Heath:I am your big brother. Just get here.
I sighed announcing to Reagan, “It looks like I have to call it a night. My brother wants to see me.” Reagan frowned, “You can’t drive.” I agreed, “I told him that so he’s sending someone to get me.” Reagan huffed, “I suppose all good things must come to an end.” I laughed, “We will have to do it again sometime.” Reagan agreed, “I do believe we will.”
We went outside. The second we were through the door of the club; the smell of sandalwood was so overwhelming I had to follow it. My body started to shake. Reagan grabbed my arm, “Lexi, are you ok? Are you feeling sick?”
I heard a voice I knew yell, “Lexi, get in the car.” I whirled, “Isaiah?” Isaiah looked upset, “Yes, Heath sent me to get you. Get in the car, please.” I sighed and gave Reagan a hug. I told her, “Thanks for tonight. I’ll call you later.”
Reagan whispered, “Is this a problem? I can keep you away from him if you want.” I quickly assured her, “No, he works for my brother and he’s as childhood friend. He won’t hurt me.” Reagan studied Isaiah, “If you’re sure.” I nodded, “Yup.”
I greeted Isaiah as I got in the car, “Hey Isaiah, long time no see.” Isaiah pursed his lips, “Yes, it has been. You tend to be a recluse among our people now.” I cringed, “I just had to be.” Isaiah quietly said, “I know.”
Neither of us said anything for a moment. I asked, “Do you have any idea what this is about?” Isaiah ventured, “I have a guess.” I prodded, “And your guess is?” Isaiah let out a breath, “Noah heard a rumor that Henrick is in town.”
He didn’t continue so I pressed, “And?” Isaiah speculated, “I believe he convinced your brother you need to stay out of sight for the time behind.” I hissed, “Stop the car.” Isaiah immediately pulled over. I flashed out of the door.
I pulled out my phone and dialed my brother. I heard him breathing when he answered and gritted out, “Heath.” Heath sounded confused, “Lexi, where are you?” I informed him, “Two steps from kicking your ASS, that’s where I am. I am NOT coming in to hide in the Shroud because Henrick is in town. I am a grown ass woman who can take care of myself, and I will NOT adhere to the Lieutenant’s ridiculous notions about me. I don’t hide, brother. You can understand because NEITHER DO YOU! I will not be run out of my home or business because Henrick is here. I have two events this weekend. Ted cannot be in two places at once.”
Heath bargained, “Sally can do one event. I need you to be safe.” I stared at the phone then said, “Henrick is not about to attack me. He might want to fuck me again, but I can’t imagine why that would bother our Lieutenant. I’m going to my events this weekend. I’m staying in MY home, and I will NOT be under house arrest in yours. Sally is the caterer who focuses on the damn food, and you know that.”
Heath sighed, “Henrick could be a danger to you. I don’t want you hurt. It would just be until your next mission. I shrieked, “HALLOWEEN?! Are you OUT of your MIND? You know what? Don’t answer that.” I took a deep breath, “I’m not coming in for this. Henrick is not a problem. Even if he saw me, I’d just tell him I was temping for someone else.”
Heath argued, “Noah is right, we can’t have you in danger. Isaiah is bringing you home.” I ground my teeth, “No sentence I will EVER agree with starts with the Lieutenant is right. I have bad news for you, big brother.” Heath warned, “Lexi…” I interrupted, “I am faster than Isaiah.”
I hung up my phone and turned around. I apologized, “I’m sorry, Isaiah.” Isaiah was nonplussed, “I’m just going to get back into my car and pretend that I chased you.” I kissed him on the cheek, “Thank you.” Isaiah hugged me, “There are five of us who know the truth, counting you. Whatever Noah’s issue is, it’s about getting you around more often. I want you to be happy.” I smiled at him before I took off running.
I heard noises behind me. Huh. I wondered if Isaiah had spotted a tail and decided to follow me. I made it to my porch breathing heavily. I was about to open the door when the smell of sandalwood hit me again.
