He yelled into his bullhorn, “CALLING ALL CREEPY NINJA ASSASSINS TO THE STARTING MARK! IF YOU LAP GAP, I’LL FOLLOW YOU AROUND FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE DOING YOUR BIDDING! SORRY LUCAS! I MIGHT HAVE TO RETIRE!”

Alpha Lucas rolled his eyes saying, “No you won’t and you’re not following them around. I need you.” Alpha Eric yelled, “If I don’t kill him…” Prince Bjourn laughed. Prince’s Marcus, Bjourn, Harper, and Logan stepped out and got ready to tackle the obstacle course next.

They almost beat Alpha Eric to the end but didn’t quite manage. I asked Beta Dylan, “The course seemed to be out to get Alpha Eric more than anyone else.” Beta Dylan whispered, “SHHHH Alpha Baby Daddy.” Matt snorted, “It’s not a secret. It was literally out to get him.”

Beta Dylan said, “Now Beta Mattie, it might have been out to get him. We have to take our shots in on GAP when we get the chance. He’s a prick AND a God. This is the LEAST we can do to him.” I rolled my eyes.

A portal opened and Susie stepped through, with an ice cream in her hand. She had little heels on too with a cute dress. She squealed, “DADDY! CHASE! CAMERON!” I turned and noticed my brother. I hadn’t even seen him. He smirked at me and winked.

Susie continued, “I had a special fairy magic me shoes! Aren’t they amazing?” My dad had paused on the course. He agreed, “Yes, Princess. Those are very pretty. Where’s your mom?” Susie answered, “The Bad Ass girl’s gang day is not over. I just have plans with my friends. Haley is like the coolest party planner ever! She and Lexi agreed to coordinate on my birthday. I told them Haley should join Lexi’s business. They come up with amazing things!”

I laughed, “I see that.” Susie smiled, “I need to get inside. I need to put all my stuff down.” She ran inside. My dad got knocked into the water. Alpha Eric stalked over yelling, “DYLAN FROST!” Beta Dylan said into the bullhorn, “CAN’T TALK GAP! I’M THE OFFICIAL COURSE RUNNER!”

Alpha Eric seethed. He walked over to Alpha Lucas. He said, “I’m going to end your Beta.” Alpha Lucas disagreed “I still need him.” Alpha Eric growled, “He has a brother.” Beta Dylan shouted, “PAYBACK’S A BITCH GAP!”

I raised an eyebrow. For what? Alpha Eric said, “I deal with you all the damn time! That’s payback enough!” Beta Dylan gasped, “I GOT CARPAL TUNNEL THAT NIGHT YOU HAD TO GO ALL I’M A BETTER MAN THAN YOU, ALPHA PRATER!”

Alpha Eric growled, “YOU’RE STILL ON ABOUT THAT?” Beta Dylan retorted, “I WILL ALWAYS BE ON ABOUT THAT GAP! IT WAS OVER THREE HUNDRED PAGES OF PAPERWORK!” He paused then added, “FRONT AND BACK!”

Cameron walked over to me laughing. We grabbed Matt and Derrick. I said, “Let’s go Matt. You’re the man of the hour after all.” Matt sighed, “I was not thinking my bachelor party would be an obstacle course trying to beat the shit out of me.” I consoled him, “Mostly just Alpha Eric.” Matt chuckled.

Beta Dylan said, “We have ALPHA BABY DADDY, BETA MATTIE, AND ALPHA CAMERON WHO DESPERATELY NEEDS A NICKNAME! AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST ANOTHER MAN IN NEED OF A NICKNAME GAMMA DERRICK! ALPHA KAA! YOU’RE ON DECK! ASSEMBLE YOUR TEAM!” Sophia laughed.

My dad had almost reached the end of the course. Beta Dylan ordered, “GO!” Cameron, Derrick, Matt, and I took off. I heard Susie cheer, “GO CHASE AND CAMERON!” We smiled at each other, and I couldn’t help but think this was a lot of fun.

Then everything went into slow motion. I heard a shot being fired. We all jumped down. I turned to see Sophia tackle Susie to the ground. They both screamed and I saw blood was on the ground. I yelled, “SUSIE! SOPHIA!” I heard Tyson yelled, “SOPH!”

I took off running for them. Tyson wasn’t far behind me, Cameron right behind him. Another shot went off, but I didn’t care. I reached Sophia and Susie and dragged them behind cover. I stood back up, was promptly tackled, and then I heard a grunt of pain. Arms grabbed me and whoever was on top of me pulled us to cover.

