My family was waiting inside the doorway. My dad was still not over me calling an emergency family meeting. This was their fault, I told them it was nothing bad. I had no intention of keeping my pups a secret. I wanted them to know so I could link the pack.

Matt and Derrick linked me, “He’s mad so we’re out.” I replied, “Thanks for having my back.” Matt said, “Anytime Chase, anytime.” My dad had gone to the worst case scenario. Cameron linked me, “You owe me so much whiskey. He has been going through scenarios and battle plans based on the made up scenarios.”

I said, “I told you guys it wasn’t bad.” Cameron glared at me, “Sometimes Chase it’s like you don’t know the old man.” I linked them, “Head into the living room, and I’ll tell you.” My dad growled, “Emergency. I’ll type out the definition and put it on the door to your office. I’m even going to laminate it.” Sure, he would.

Cameron linked me, “You did not just say you had news. WE ALREADY KNOW THAT! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CHASE!” I smirked. Bolt purred, “It’s mean, but I don’t care.” He was still blissed out we were having pups with our mate. I replied, “Maybe it’s mean, but it’s definitely funny.”

I wrapped my arm around Lexi possessively when my dad theorized about a long mission. Cameron linked, “I know that’s not that. That would be bad news. I tried to tell him that.” I replied, “It’s not that.” Lexi offered that she was actually out of the field. I gave them a beat. That should give them a big clue.

Nadine linked me, “I already know she’s pregnant.” I asked, “How?” Nadine replied, “Happy howl, breakfast, and she’s been sick. I put it together.” Of course it was a woman that caught on first. I teased Cameron, “Catch up, little brother.” Cameron frowned, “To what?”

Susie got it next. I smirked and linked Cameron again, “Seriously, our six-year-old sister picked it up before you, you’re slipping.” I confirmed it, paused then dropped the twin’s bomb. Their faces were priceless. None of the girls had guessed that.

I linked the pack, “Your Luna is pregnant with twins.” Howls of celebration went up around the pack. Isabella linked me, “ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!” I replied, “I am serious.” She just linked me back screaming until I closed the link.

Kincade linked me, “Congratulations, Alpha. Can we add Ken and Kyler to the Luna’s detail until the twins are born?” I agreed, “Yes.” I was all for having more people on Lexi until Noah was caught. I linked April, our pack OB, “The Luna and I will be coming to you shortly. Haley Conners healed her twice which we were told will speed up her pregnancy.”

April replied, “I’ll be ready for you both Alpha. We will get some answers.” That was a relief. I wanted Noah gone before they arrived. I need a timeframe. Cameron linked me, “I’m sorry, did your mate just say she saw the future?” I replied, “Yes.”

Cameron said, “I need more than she saw them in the future that Haley showed her.” I admitted, “I don’t have many details to give you, little brother. I’ve been hit with too much news to ask. I know it brought her back to me.” Cameron sighed, “Fair enough. I thought she was on birth control.” I tensed. Cameron said, “Well that reaction needs to be explained.” I gritted out, “Later.” He nodded. My dad frowned at me and clearly linked Cameron.

Before Lexi announced the names, she told us in the future she saw she was pregnant again with twin boys. Bolt purred obnoxiously in my head. Cameron said, “Damn, big brother.” I couldn’t stop my smile. My dad's eyes instantly filled with tears when he heard our pups’ names, but I was watching Nadine. I didn’t want this to upset her. Thank the goddess she it didn’t.

My dad hugged Lexi thanking her for including my mother in our pups’ lives the only way we could. I’d show them pictures and tell them all about her. Bolt told me, “We need to go. We need answers about our pup.” I agreed. We needed to plan her Luna ceremony, and she needed to join our pack. We could do the mating ceremony separately. Alpha Eric and Haley didn’t have both together. I wanted her to be the Luna before the birth of our twins though.

On the way to the pack hospital, we were met with such joy. Everyone was thrilled their future Alpha and Luna were coming. I didn’t think my dad would be able to contain that secret for any length of time. He probably told everyone it was a boy and girl.

After what felt like an eternity the doctor instructed Lexi to get on the table. She lifted up her shirt and we were both quiet as a whooshing sound came across. Tears filled my eyes. Emma and Emmett’s little heartbeats. I wiped my eyes. It was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard. Bolt was apparently never going to stop purring.

