I was confused. I told him, “We didn’t even get to say goodbye.” Oscar said, “Yes, well what TeleTed wants TeleTed gets. I quite like the man and he’s insistent you be here. I think everyone wants that if we are being honest.” I frowned, “Ted wanted us back? Is he ok?” I realized where we were, and my eyes widened.
Panic gripped me and I yelled, “Why are we in the hospital? WHERE IS TED? Is he hurt?” I looked at Chase. He held up his hands, “No one linked me that he had been hurt, Sweetheart. They would’ve because my Beta would’ve been on a war path. I would be the only one who could stop him so I’m sure Ted is fine.”
Oscar cleared his throat explaining, “He’s much more than fine. He’s very happy.” I frowned then put it all together. I yelled, “Joanie! Joanie had the baby!” Oscar nodded, “Yes, she did. They are up on the third floor.”
I left Chase behind and ran for the stairs. I knew he was on my tail. I flew onto the floor and flashed into Joanie’s room. Ted was singly softly to the baby in his arms. He turned announcing, “Lexi Daniels, meet Malachi.” I teared up asking, “It’s a boy?” He nodded.
I reached out my hands and cradled him to me. I said, “Auntie Lexi is going to spoil you rotten. Yes, I am.” Ted cooed, “But daddy Ted will spoil you more.” Chase pulled Matt in for a hug. He said, “You didn’t even link me!” Matt said, “I was about to when you said Luna Emmaline went into labor.”
Chase took little Malachi from me. I hugged Ted whispering, “I’m so happy for you.” I went over and kissed a sleeping Joanie on the forehead. I’d call Haley to heal her when she woke up. I stood back and smiled at Chase. This life I never thought I’d have, after having my heart broken, was more than I could ever imagine. I was never going to give it up.
Epilogue
Six Years Later
Lexi was watching her twins play with Ted’s children. So far Ted, Matt, and Joanie had Malachi, Annie, and Clara. Joanie considered all their kids her own, and they loved it. Ted was waiting for his next fairy baby until I popped with Keaton and Keith. I had held out on having more kids since we were having ten of them. I kept waiting for the moment when I’d come to the future in this pregnancy. I couldn’t help but wonder why Heath had said Chase was worried about me.
So far nothing had happened to make me worry or not be myself. Haley popped in with her kids. I laughed, “You’ve got a brood now. I can’t believe you're pregnant again.” Haley shrugged, “We took some space between them.” I snorted, “Sure. You have a strange definition of space.” Haley shrugged, “These two aren’t girls. I know we have another girl, so we aren’t done yet.”
I gasped, “How many are you going to sneeze out?” Haley shrugged, “We will see. I love my big family.” I smiled, “Of course you do. Where’s EJ?” Haley told me, “My stubborn little seven year old Alpha male is with his mate.” I asked, “Is that where Wesley is too?” Haley nodded, “Yes, he’s also with his mate.” I smiled and she popped down next to me.
I watched our kids play. I asked her, “So that one playing with Emmett is….” Haley laughed, “Oh come on! That’s Max!” I teased, “I know. Emmett’s very best friend. I know them all. Preston’s such a cutie.” She agreed, “They all are.” Haley clutched her stomach. Kyler moved forward to us, and Blade faded in.
He knelt beside her, “Princess. Is babies? Blade get wolf. Open Portal.” Haley cringed, “No, it’s not the babies. Something bad is coming.” Blade drew his weapon. I yelled, “Emmett, Emma get over here! Right now!” Kevin emerged.
A heavily pregnant Sophia came into the clearing with her sons and daughter. Emmett flashed to Alexandria, picked her up and ran with her back to us. We all had quite the moment when Emmaline told us they were mates. Despite the situation we started in, I couldn’t help but think it was the best possible outcome. It was the full circle we came to, and now we would be family.
Sophia frowned saying, “Sorry we are late….” She trailed off then asked, “What’s wrong?” I motioned her over, “Haley said something bad is coming.” Allie flashed in with Jasmine and Joe. She questioned, “What’s wrong?” Haley answered, “I don’t know.” Alexander and Cassie popped to their mother. Cassie’s hands were glowing.
I linked Chase, “You need to get to us right now.” Chase replied, “What’s wrong?” I said, “Haley has a bad feeling.” I looked up and saw several rogues, witches, and warlocks. I whisper yelled, “Allie call Heath. Call him right now!”
