I said, “I wish I could do something, you’re in pain.” Lexi said, “I’ll be fine.” Dr April was reading the monitor. She said, “We need to try to turn the pup, she’s not facing the right way. If she doesn’t cooperate, we will have to do a c-section.” Lexi said, “You’ll have to do it unmedicated.” Dr April startled, “Luna….” Lexi interrupted, “I said what I said. Do what you need to do.”

Dr April sighed and two nurses came over. Dr April handed Emmett to me. They began to push on Lexi’s stomach. Lexi gritted her teeth. Emmett started to cry. I soothed him, “Shhh, little man. Mommy is a warrior.”

I nearly snarled, “Dr April, what are you doing to my mate?” Dr April explained, “It’s a version. We are turning the stubborn little Luna.” Lexi was panting when they stopped. Tears were streaming down her face. D. April was reading a machine. She announced, “Ok little Emma’s heart rate picked up a bit there, but it’s back under control. Now, we just need to see if she stays in the correct position.”

Lexi instantly asked, “She might not?” Dr April admitted, “No, sometimes the little pup flips right back.” Lexi groaned, “Oh fuck me.” I wiggled my eyebrows. She glared at me, “You cannot be serious, Chase.” I laughed, “I was just trying to make you laugh.”

After thirty minutes Lexi said, “I feel that pressure again.” Dr April nodded, “We are in business again. Let’s push, Luna.” Lexi looked at her, “It’s Lexi and if you say some stupid shit about one last big push, I will kick you across the room.” I laughed putting Emmett down in the bassinet they’d brought for him.

I grabbed Lexi’s hand, “You’ve got this, Sweetheart. I know you can bring our little girl into the world. You take as many big or small pushes as you want.” She said, “Damn right I will. I vote for not so many pushes.” I smiled and kissed her forehead.

She gripped my hand and pushed again. Dr April said, “Oh ok then. This little one took her time but she’s trying to make it fast now.” The nurses flooded back into the room. Dr April instructed, “One more push ought to do it. I know it’s been a time of it for you but give me one more push.” Lexi groaned and yelled, squeezing my hand. We both heard a cry and Lexi fell back on the bed panting.

She tensed again then looked at Dr April. She asked, “Why am I still having contractions?” Dr April told her, “It’s after birth time. Give us another push.” Lexi yelled, “You bitch! You said one more push last time! I already pushed out two babies. Leave me alone you wicked witch!”

I linked Dr April, “I’m sorry.” Dr April chuckled, “Far worse has been said. It’s fine.” Lexi pushed again and the nurses and doctor pushed on her stomach. A nurse walked over with a pink blanket. As soon as she handed me Emma, I understood my father on a whole other level. This was my little girl. Bolt was purring over our pups. He pushed forward to take in her scent just like he did for Emmett.

Dr April finally stopped pushing on Lexi. I walked over and handed her Emma. I scooped Emmett up out of his bed. They cleaned Lexi up, and we spent some time just us four for a few minutes. I said, “You did amazing. I am in awe of you.” Lexi said, “I cannot believe somehow I’m convinced to have ten of them.” I laughed, “We will just take them as they come.” She grumbled, “Easy for you to say. They can never do that version shit again.” That was fine by me. All of this would be on her terms.

I changed the subject, “Do you want to see everyone?” Lexi nodded. I linked Eric, my dad, and Cameron, “You guys can come in.” Haley popped over to Lexi. She held out her hands. I closed my eyes this time enjoying the healing sensation. When I opened them, everything returned to normal.

My dad said, “You purred, like a cat.” I rolled my eyes. Eric laughed, “Everyone does, well that’s not the party being healed. Typically, anyway. Don’t feel bad, Chase.” I declared, “I don’t.” Haley spoke in Fealish then snapped. Lexi was in my hoodie and leggings.

Lexi had tears in her eyes. She grabbed Haley’s hand saying, “Thank you. I feel like me. I needed that.” Haley said, “I’ve always got your six, Lexi.” She smiled, “I know you do.” My dad said, “Can I hold one of them?” Lexi held out her hands so he could take Emma. She announced, “This is Emma.”