Tyson pleaded, “Hang on, Soph.” She hissed, “It’s just flesh wound, it’s silver though.” I yelled, “Susie?!” She whispered, “I’m ok. Sophia saved me.” I looked at Sophia with tears in my eyes. I whispered, “Thank you.” Shots were ringing out all around.

I linked the pack, “WE HAVE SHOOTERS WITH SILVER BULLETS TAKE COVER!” I heard return fire begin from our side. I looked and saw Heath had a gun. He saw me. Relief colored his face. I heard Alpha Jackson yell, “ERIC!” Oh no. I’d forgotten I’d been saved by someone.

I turned and spotted the man in question and nearly howled. Alpha Eric was gasping for breath. I linked the pack doctor, “I need you to safely get to me right now! Alpha Eric is down!” I rolled over and put my hands over his chest. I ordered, “Hey, stay with me! You’re going to be fine.” I could smell wolfsbane.

I linked Alpha Jackson, “The bullet he took has wolfsbane and silver.” Alpha Jackson howled in agony. It was a death sentence. He’d taken a shot to the heart. The only person who could save him was his own mate.

I heard a pop and the scariest and most heart wrenching scream I’d ever heard hit my sensitive ears. Bjourn cursed, “Shit.” Marcus agreed, “Double shit. Is Eric down?” I yelled, “YES! IT’S BAD!” Everyone was silent.

Haley was on her knees beside me. Tears were streaming from her golden, sun colored eyes. Alpha Eric brokenly said between gasps for breath, “...love…. you… Angel…” Haley screamed in agony, “No! NO, YOU DON’T! YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME! YOU DON’T GET TO LEAVE ME!” She put her hands over his chest.

I reached back and touched Sophia who was touching Tyson and Susie. I was pretty sure bullets couldn’t get into this bubble thing of hers. I linked Cameron, “I don’t know if she can save him.” Cameron said, “Let’s pray to the goddess she can.”

I wanted to close my eyes as the peaceful euphoria filled me, but I refused to give in. I watched in shock as the bullet pushed back out of Alpha Eric’s skin. It felt like seconds had passed as the wound on his chest closed. Damn she was good. His chest began to rise and fall.

She spoke in Fealish. A glow surrounded him. She leaned down and kissed his forehead. Tears were streaming from her eyes. Her hands stopped glowing. I linked Cameron, “Did she just bring him back from the brink of death in minutes?” Cameron replied, “It was the LONGEST thirty minutes OF MY LIFE.” I replied, “He was taking his last breaths.

Alpha Eric almost died saving me. I owed him a great debt. I linked my brother, “Is the pack safe?” Cameron replied “Yes, everyone is in safe rooms. My pack is surrounding them from behind. They are ready to move in once the silver bullets are out of play.”

Three pops sounded. I groaned, “Fuck. Their pups are here now? This is not good.” Haley spoke to the babies in Fealish. Bjourn yelled, “HALEY MELODY CONNERS!” I linked Cameron, “Are you by him?” Cameron answered, “Way ahead of you. He said she told them to pop him somewhere safe. Somewhere he couldn't get back here from.” I said, “Do the pups know Fealish? She seems angry enough to forget if they don’t.”

The pups popped away and took Alpha Eric with him. Ok then. Asked and answered. The pups knew Fealish. Cameron replied, “Evidently, they do.” I retorted, “I got that.” Haley looked over when she heard Susie crying. She popped away with her and popped back. She started speaking Fealish and Latin.

I tried to lighten the mood by teasing, “Is this a new level of mad? You’re switching languages.” She didn’t answer me. She popped over to Sophia and healed her arm in seconds. She conjured a phone and spoke in Fealish. She hung up.

She yelled, “OSCAR!” Oscar popped next to her with Jenna answering, “Yes, Princess.” She asked him, “Are you ok?” He nodded. She looked me over assuring herself I was fine. She yelled, “JACKSON, HAROLD, AND DARRIN! Are you ok? Because you’d better fucking be!”

Jackson yelled back, “We are fine! You can link us. We need Eric back here.” Haley whispered, “Hell to the fuck no.” I told her, “They can still hear you. He yelled for your benefit.” She shot me a glare. Matt linked, “Ease back there, Killer. We aren’t pointing out the obvious right now.” Ok then.
