Haley admitted, “I feel bad saying it is.” I frowned, “Why?” Haley said, “They are such a close family. I feel like the rock that broke the glass.” I said, “You aren’t, she is.” Miley chimed in, “Agreed. She’s the problem, not you. Eric is the one who told her to stay there. I don’t believe she said she’s enjoying the mountain air. He ordered her to stay there.” Haley shrugged.
I grimaced, “Oh no.” I felt liquid running down my legs. Haley snapped her fingers saying, “Miles, you're up.” Haley popped me away to the pack hospital. Dr April was in the room. She was startled by our appearance. I told her, “My water broke.” Dr. April questioned, “Where is the Alpha?” I ordered, “Don’t you dare link him! I don’t want any attention drawn away from Matt and Ted. Miley is coming up with a reason to get him out of there.” Dr. April said, “Ok then. Let’s get you checked.”
Haley snapped me into a cute hospital gown. This had to be some fairy thing, the ones I’d seen did not look like this. Dr. April put my feet into stirrups. She said, “Luna…” I interrupted, “It’s Lexi…” I took Haley's hand. I asked, “Is something wrong?” Dr. April said, “How long have you been feeling pain?” I admitted, “My back has been killing me since five this morning. Why?”
Dr. April answered, “Because it’s time to push. The Alpha needs to run his happy little ass over here.” Haley announced, “He’s on the way.” Chase came tearing into the room, breathing heavy. He said, “Next time there will be no moving things! I will HIRE people to do things. Hell, I will ORDER pack members to do it for you. Is her back hurt?” Haley laughed, “We will be outside. I’ll go get Heath.” I said, “Thank you.”
Chase asked, “You need Heath? Why? What’s…?” I interrupted him, “Chase, the twins are coming.” Chase’s jaw dropped. He rushed to the bed, “Are you sure?” Dr. April replied, “I am.” I said, “My water broke that’s why Haley popped me out.”
Chase growled, “Next time yell CHASE GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” I laughed, “I didn’t want it to be about me. HOLY SHIT WHY DO I FEEL SO MUCH PRESSURE!” Dr. April explained, “Because you need to push. Come on, Luna! Give me a good push!” I gripped Chase's hand and squeezed. Chase smiled at me and wiped a tear from his eye. It was time to meet Emma and Emmett for real and not in the future. I smiled then quickly groaned and started to push.
Three Challenges
Chase woke up and reached for Lexi. I startled straight up into a seated position in bed when I found her side of the bed was cold. I linked Kincade, “Tell me you’re with Lexi.” Kincade replied, “Carry and I just left her. She’s with Heath.” I questioned, “What were you guys doing?” Kincade explained, “Setting up for TeleTed and Beta Matt’s wedding. I don’t know if you know this about your mate but she’s a BIT of a perfectionist.” I snorted, “I think that’s her job combined with wanting Ted’s dream wedding to be perfect.”
I linked Matt, “When are you heading up to the main house?” Matt answered, “As soon as Lexi gets here. Is she up yet?” I said, “She’s been setting up the wedding apparently. I get the sense she might have made Kincade move things around a million times. He called her a perfectionist.” Matt chuckled, “I’d say how silly of her, but I know Ted will appreciate every second of her hard work.”
I got up and showered. I stepped out to my phone ringing. I looked and frowned. I answered, “Alpha Lucas?” Alpha Lucas greeted, “Good morning, Alpha Chase. I just wanted to call because I’d been forgetting to tell you; we are coming today. Well, Emmaline and I are coming. My nephew was born this morning and Dylan adamantly refuses to leave their sides. Haley healed Lacy, but she’s not ready to venture out with their pup yet.”
I assured him, “Tell him not to worry about it. I would do the same thing in his place.” Alpha Lucas laughed, “He said Alpha Baby Daddy would feel the same way.” I winced, “I’m not getting rid of this nickname, am I?” Alpha Lucas answered, “I’m afraid not. Anyway, Emmaline and I will be late. Her brother, Ryan Bishop, is marrying Valerie from my pack today.”
I assured him, “It’s not a problem. I completely understand. Matt will too.” I walked down the stairs and found my dad, Cameron, Derrick, and Isaac sitting at the table. I asked him, “When are you having your female lead warrior tournament? I’m debating on whether we should wait until after the school year is over.” Alpha Lucas laughed, “I’m actually thinking we will host ours in late May. Valerie is pregnant and she wants to compete. I think she might just win the whole damn thing.”
He admitted, “I’m actually speaking with the principal at our school. We are having our graduation in late April, possibly the first week of May. The Quads are measuring on track to be born the second week of May. The pack OB thinks since there are four of them her pregnancy could be a week or two longer than normal fairies. She does have human blood too so it’s mostly a guessing game. I hate the damn guessing game. It does not give me peace at all, but I don’t want Emmaline to stress about graduation.”
His voice was full of pride as he said, “She’s likely going to be the valedictorian of her class. I want her to be able to give her speech.” I pointed out, “You are the Alpha. I’m sure the principal will do it. Are there any humans left in the school?” Alpha Lucas thought about it then replied, “Actually, no. There was one left, but the family just moved.”
I said, “Alright. Matt and I will have to talk about when our tournament will be. I need to know when Lexi wants to get married.” Alpha Lucas snorted, “Definitely get that date before you plan the tournament. You might get an arrow or two to the thigh if you picked a date that she wanted your wedding to be.” I rolled my eyes. Of course he knew my mate was BA. Beta Dylan and Emmaline knew, and he’d been in Russia when Lexi was there as BA to bring Emmaline home.
