Cameron linked me, “I am at a loss.” I replied, “So am I.” Everyone, including Beta Dylan, stopped when the baby’s hands started to glow. She shot her light into King Arthur. His skin glowed then Roberts’ did too for a brief second. We all looked at Aiden who had to explain what just happened.
I did not like this explanation. I locked eyes with Alpha Eric and Alpha Lucas. Both closed their eyes in frustration. If that got out, vampires would come for their mates and their pups. Especially Haley. She was gathering partial fairies. They would try to find fairies through her. King Arthur gave his word they’d keep it quiet. I prayed to the Moon Goddess that would stay quiet. We had enough going on.
Beta Dylan was typing furiously again on his phone. I linked Alpha Lucas, “He’s not telling people that, is he?” Alpha Lucas answered, “He’s upping our border patrol. He would never put Emmaline in danger.” I reasoned, “Technically telling your allies Beta’s in his group chat is keeping it among allies.”
Alpha Lucas said, “I’d prefer that it does not leave this group here.” I agreed, “I have a fairy in my pack too. I’d prefer vampires stay away from him.” Alpha Lucas nodded. I linked Matt, “Up our border patrol and get someone subtly guarding Oscar.” Matt growled, “What? Why? Is someone at that bank after him? I’ll rip them apart.” I replied, “It’s a precaution and no. No one I know is currently after him.” Matt replied, “Getting him a guard and figuring out border patrols.” Good.
My dad said, “He’s got centuries of names floating around his head. He had to think about their kids’ names.” He had a point, and he was right. She had a name already. I linked my dad, “Is Breanna the first fairy vampire hybrid?” My dad answered, “That I know of, yes. In actuality? Probably not. The Fae and Vampires have been around forever. I’m sure they just kept it quiet. Until recently the fairies didn’t even accept any other type of partial Fae.” I pointed out, “Some of them did.” My dad said, “They kept it quiet though, didn’t they?” I agreed. They did.
Aiden warned King Arthur that as part of their family people would be interested in Breanna. Robert and King Arthur’s fangs snapped down. Susanna smiled at both their reactions. Breanna popped back into her dad’s arms and his fangs retracted.
I linked Alpha Eric, “That was odd right?” Alpha Eric agreed, “Yes.” Aiden announced Breanna was an empath. Oh boy. King Arthur calmed down because she calmed him down. Haley told King Arthur she’d snapped everything he’d need for Breanna at his home. She handed him a pink diaper bag with unicorns on it. I had to look away because I didn’t want to laugh at the Vampire King of Tennessee as he held a unicorn diaper bag. Bexley popped them out.
Beta Dylan said, “GAP, your goddess of a mate just handed the Vampire King a pink unicorn diaper bag and I could not love her more if I tried. No one worry, I have a picture.” Alpha Lucas groaned, “Dylan….” Dylan said, “I only sent it to our ally's Beta’s. Who’s going to say anything to the Vampire King of the state? No one who likes their blood in their bodies. It’s harmless.” I snorted.
My dad linked me, “He is as close as a wolf can get to floating on air right now. That was probably true.” Bolt linked, “Ask about Ted’s children being born that way.” I listened to my wolf. My dad linked me, “Is that your way of asking if they can become the storks of the supernatural world?” I nodded, “Yes but also how cool would that be? Then we don’t need to find a surrogate for him.”
The answer was yes. That was so damn cool. Then I found out why Aiden was so upset. His mom knew and didn’t tell them they were the promised siblings. Really? Did this woman love any of her children?
Alpha Eric linked me, “Alania tried to help Arion take Haley and my pups after she gave birth. I’m sure she thought he would be successful. She must have seen a path where it happened. I hate that bitch.” I said, “I’d hate her too if I was you.” I also noticed he used the present and not past tense which I wasn’t commenting on.
Haley popped her group and Lexi back to her palace. I said, “Aiden, she took my mate.” Aiden smiled, “Lexi is perfectly safe. My sister has a bit of flight response to discussing our family. Especially when they keep turning out to be worse than we thought.” He gathered up our group.
I questioned, “You're mad at your mom too?” Aiden snorted, “She found out I had a son in an orphanage run by my uncle. She then left all her homes to Haley so the information would be destroyed. I might not have met my son until he popped to me angry at me for never being with him. My own son would have hated me for leaving him alone, when I never knew he existed. ‘Mad’ does not cover how I feel when it comes to my mother.” He popped us away with that statement.
I grabbed Lexi the second I was back in the room with her. Jordan wanted to be caught up on events. Matt linked me, “I heard about that baby on the group chat. He insisted he wasn’t messing with us.” I said, “He’s not, and I think we should call her a Faepire.” Matt said, “I like it.”
