’t stop my laugh. Dylan nudged me, “These guys know your secret too.”
I blanched. How did they know about the babies? Eric’s eyes narrowed. Lucas hissed, “Dylan! We DO NOT know! We quite busy not knowing. Emmaline is pregnant. I do not NEED a problem between us right now. We JUST got married. Give me a break. I beg of you.”
Dylan teased, “Oh come on, you know. He was tan, she was going away, buy a vowel Lucas.” Haley walked over with Emmaline. She frowned, “Why would my lion need to buy a vowel?” Eric and I both started laughing. Haley continued, “You can’t buy a vowel, my friend Dylan. Vowels don’t cost money. What the fuck is happening over here?”
A woman walked over to our group and sighed. Her tone was dripping condescension, “I'm sure google could tell you, little girl.” She did not just say that. I glared at her. Haley asked, “Why would google tell me how much a vowel costs? That’s fucking ridiculous. It’s a vowel. Do you realize how many I just used? How would you even charge someone for a vowel? Is there some goddess counting vowels up there? I owe her a shit ton of money if so.”
Dylan cut in, “It’s a game show thing, my super fun sized ninja fairy goddess.” Haley sighed, “Sayings and game shows. Christ, I need a drink.” I raised an eyebrow at the woman who’d joined us as Haley walked away.
Aiden winked at me and stood close enough to our group he’d hear us talking. He must have been able to tell I was pissed. This woman acted like Haley should know better. She wasn’t raised on earth. She wouldn’t have known.
I crossed my arms and stated, “That was really rude. I’d watch it, lady. Haley is the Princess here, and unlike before that actually means something to her brother. Remember him? You know, the King over there. Her Hackura brothers have ALWAYS cared about disrespect aimed at their sister.”
I walked off before I threw my drink in her face. I heard her say, “She’s snippy. Oh, Debbie! You made it. Let me tell you about my garden. I’ve just got the green thumb this year.” I turned ready to launch my drink.
Dylan latched onto my arm, “Now, now you stay with me. That was amazing! Can I convince you to move in with our pack? I know someone would be upset about that, but he’d get over it and live. He could even visit.” I chuckled, “Sorry, I’m all moved out. Who is that bitch?” I was pretty sure I already knew. Dylan was about to answer me when we caught up to Haley.
Aiden popped and did his space unheard chant. Dylan said, “Moon Goddess, you do so much for me, but LET ME BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS SPACE UNHEARD CHANT! Please!” Aiden laughed, “You are. You just can’t tell Haley’s wolf what I’m about to say.” Dylan clapped and jumped up and down, “AND I GET TO KEEP A SECRET FROM GAP?!” Dylan whispered, “I love it here. I’m hiding when it’s time to leave. These are my people. I never want to leave.”
I laughed again. I said, “Thank you for all the laughs tonight, Dylan.” Haley asked, “Brother, what’s wrong?” Aiden answered, “Remember when I said Darrin and Harold being here would be problematic.” Haley sighed, “Lucinda said they could come after Cassandra insisted the family be together.” Aiden said, “Which is why they are here. I deny my Queen nothing.”
Dylan commented, “Who could blame you? She’s amazing.” Dylan looked at me and crossed his fingers. He said, “Lucinda and I are like this. Basically besties. SHHH don’t tell Lucas he gets jealous over my new besties. I’ve got Beta James Bond and Lucinda now. He’s all green with envy about it.” I promised, “Your secret is safe with me.” Dylan clapped, “Goodie.”
Aiden’s eyes were sparkling. Haley frowned, “My lion isn’t green. Aiden, what’s the problem?” Aiden said, “Right, the problem. That zealous group from Ireland we are meeting with tomorrow at your place. I confirmed with them earlier. Unfortunately, some of them popped here when they heard Darrin in Faerie. They intend to kill him. So come on. Let’s go have a chat with them.”
Haley scoffed, “I’m not talking to them. I’ll kill their pathetic asses. NO ONE kills any of my brothers in law.” Aiden said, “Yes, I’m bringing you in case the killing part is necessary. Come on, let’s go show these unintelligent fairies what happens when you mess with the promised siblings.” Haley smirked, “That’s why you’re telling me about this. Alright, whatever. Let’s go.”
She turned to me, “BA you’re good?” Dylan answered, “She’s so good. I’m all over her like white on rice.” Haley asked, “What?” I laughed, “He’s got my back.” Haley muttered, “It’s like it would kill people from the earthly realm to make fucking sense.” Haley popped away with Aiden.
Dylan and I made our rounds around the room. Haley had been gone for almost an hour when I made it back to Eric, Alpha Lucas, Emmaline, and Haley’s remaining Hackura brothers. The one’s who hadn’t had mates go into labor or give birth here.
Bjourn smiled, “BA, good to see you.” Dylan clapped, “Someone tell me that I know something Bjourn doesn’t.” I laughed. He wanted to know if Bjourn knew my real identity. I answered, “He knows the thing you are talking about, but the candy thing he doesn’t know that.” I’d decided to refer to my pregnancy as the candy thing as a code.
Emmaline bit her lip picking up on it. Dylan grinned broadly, “YES! Take that creepy ninja assassin future Hackura King. I know things you don’t.” Bjourn raised an eyebrow at me. He said, “Dylan, if it’s important I’ll know fairly quickly.”
Dylan shimmied his shoulders, “It’s so good. I’m practically salivating about the meeting tomorrow. It’s going to be a thing of pure beauty.” Bjourn nodded, “I did hear that date changed which did tell me something.” He shot me a look, which meant he knew I’d confirmed to Haley I’d met Chase. He definitely did NOT know I was pregnant though.
The older woman who’d been rude to Haley earlier spoke joined us. She looked around and sighed. She asked, “Where is Haley? She’s run off for almost an hour now. Can’t someone find her? Eric is worrying to death over here.” I raised an eyebrow. Emmaline frowned. Haley’s brothers tensed but said nothing.
I asked, “Cat got your tongue there, Bjourn?” Bjourn introduced me, “BA, this is Cassandra Conners.” I replied, “I figured that out myself. See I may be the one with a physical mask, but I saw past the façade to her bitch face just fine. My question still stands Bjourn.”
