Raphael answered, “I can.” Haley said, “Great. Now, let’s all shift back to our human fucking selves and talk about this.” I grumbled. Matt linked me, “We can always shift and kill him if need be.” He had a point.
I shifted back. Beta Dylan threw me shorts. I glared at Raphael, “Speak of my mate that way again, and I’ll end you.” Raphael looked at Lexi. He said, “I asked for word several times if my warning was headed. I didn’t really even know the full picture until after I went home. I would’ve told you.” He was lying.
I glanced at Lexi. I could see it on her face that she didn’t believe him. Raphael turned to Haley, “Tell her I’m telling the truth.” This time Alpha Eric growled. Haley scoffed, “He is somewhat telling the truth.” I shook my head. Lexi said, “I know he is. You still knew she could need me.”
Raphael said, “It was not my place to alter your path for something that might happen. Henrick was important in your path. I just didn’t know why. Now I do, he brought your friend and his mate together. His mate was avoiding him. Knowing he was in danger forced Beta Matt into action. Henrick also started your path to your wolf.”
Beta Dylan was crunching away on popcorn. Lexi ignored all that stating, “So you’ll help us.” Raphael said, “Yes, I will help you, Lexi.” I growled and put her behind me again. Alpha Eric linked me, “What do you want to do here?” I didn’t know. I admitted, “We need him but if he touches her again I will forget that.” Alpha Eric said, “Understood.”
Alpha Jackson came into the clearing. He asked, “So my brother’s and I couldn’t find you because you are not a werewolf, but an Angel. What did you do to the werewolf? You know, the one who was the actual priest?” Raphael answered, “I merely borrowed his scent and used my magic to give off the impression I had a wolf. He woke up a few hours later feeling like he took a great nap. I’m sure he didn’t say anything because who wants to offend your family?”
Alpha Eric snorted, “You, evidently.” Raphael offered, “I meant no offense.” He tilted his head to the side. I looked down and Lexi was peeking out from behind me. He said, “I’ll get this and get it back to you. I do not want anything to happen to your string. Just as I hope you would help my wing one day should she need help.” Lexi said, “Of course, Raph.” I growled.
I needed her to stop calling him that. He smiled and disappeared in a gold burst of light. Lexi said, “Haley.” Haley grabbed her hand and popped her and I to a room in the house. She squeezed Lexi’s hand and popped out. Lexi cautiously said, “Chase…” I cut her off. I devoured her lips with my own. I looked her in the eyes and growled, “MINE!” She replied, “Yours.” I set about proving that.
Sharing What We Know
Lexi was startled to realize Dylan was here. I hadn’t even seen him before Haley popped us out. Was Chase really this upset over a hug? I shot Raph an apologetic glance. He simply tilted his head. Cameron and Reagan ran into the area. Reagan shot me a sympathetic glance.
I was biting my tongue because I wanted to point out that I didn’t marry Raph, unlike Chase and Sophia. It didn't seem like it would be helpful here. I watched as a pack member brought Dylan some popcorn. Does he just have people on standby at all times? I was beginning to think Beta Dylan could be part fairy himself. He was mischievous and fun.
Raph pushed Chase. Couldn’t he just have said nothing? Couldn’t they BOTH say nothing? This was absurd. I tried giving Chase a meaningful look, but he was glaring at Raph and missed it. For god's sake, we needed to expedite getting this knife out of circulation. It wanted to kill Chase!
Haley looked like she wanted to knock some sense into everyone. Raph was winking and being overly flirty. Really? Were all men such babies? Eric asked why Raph had been at their wedding. Thank god. There was someone else with a pressing question. Maybe everyone could calm down while we answered that.
It hit me. Raph was at their wedding. He knew and it hurt more than I cared to admit. I let Raph hear and see my hurt. He’d lied to me. He’d said he would’ve told me about Haley’s situation, but he hadn’t. He’d let Heath take the brunt of my anger when it SHOULD have been shared between the two of them. He just wanted to fuck me again before he left this realm.
He said we all have our paths. Was he for real? Then he started messing with Chase again. Why was he goading my string? He KNEW how wolves were about their mates. Sexist as all get out apparently, but possessive, nonetheless.
Chase shifted. I screamed hoping they’d stop. Raph simply flew over Chase. Heath grabbed me and zipped me out of the way. I shot a look at Haley, and I gave her our sign. I patted my thigh. She knew that would mean to stop them. Haley nodded and popped between them.