Haley ordered, “Julian, William, and Preston pop to Grandpa Titus right now.” They popped away. Haley said, “I’d be wasting my breath telling the rest of you to do that, wouldn’t I?” Alexander declared, “I won’t leave you here, mom. Cassie, go!” Cassie snorted, “As if.” She was just like her momma.
I linked Chase, “We need you!” Chase replied, “We are coming! What’s happening?” Oscar popped in. He smiled, “You’d think after all this time the Alpha man would remember I can pop him in.” You really would.
A rogue shifted back then stalked forward. He announced, “We are here for the girls.” Alexander growled and the man went down holding his head. Haley whispered, “We need to hear what they want.” Alexander looked at her, and the man cried holding his head.
EJ popped in with Eric. Eric growled, “WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?” A warlock stepped forward, “We are taking the little girls with us. Emma and Cassie belong with us. As does Haley Holloran. The rest will do as a bonus.” Haley shouted, “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!”
Bolt thundered into the clearing. Teke, Sophia’s mate, ran in with Tyson and their warriors. He charged in front of her and their children and roared in anger. Tyson’s angry growl followed. I saw Matt, Derrick, Cameron, and Frank come running with Kincade and all our warriors.
Heath flashed in with several Hood fighters. I saw Tilly. I bent down, “Emma, run. Run to Tilly. She’ll take you to the Shroud.” She whispered, “Mommy, I won’t leave you!” I assured her, “I’ll be running behind you. Don’t wait for me though, Emma. When I say go, you run to Tilly.” She nodded. I looked down at the other children, my family and told them, “All of you, grab hands now and wait.” I was relieved when they did so without question.
Haley took my hand. Eric turned, “Angel, get out of here. Now!” Haley said, “As a child of earth and sky I called up the protection of my brother, the king of Faerie.” Aiden popped seconds later with a contingent of men. He looked Haley up and down and turned.
He asked, “Wolf of my sister’s, what is this?” Eric snarled explaining, “Ring members who want my mate and daughter, oh and Chase’s daughter too. The rest of the children because they are bonuses. That’s a quote.” Aiden laughed and looked at the group, “You cannot have any of them and in some capacity, you must know that.” They really did at this point.
A portal opened. Bjourn, Astrid, Titus, Veronica, Harper, Gunner, and Torvi stepped through. Aiden said, “Little sister, why haven’t you popped your friends and the children out?” Haley answered, “I can’t.” Aiden turned startled, then closed his eyes, “They came prepared. Some of the children got out, I see.” Haley replied, “They don’t have as much Fae blood as I do. They’ve always been the exception to things that hold me back.”
Aiden nodded then spoke in Fealish. Two men stepped forward, taking their place to guard Haley. The warlock said, “Enough of this, we will have them. We’ve waited long enough.” They advanced. I yelled, “EMMA, RUN!” Emma took off like a flash. I looked down grabbed Jasmine, Joe, Emmett, Alexandria, and Sophia’s son Allister. Sophia grabbed her other boys’ hands. I looked at Haley who nodded to me. She had a plan.
I yelled, “Annie, Clara, Malachi, you’re with me. Grab Allie’s hand.” They didn’t question me, they just ran. I made sure Sophia was ok, then I ordered, “ALLIE, RUN!” We took off, flash fast for the Shroud. Tilly was waiting just inside the Shroud’s edge with Emma.
My uncle Jordan flashed up, “What’s this? Edgar and I just got back.” Jasmine cried, “Daddy is fighting bad men that want Emma, Haley, and Cassie. Haley couldn’t pop away.” Edgar and Uncle Jordan flashed out.
Aunt Scarlett ran up with a pregnant Charlotte followed by Anne. She grabbed her three grandchildren. She exclaimed, “Thank the War Goddess you are alright!” I looked around then panicked, “I shouldn’t have left Haley.” Anne assured me, “That girl can handle herself.” I countered, “So can I.” I just thought her plan was to follow us. I should’ve known it wasn’t. That was not a mistake I’d make again.
Anne said, “You had several kids to get to safety.” Sophia said, “Guys, I have a slight problem.” We turned and quickly realized her water had broken. I clapped, “Ok baby Scarlett is coming.” Sophia had really bonded with my Aunt. It was adorable and Aunt Scarlett couldn’t have been more thrilled when Sophia and Teke asked if they could name their daughter after her. I was so happy for all of them.