Jordan was visibly upset when he heard James on the port say he had custody of Heath and Lexi. He confirmed that he never knew. Jordan vowed to find out who betrayed him. I hoped for his sake that it wasn’t the family members who had left.
We all saw as pictures tumbled out of the letter for Jordan. James had proof Lizzy was alive. Jordan was upset he’d never told him. The only reason I’d hold back something like that from Cameron would be to protect him. Lexi and Heath looked at the pictures then each other. They both seemed confused. They didn’t say anything though.
My dad linked, “There’s something familiar about her eyes.” I pointed out, “You just saw her twin.” My dad said, “No, just her eyes but I can’t place it.” I reasoned, “It didn’t seem like Heath or Lexi did either.”
Suddenly, Jasper practically jumped to his feet. I could smell someone in the hall. Matt linked me, “Seriously? His string just happened to walk in?” I looked over at Allie. I said, “No. I think Allie called her sister.” Jasper threw the door open and there stood Tilly. It was mere minutes before they left to spend time alone together.
Details of the pup shower invitations were worked out. We stayed a little bit longer, but when Lexi looked like she was about to fall asleep sitting up. I asked Haley, “Will you pop us home?” She nodded and popped our group home with Alpha Eric. I asked, “Could you wait one second?” They nodded. I carried Lexi up to bed. She was already asleep, so I came back down.
I said to Haley, “I imagine you’d know the perfect engagement ring for Lexi.” Haley squealed then clapped her hand over her mouth. I explained, “I want the main stone to be a black diamond. I’d imagine the best one I can buy is in Faerie.” Haley said, “Umm duh.”
I laughed, “I’d like you to get it for me, please. I want her to love her ring, so cost is not a factor. Get her the most Lexi ring you can.” Haley clapped, “I know EXACTLY what to get. I want to see it on her finger at her baby shower though. I’ll coordinate her dress to match it and everything. Everyone will go fucking insane if she’s engaged at her shower.” I laughed agreeing I could do that.
I said, “Get me the ring by then, and I’ll see what I can do.” Alpha Eric snorted. Haley said, “I’ll be back in the morning with your ring. Which means I BETTER see it by her shower. Come on Eric! We are going shopping in Faerie.”
Alpha Eric said, “You did have such fun last time, and I even got several things for you.” Haley tapped his nose, “You keep teasing me with that.” Alpha Eric smiled, “I gave you some for Christmas.” Haley giggled, “I love my necklace.” Alpha Eric practically cooed, “I love you.” She laughed as she popped them both away.
My dad said from the doorway, “I never thought I’d see the great Alpha Eric Conners doe eyed over a woman.” I said, “You knew he’d find his mate.” My dad replied, “I thought he’d take the Fairy Princess as his chosen mate, but he’s thirty-two. A lot of us thought his mate was dead. Including Alpha Eric at times.” Well, it had all worked out.
My dad changed the subject, “So, you’re proposing to Lexi.” I raised an eyebrow responding, “That can’t surprise you.” My dad huffed, “The surprising part is how long you waited.” I argued, “I was getting everything settled. We’ve been pretty damn busy.”
My dad laughed, “True and yet you found the time to knock her up.” I said, “I was waiting for the Sophia thing to be handled. I couldn’t ask Haley to look for an engagement ring back then. She didn’t know until New Year’s Eve I was even with Lexi.”
My dad retorted, “It’s almost February.” I said, “Damn old man, there’s no pleasing you.” My dad laughed and walked away. As I went upstairs, he said, “I’d better see this ring before it’s on her finger.” I called, “You have so many demands.” We both laughed and I walked upstairs and got into bed with Lexi.
Matt linked me the next morning, “Alpha Eric and Haley are here. I want to know why because she looks visibly excited. VISIBLY. She’s normally a vault.” I looked at the clock then snorted, “Aren’t you chipper for six in the morning?” Matt retorted, “She came with coffee and said nothing until I drank it all. She is a national treasure.” I laughed. I got up and grabbed some sweats and a t-shirt.
I walked downstairs. Haley was bouncing up and down. My dad was sitting in the kitchen eating his breakfast like always. Alpha Eric greeted, “Good morning. We HAD to come show you the ring first thing. I barely stopped her from popping us back here once she’d gotten the ring perfected in Faerie.”
I asked, “How did you stop her?” Alpha Eric smirked but said nothing. Matt linked, “He gave her that D.” I replied, “Good lord. What kind of coffee did she give you? I need it in bulk.” He shrugged. Haley said, “Come on, let move this along. The triplets will be up at seven!” I agreed, “Ok, show me.”