I kissed Lexi. She was giving me everything I’d ever wanted. April ran a lot of tests and told us she wasn’t certain of the date. Thinking March but could be as early as February. I calmed Lexi down as I felt her panic. I told her that Haley could snap everything we needed.

I was too damn happy when Lexi said we could have her Luna ceremony soon. I linked Nadine, “The weekend after next is the Luna ceremony.” Nadine replied, “Great! I’ll show Lexi my ideas.” I said, “Thank you.”

I carried Lexi back to the house. She planned a few things then fell asleep minutes later. I went downstairs. Thankfully, Sally was there. I said, “If you could get some soup for Lexi if you have any whipped up already.” Sally laughed, “I do.” She flashed off to go heat it up.

Cameron cleared his throat. He was standing there with my dad. Cameron ordered, “Spill. Based on your reaction to my comment this wasn’t a birth control failure.” My dad said, “It doesn't make sense any other way. There’s been a lot going on. She forgot the pill. So what? I get grandpups.”

I growled, “Noah tampered with her birth control.” Cameron asked, “Why would he….? Oh…” I snarled, “YES. OH. He wanted to take MY Mate! He was going to RAPE HER!” Matt flew into the room, “Which he now can’t do because she’s pregnant with your pups.”

Sally chimed in, “He’d just wait.” We all turned around. Derrick went to her. Sally said, “I’m heating up Lexi’s favorite soup. It will be ready soon. As for Noah, he will just wait until she gives birth. He waited until the day before she turned eighteen to get her to have sex with him. He’s been waiting for her for three years. He’s patient, which means you’ll have to kill him.”

Derrick was holding her tightly. I acknowledged, “I do intend to kill him. He won’t get her or you.” She looked at the ground, “He’ll kill me if he gets me.” Derrick growled menacingly. Sally said, “It’s just a fact, Wolf man. My pregnancy will enrage him far more than Lexi’s.”

Matt asked, “Why?” Sally sighed, “Because I lied to him.” Ted shouted, “I FUCKING KNEW IT! MY GIRL! I am so damn proud.” He flashed into the room and hugged Sally awkwardly because Derrick didn’t let go.

Derrick’s eyes were black with anger, his wolf was in charge. He and I were going to have to hit the gym. Derrick growled, “Lied to him about what?” Sally sighed, “Noah thought we’d been trying for a few years to have a child. I didn’t want that because I knew how he felt about Lexi. I knew we weren’t working even though we were supposed to.”

Derrick growled and tightened his grip. I linked him, “She’s yours and he can’t have her.” Derrick linked, “He’d kill my pup and mate. I’ll fucking RIP HIM LIMB FROM LIMB!” Sally said, “I went to an outside doctor. I used one of our people’s aliases which by now I’m sure he’s checked and figured it out.”

I questioned, “Why not just tell your Shroud doctor? Surely they couldn't tell him anything.” Sally said, “Noah told them not to fill my birth control anymore, so they didn’t.” I yelled, “SON OF A BITCH!” Everyone shot me a questioning look.

I called Heath. He answered on the first ring, “Chase?” I said, “Ask your Shroud doctors if before he fled if Noah ordered them to switch Lexi’s birth control.” Heath hissed, “I’ll kick their fucking asses. I’ll ask.” I said, “Thank you.”

Sally said, “Anyway, I got an IUD and then had the string for it cut very short, so that he wouldn’t know. He’d have found any other method. I was thinking about the shot, but he’d have noticed the injection site. Plus, it could run out early, and I didn’t want that. He likes control, and I took that from him. He’ll see everything I did as an insult. If he gets me, that dream I had will happen.”

I assured her, “Sally, he will NOT get you.” Sally smiled and looked at Derrick, “I know he won’t. My wolf will protect me.” Derrick kissed her. He dragged her out of the house. Nadine came out with a bowl of soup for Lexi.

Matt said, “She’s right, you know?” I admitted, “I know.” Matt urged, “We need to kill him soon.” I sneered, “Really? I was planning to let him get old and grey. Possibly enjoy his life wherever he is.” Matt rolled his eyes grumbling, “Everyone’s just a bit testy.”