Nadine wrapped her arms around my dad's waist. She complimented, “She’s beautiful. Hello little Emma.” I asked, “Where’s Susie?” Nadine said, “She’s asleep, it's eleven thirty at night. You guys had Valentine’s Day babies.”

Eric linked me, “Haley blessed your pups in Fealish. It will help them sleep better.” I told him, “She is a goddess. Beta Dylan is right about that. Do we need to start or sign a petition or something?” Eric smiled, “No, I tell her everyday she’s an Angel.” I said, “You’re right. She’s a goddess and an angel.”

I linked Lexi, “Your little sister did some blessing that helps our pups sleep.” She smiled replying, “That sounds like her.” Cameron and Reagan came over. Cameron asked me, “Can I hold him?” I said, “Of course you can, little brother.” I handed Emmett off.

Heath flashed into Lexi’s side then kissed her forehead. My dad said, “I begrudgingly offer you the chance to hold your niece.” Heath smiled, “I’d love to.” Allie flashed in and walked over to Lexi. Heath took Emma from my dad.

Derrick linked me, “Ummm Allie just called Sally. Were your pups really just born?” I proudly told him, “They are here, man. Lexi didn’t want to take focus away from Ted and Matt.” Derrick said, “I’m on the way.” He linked back minutes later, “Scratch that WE are on the way.”

Derrick and Sally came in moments later. Derrick came over to me chuckling, “Congratulations man.” I smiled, “Thanks, Derrick. You’re quite literally next.” He smiled, “Hard to believe.” I agreed, “Yeah it is.”

Everyone filtered slowly out. Lexi was discharged because Haley had healed her. My dad, Nadine, Cameron, and Reagan walked back over with us to the main house. I walked to the twin’s room, but Lexi stopped me. She said, “I had Haley snap us bassinets in our room. I don’t know if I can let them be in their rooms until…”

I understood immediately, “Of course. Let’s go to our room.” Two bassinets were in there. Of course she wanted them close until Hanson was caught. We put them down and I pulled Lexi to me. I kissed her cheek then said, “I love you so much, Sweetheart.” She said, “I love you too.” We both fell asleep.

To my surprise I was not woken up by a pup’s cry. I was woken up by Matt linking me, “YOU HAD YOUR PUPS AND YOU DIDN’T LINK ME?!” I was startled awake. Lexi was still sleeping so I got up and I walked downstairs.

I found Matt and Ted waiting in the living room for me. Matt practically pounced on me the second I came into view. He lamented, “Derrick here tells me the twins were born. WHY DIDN’T I KNOW THAT?”

I rubbed my face, “Because Lexi wanted yesterday to be about you guys. She didn’t know she was in labor and thought her back just hurt. Her water broke after you left, and Haley popped her over to the hospital. I didn't even know she was in labor until I got there.”

Matt huffed, “Fine. You are forgiven.” I heard a cry. I asked, “Do you want to come meet them?” Ted flashed up the stairs squealing, “YES! I thought you weren’t going to ask.” I laughed and Matt and I followed him up the stairs to see my family.

Karaoke Night

Lexi pushed with everything in her when Dr April told her to. I was pushing while the doctor counted to ten. I swear she was counting as slow as humanly possible to taunt me. I contemplated pulling her hair out. Was she joking? What did she think I was doing with the other pushes? Half assing it? If I could’ve reached her, I’d have punched her. One big push, I internally scoffed. That bitch.

Besides, unless they were both coming out right now. She was a filthy fucking lying bitch. I almost panicked because I didn’t hear a cry when I felt the fire in my lady parts recede. The evil doctor wasn’t making a big deal of it though, so I was marginally less concerned.

Finally, she announced Emmett was here. I wanted to cry tears of joy. Despite everyone’s efforts, Emmett was here. I wanted to see him, but the nurse took him away. I watched all her movements ready to bolt up out of this bed if she walked anywhere outside with him.

A fierce protective instinct was clawing at me. Luckily for her she handed Emmett to Chase. I relaxed and tears welled my eyes. Chase was holding our son. When he put him in my arms, I knew a piece of my heart was now on the outside and one day he’d run this pack.