Matt came into the room, and I nodded to him. I said, “I have to go, Alpha Lucas.” Alpha Lucas said, “I’ll see you all later today.” I replied, “Of course. Congratulate your Luna’s brother for me.” He chuckled, “I’ll do that.” He hung up.
I walked over and gave Matt a hug. “I’m really happy for you, man.” Matt smiled, “Joanie was just popped back in. She’s going to sing for us today and Ted is really excited about it.” Isaac walked up and hugged him next. He said, “I was a little worried you and Ted would show favoritism to the pups that were biological yours, but that Ted of yours; he’s cast all those fears out with how excited he is for this pup.” My dad winked at me.
Isaac chuckled, “Did you know he printed off a list for your pup registry of what you need? He’s reading up on things for Joanie. He actually gathered up the she wolves who have three- to five-month-olds and asked what they didn't have that they needed. I’m fairly certain he’ll create a kit full of information for future parents. He loves your pup already, and you’ll do the same for him if you don’t want to get in a fight with your old man.”
Matt smiled agreeing, “He’s one of a kind my Ted. I’m not going to play favorites. All the pups will be mine whether they have my DNA or not.” Isaac said, “Good man, son. Good man.” My phone rang again. Cameron said, “Someone’s going to have to tell everyone to go away. It’s your Beta’s wedding day.”
I rolled my eyes and answered after reading who it was. I said, “Eric, give me just a second.” I muted the phone and said, “I’ll be right back.” Matt called, “Lexi’s back is killing her.” I turned and frowned, “Why?” Matt answered, “Apparently when Kincade told you she was perfectionist it was because she was the one moving and putting things in their perfect spot.”
I groaned, “I’ll check on her after this.” Matt said, “Ted was going to get her in a hot bath.” I sighed, “Someone link Dr. April and see if we need to get Lexi to her.” My dad snorted, “Chase, pregnant women’s backs hurt all the time. She’s probably fine.” I said, “If it’s all the same to you dad, I’d like the doctor to say that. Since you don’t have a doctorate in medicine or at all.” My dad rolled his eyes and I walked into my office.
I apologized, “Sorry about the wait, Eric.” Eric didn’t mince words, “You have three Alpha’s from Louisiana on their way to you. They just crossed through my territory.” I had a sinking feeling as I asked, “Why?” Eric admitted, “I don’t know but given who it is, I could guess.” I groaned, “Who?” Eric answered, “Alpha Sail, Alpha Roberts, and Alpha Boudreaux.”
I growled “SON OF A BITCH!” Eric said, “Exactly, if you need us, I’ll come early.” I asked, “Does Haley know they are coming?” Eric snorted, “No, she’s setting up something else for the next part of our Valentine’s Day.” I asked, “Does she still have wings?” Eric answered, “Aiden showed up fifteen minutes ago and walked her through how to make them disappear and appear. It’s a sight to see.” I snorted, “I’d imagine. Watching her get them was something.”
Alpha Jackson said, “Eric, Haley linked me to tell you she’s ready for you now.” Eric said, “She didn’t link me herself because?” Alpha Jackson teased, “I don’t ask my super powerful sister-in-law questions. She asked if I could get you so here I am, getting you.” Eric snorted, “I have to go, Chase. Caleb knows to interrupt me if you need us.” I said, “Thank you Eric.” I hung up and walked out of my office.
I said, “Derrick, Isaac, why don’t you move this party to your house. It’s Matt’s childhood home after all.” Derrick linked me, “What happened?” I answered, “Redneck hick, backwards ass Alpha’s are on the way.” Derrick sighed. Isaac agreed, “Sure.” Matt said, “Don’t think I don’t know something is going on.” I responded, “I’ll handle it. You get ready for your mating ceremony.”
I waited until they left and called Heath. He answered immediately, “Hello, Chase.” I said, “I know you were just here, but you need to get back. I have three Alpha’s on the way to try and stop the mating ceremony.” Heath questioned, “Stop the wedding? Seriously?” I answered, “Yes, they are passing through Alpha Eric’s territory as we speak. Technically speaking, I’m just guessing why they are on their way to me, but they are from Louisiana. Their packs have been very vocal about how they feel about same sex couples.”
Heath asked, “Are they your allies?” I snorted, “They wish they were my allies.” Heath said, “I’ll be there soon.” He hung up. My dad questioned, “Seriously? Which Alpha’s? No, let me guess. One has to be Boudreaux. If he comes, Sail will come and I’m not sure who the third is.” I answered, “Roberts.” Cameron sighed, “Damn.”
I asked, “Dad, will you go check on Lexi for me. What did Dr. April say?” My dad snorted, “Dr. April said that Lexi isn’t allowed to lift things anymore.” I laughed, “Yeah, well she and I agree there.” My dad said, “I can stay for your meeting.” I closed my eyes, “Stay until lunch. I want to know Lexi is ok, and I only trust so many people with that assessment.”
Cameron said, “Not to split hairs here, but dad can’t get into Ted’s house.” I argued, “You can though.” Cameron nodded then his phone rang. I groaned, “For the love of god, what now?” He answered, “Rick?” Rick said, “Luna Reagan, doesn’t want me to call but she’s been sick all morning.” Cameron replied, “I’m on the way.” I called, “Take any SUV, Cameron.” He nodded and ran out the door.
My dad said, “He can’t do anything, it’s morning sickness.” I rolled my eyes saying, “As IF you wouldn’t do the same thing for Nadine.” My dad grumbled, “If you’re just going to throw my mate in my face it’s no fun to point out that he can’t do anything.” I rolled my eyes. I said, “It would appear we are now back to you checking on Lexi later.” My dad agreed, “I can handle that. Somehow.”