Eric ran to her side. He was facing Raph though ready to tear him apart. Haley got them back on task asking about the supplies. She conjured the list of things to him. He read it and said he could help us. I wiped my tears away quickly. Stupid hormones.
I shot a surprised look over to Haley when Raph asked her to tell me he was telling the truth. Raph told me angels could tell when people were in their minds. Haley could make him tell the truth, but he would’ve known the whole time she was doing that. He also would know who was doing it. He couldn’t stop it though. Haley evaded. Raph didn’t expect her not to realize that he could keep some of the truth to himself. Angels had that ability, something else he’d told me.
I shoved all that away to focus. Because I didn’t believe his logic. Demons brought Chase and I together. I would’ve met him, and Matt would’ve met Ted. We didn’t need Henrick to do it. I was relieved he was going to help. I was thanking the War Goddess. I REALLY didn’t want to worry about some ancient knife that was intent on killing my string.
I peeked around Chase so I could still see everyone. Eric’s brother stepped forward to ask a question. I was trying to remember which one he was, then I saw Molly at his side. That would make him Alpha Jackson. I hoped Raph didn’t hurt some poor priest. Thankfully, he hadn’t. He just used his essence to enhance his own magic to pretend he was a werewolf.
Eric looked off into the distance. He was probably ordering someone to go check out Raph’s story. He wanted to make sure the werewolf was in fact alive. Raph agreed to help us then apparated. He always had the best exits literally disappearing into a light. It was cool.
Haley popped Chase and I out for some privacy. I turned, about to talk to Chase, when his mouth was hungrily on mine. My hormones were in favor of this plan. He broke our kiss to say I was his. Was he serious? Was that even a debate? I inwardly rolled my eyes as his lips came back to mine. He grabbed both my hands and backed us into the wall. He took them both and grabbed them in a vice grip above my head. He bit my mark. I tried to free my hands, but he wouldn't let them go. He made me come by biting, licking, and sucking on my mark.
He finally released my hands and instantly placed them on his chest. He ripped my shirt off as I yanked his shorts down. He picked me up and put me down on the bed and took my pants off in one swift move. His head was between my legs before I could process that he’d moved.
I screamed when his tongue touched my clit. My hips were moving in rhythm with his tongue. His fingers were gripping my hips to try to still them, but he couldn’t. I screamed his name, “CHASE!” He climbed up my body while I was still riding my orgasm and slid into me. I gurgled a strange noise it was such an intense feeling.
He grabbed my chin and looked into my eyes ordering, “Say you’re mine, Sweetheart.” I said, “I’m yours.” He slammed into me. I’m sure everyone in this place could hear my screams. We were tangled up for god knows how long before we fell apart. I was breathing heavily when I looked around. This was the guest room Haley had put me in before. Knowing Haley, she’d designated it as my room and stocked it accordingly.
I got up and went to the closet. Chase questioned, “What are you doing?” I opened the door and turned on the light. Sure enough, there were clothes for Chase and me. I threw him some jeans and a t-shirt. He asked, “Whose are these?” I answered, “Yours. This is my room when I stay here.”
I grabbed a black and white striped maternity long sleeved shirt with maternity jeans. Haley just never missed a beat. I grabbed the all black flat tennis shoes. Chase touched my stomach when I came out. He said, “I swear this grows every time I look at it. I’m amazed by you and what your body is doing.” I retorted, “Don’t think that we aren’t talking about what just happened.”
Chase frowned, “Me claiming you?” I scoffed, “No, you being a complete ASS about Raph.” Chase growled, “Please stop calling him that.” I said, “Please remember I didn’t MARRY HIM!” Chase winced, “I didn’t sleep with Sophia.”
I acknowledged, “I’m aware. Or she’d have three arrows sticking out of her chest and be VERY dead. I’m not going to fight every girl you slept with before me. Do me the same courtesy. ESPECIALLY one that can help us destroy this knife that someone sold their soul to use to kill you.”
Chase hugged me, “I’m sorry. I just get crazy about it. I am part animal though, Sweetheart.” I said, “I’m aware just cool your jets.” I sighed and hugged him back. I stepped back asking, “What time is it?” Chase answered with a smirk, “Fifteen minutes past the family meeting start time.” I shrugged. Oh well.