I walked back off the porch and yelled, “WHO ARE YOU?” My heart was pounding, but nothing happened. I wasn’t going to follow this scent again. I muttered, “I am going crazy.” I walked back to my porch and went inside.
Ted was going to be pissed tomorrow because I definitely didn’t have sex in my dress. Heath was likely to be in my office first thing tomorrow too. I sighed. That was a tomorrow problem though. Right now, I just wanted to go to bed. I was practically asleep when my head hit my pillow.

Chase looked between his Beta and Gamma. I asked them, “Are either of you going to tell me what the problem is?” Then I heard Sophia yell, “You can’t just keep me here!” I groaned, “Tell me that’s not who I think it is.” Matt was trying not to laugh when he admitted, “It is.”
The voice that answered shocked me because I recognized exactly whose it was. “I can fucking keep you here and I will.” Derrick laughed, “There have been variations of those two sentences between the two of them since they popped in.”
I rubbed my face asking, “The Princess brought Sophia here?” Matt happily informed me, “With Alfred and one of the members of her Hackura guard. He doesn’t say much.” My eyes widened when I questioned, “Alpha Eric?” Derrick laughed.
Matt answered, “Evidentially, he has a meeting this morning too. He doesn’t exactly know that the Princesses’ meeting is with Sophia. She set up an appointment with her, but Alpha Eric didn’t ask who her appointment was with. The Hackura guard seems to believe, and mind you I’m guessing from his broken English, that this will amuse Alpha Eric.”
I couldn’t stop my laugh. I took out my phone and dialed the man’s Beta. He answered, “This is Beta Caleb.” I knew I sounded happy when I replied, “Beta Caleb, I’d ask to speak to your Alpha, but I’ve heard he’s in a meeting.”
Beta Caleb asked, “How did you hear that?” I told him, “My Beta told me. I’m assuming your Princess Luna told him and Sophia since all of them are in my office.” Beta Caleb groaned, “Oh no.” I laughed, “Oh yes. Just tell Alpha Eric where we all are when he’s done with his meeting. I, for one, can’t wait to hear what this is about.”
Beta Caleb said, “Be a lamb and take the phone in with you. I also want to hear this. She was BEYOND pissed when Eric explained the situation with you and Sophia in full detail. In between them being the rabbits that they are.” I laughed and tossed Matt my phone.
I walked into my office. Alfred and Sophia glared at me. Princess Luna Haley smiled greeting me, “Good morning, Alpha Chase. Now that we are all here, let’s have our meeting. Where I intend to be nice.”
Sophia growled at her, “You POPPED me out of my office! You’ve made me wait for Chase for a half hour!” Princess Luna Haley was obviously confused, “Our meeting is for the entire morning, I set it up with your Beta and everything. WHAT is your problem? I made a fucking appointment. I AM BEING NICE GOD DAMN IT!”
The Hackura guard chuckled, “Princess nice.” Princess Luna Haley waved her arms, “SEE? Even Blade says I’m being nice. Let’s be clear here Alpha Sophia, you do NOT want me to be mean. Now, we all have a problem here, and we are going to talk it out. I’m basically giving you free therapy because while I haven’t graduated yet; I’m going to be a therapist one day.”
I linked Matt, “Did you know that?” Matt answered, “I did know that. She’s doing online classes after the situation where Jim and Nick Kruthers got shot. She didn’t want anyone to get hurt, but she still wanted to get her degree.”
I asked, “Is there anything this girl doesn’t do? She’s a mom, wife, Luna, Princess, gatherer of partial fairies, and soon to be therapist.” Matt shrugged, “The conclusion I have for you is that we need a fairy.” I looked from Alfred to Sophia smirking. I agreed, “We just might need a fairy. My mate’s not a fairy, so we need a pack member to get us a fairy. Maybe Derrick.” Matt snorted.
